Young Opal (age 2 on left) made a stunning retrieve on a honker that I never saw fall. I have never seen a dog that can mark fallen birds as well, even as a pup. She also has a nose like a pointer. Pearl is the go-to dog for heavy birds or fighters. They commonly share the retrieve but never damage birds, not even wounded pheasants.
