The Compound
I have been thinking about switching to a 5 pin sight, to close the distance between my pins and take some of the between the pins guesswork out, but i am worried that it would cause clutter in a hunting sitution. Does anyone have any wisdom/opinion on more than three pins?
I added some pins to my sight last year and it was very cluttered...most of the pins were completely useless. I've got a 20, 30, and 40 yard pin now and I was actually thinking about taking the 40 yard pin off just so there was even less clutter and to prevent me from attempting shots beyond 30 yards. If you want to take some of the guesswork out without the clutter of more pins, I would suggest getting one of the 1-pin sites that you can adjust.
I use a 3 pin sight in Ohio but switch out to a 5 pin sight out West where I take longer shots. In Ohio 30 yds is my maximum shot due to the trees and brush. It's much more open out West which make longer shots possible.
