If I don't miss my guess, that's no Salmon, nor a Steelhead either. It's a brook trout. Square tail, white edges on dorsal fins, worm like pattern on the upper surfaces, and the red stripe down the side. I've caught a bunch of brookies in my time, but none that big. Where were you, Labrador?

That's a steelhead, not a brook trout? More specificly it's a nice male steelhead. I've caught hundreds of steelies, and that's most defiantly a steelhead.

A steelhead, no doubt about it. But anyone who has ever battled one of these acrobatic beasts would find it awfully hard to believe that this youngster caught it without adult help.
