How-To: Trap Your Own Pigeons With a Catapult Net

By Chad Love

Pen-raised gamebirds for dog training aren't free. Pigeons, when you can trap them, are. That is, when you can trap them. With that in mind, this video is pure gundog trainer porn...

From Wired Science:
Spain has a pigeon problem, and some cities are recruiting private pigeon catchers to trap the rats-with-wings using special net catapult devices. The technique involves two people and a catapult-sprung net device. One person feeds the pigeons to make sure that they are gathered neatly into a small space, while the other angles the net catapult. Once the birds are in place, the net is released over the birds to trap them before they can fly away.

WOW! That was AWESOME! I know plenty of places that could use a program like this.

haha wow thats cool and in reality if you can catch that many pigeons at one time you know your city has a problem. On the bright side with one of these nets you wouldn't have to pay for clay pigeons anymore lol...

Ah ... roasted squab. Still rather have the local Cooper's hawks take care of the problem.

That's better than throwing a perfect circle with a cast net and pulling in a tub full of mullet. Impressive.

Wow, cool. A coyote ate our whole pen of training pigeons- about 55 total- earlier this summer. So now I'm in the pigeon trapping biz. I wonder how many they lost to the pigeons flailing inside that net?
