Q:i'm gonns give walleye a try for the first time. anyone got a pointer or two for fishing a spillway? i know there are alot of smallies below it but have no idea how to fish it for walleye?plz be as detailed as ya can.

Q:I was walking a river this morning with a friend and twice he lost his jig. He was using 10lb braided so I took a length of my mono off and tied it on to his thinking maybe the braided was slipping. But he broke off again, now in the mono section. Finally I said let me tie one on there for you and later he lost that one too. They were pretty clean ends so it didn't look like the knots were coming loose. I did not have the same problem. I was using grubs/salamanders and he was using tube jigs so the only thing I could say is maybe you are getting hit by sauger. I know there are sauger in that section but I've never targeted them specifically. Does anyone have sauger experience? How likely are they to hit a tube jig?

Q:Colored Gamakatsu Octopus hooks for walleye? I picked up some chartreuse yellow octopus hooks at my local big-box outdoors store. Anyone fish a simple drop rig with colored hooks and shiners or leeches for walleye? Any advantage/disadvantage to colored hooks?
