Wyoming Man Kills Attacking Grizzly, Suffers Serious Injuries
From the Cody Enterprise:
A Clark man is in the hospital with extensive injuries to his face after encountering a grizzly bear sow with three cubs Sunday afternoon.
The man fired three shots at the bear with a .41 caliber revolver, killing the bear.
Game & Fish has the three cubs, which are about a year old.

If he hadn't had the gun the headline would read "Wyoming Man Killed by Attacking Grizzly.". I'm sure PETA will have a field day with this one, but a person on the Cody Enterprise website had the right idea... Just have someone from PETA hike infront of you to clear the way...maybe covered in a little bacon grease.
Reminds me of the CSI Miami episode when some guys were supposed to have done that to a guy that they wanted to kill to cover up another murder.
Poor guy, to bad he didn't fire first and ask questions later. I'm not being ignorant but thats the stupid logic of the fish & game dept.
who thinks we don't need handguns, raise your hand. good all those with your hand in the air go to the head of the line. Now lets go for a walk in bear country.
You guys got it right. If this guy wasn't carrying, he'd be dead. It's unfortunate that the sow had to die & leave the cubs, but that's a much better outcome than a "Man Killed by Bear" headline in the paper!
Just to add to the reasons of why we should be able to carry in National Parks... a weapon was used here and saved a life. Something that would not have happened if the gun had not been present.
I wonder how Peta would feel about any family or children this gentelman would have left behind?? Of course they will be singing the blues for the cubs which I would guess would be cared for and released.
Im sure this just pissed PETA off. They would have liked it much better if the guy died instead of "their" beloved bears. This is a wonderful example why a side arm should be carried when out in the woods, that includes Ntl. Parks.
