Idaho - Henry's Fork
The June spotlight shines on salmonflies, pale morning duns, green drakes, and brown drakes-"and the massive educated rainbows that rise to sip them. Keep your ear to the ground, since hatches can vary dramatically up- and downstream. The Island Park area will fish better in runoff conditions. Hatches are more dependable late in the month. PMDs are staple patterns, but if green drakes hit the water, the trout can get reckless in a hurry. TroutHunter, 208-558-9900; trouthunt.com Guide's Tips Species: Rainbow Trout Guide: Rich Paini, TroutHunter, trouthunt.com; 208-558-9900 Rig Specifics: 9-foot, 4- or 5-weight fly rod, floating line, dry flies (green drakes, pale morning duns, caddis, golden stones), sizes 12 to 18.
