Nevada - Lake Tahoe
Even though it's 22 miles long and 12 miles wide, Lake Tahoe will soon feel busy and crowded with boaters who are totally unaware of the lake trout bounty below the surface. Most guides work the north and south ends, leaving the east side practically untouched. Launch at Cave Rock and fish along shelf dropoffs between Deadman's Point and Zephyr Cove. Serious anglers gear up with steel line and flashers, and learn to rig tandem minnows. Jigs also work. Either way, a good sonar unit is key to finding fish.
