I've finished reading the entries (all 228 of them) in last week's caption contest. Like every contest, there were many good ones, a number of groaners and a few, well, puzzlers. But in the end, the one that seemed to best sum up the photo in the fewest possible words was from reader Ted Roberts. It was a masterpiece of understated brevity: "The new standard-issue K9mm."

Perfect. Congratulations, Ted. The editors will be getting in touch with you shortly about your new Survival Straps paracord bracelets and Swedish Fireknife from Mora. (I've got a Fireknife, and trust me, you're gonna like it).

And thanks again to everyone who contributed a caption. I'm not really sure if this was a real police dog or simply a joke, but just to be careful, you should probably leave the e-collar at home next time you visit Thailand.

yeh there had to be some funnier ones

as a magazine editor I had the job of picking funny captions from readers and I always picked my top 5 and then asked 3 or 4 other people for their input as to which was the best before making the final decision

I thought the one I submitted for this was kinda funny;

When you live in a country where your own kind typically appears on the lunch menu, it makes perfectly good sense for a brother to be packing some heat.
