Can You Identify the Hunting Dog Breeds in this Music Video?
By David DiBenedetto
Okay, so the following are a few words I never thought I’d use in a sentence on the Man’s Best Friend blog: “the Kinks and hunting dogs.” But recently I stumbled on this video of the Kinks’ classic, “Sunny Afternoon,” and was fairly amused by the hunting dogs piling out of the vehicle during the first few seconds of the clip.
I’ve identified most of them, but there’s a breed or two I can’t pin down. (It’s a quick sequence.) I’m curious of your call on these pooches. And for the record, nobody in the Kinks was much of a gun-dogger. But you can’t argue that Ray Davies knew how to write some lyrics.

Just a guess, but here it goes...
Irish Setter, Cocker spaniel (?), yellow & black lab, English Setter, Brittany(?), and the last two are either GSPs or GWPs i think.
had to watch it a few times, but i think it's: irish setter, cocker, two labs, english setter, brittany, GSP.... last one's a mystery. great tune, by the way. love that band.
Ha thats hilarious...like a bird dog clown car. Imagine showing up to ur favorite hunting spot with that possse of characters....WOW!!! Three labs, two cockers, one GSP, one english setter, and a britt or springer of some sort. Thats a pretty darn good quiver!!
Gonna say yellow and black Lab, Irish Setter, English Setter, Brittany, Cocker and 2 GSPs. Cool video and great song!
Ain't nuthin but a howwwwwnnnnn-dawg...
Just don't hear enough of the Kinks anymore. I get on youtube and go from one old song to another for hours. do the same when I put an album on the turntable.
Have to agree with the above. The big head on that second to the last GSP reminded me of one we had about the time of this song.
Great song. I'm an Apeman, but I can't help with the dog breeds--the guesses above are as close as I can get. Now I've got the Kinks on the brain--just watch out for Lola--you don't want to mess with that girllll?...er whatever it is. LOL
i think uplander12 pinned it
Ray's father was a fisherman and Ray as a child and young adult followed his practice. There is an amusing account of his father allowing a days catch of eels loose in the boat with him and his new wife written in his book.
Uplander 12 has got it pegged on the dogs. They looked like Keystone cops.
God save the Kinks and our hunting dogs.
I guess they werent hunting badgers... because I Didnt see a Dachschund!!
