The Compound
I'm getting into this hunting thing relatively late in life. After spending most of my life in the city, I now find myself in an area where hunting is a realistic option and actually have permission to hunt on some land.
As a result, I find myself looking for a relatively inexpensive (lefthanded) compound bow that would be used for whitetail. I'm hoping to find a good value, not something I'll start swearing at as a cheap p.o.s.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Both Bear and Diamond make decent economical bows. If you have any hunting buddies, maybe a secondhand bow is the way to get started. Good Luck.
Steve182, thanks for the info, I'll have to check out Bear and Diamond - I don't know anyone wanting to sell a bow, but I was thinking about checking out ebay for used bows - I just don't think I have enough trust to buy a used bow over the internet and the local archery shop doesn't have any used lefties.
What ever you do... I would not buy a used bow off of ebay. the idea sound great but you need to have a bow sized to you. do yourself a favor and go to your local archery shop and have a new or used bow sized to you. it will make all the difference in the world.
I agree, do not buy a bow off ebay. Quite frankly you do not know if the bow was abused or even dry-fired. Most local archery shops will set up a bow that you purchase at their shop free of charge and help you out with selecting accessories.
I ended up with a Martin Moab. I have only had a few days but it seems like the more I shoot it, the more I like it.
I did end up getting it at a local archery shop and they were very helpful in terms of getting me set up with accessories. They even helped me set the peep sight and sight-in the bow.
Practice practice practice! I'm pretty new to the archery thing myself, but the more I practice the more I like my low-end bow. Oh, and be prepared to become addicted....
Well what did you get?
I got a Martin Moab (see above)
nice choice
Well, I didn't get a deer during the early archery season in Indiana but once the firearm season came along I got a "management" buck for the freezer.
