The Compound
I just got my first bow and it is The Rock by Diamond Archery. I am shooting the Beman ICS Hunter 340 with Tracer nocks and 100 grain Redhead Blackout broadheads. I wanted to know what everyone else is currently shooting and what you have shot and the pros and cons of each. The more information the better because I am just starting out and am already addicted.
Ross Cardiac. Only bow I have ever had. No cons so far. I've bow hunted 2 seasons and have taken 7 deer with it. Nice smooth bow.
an old recurve bow. i like it cause its harder and simple
I have only shot one bow and it was this fishing bow I think it was 40-45 pounds, and it wasnt compound. I cant remember what brand made it though. And it was my cusins
I shoot a Diamond Justice, 62# draw.(thought i was buying a 70# on ebay, was 60,) with a bowtech capture rest. I shoot CarbonExpress Terminator LiteHunter arrows with N.A.P. nitron 100gr broadheads. I use a lumenock on my hunting arrow.
Hoyt Katera, Easton ST Epic N-FUSED carbon arrows, muzzy MX-3 heads, Muzzy zero-effect rest and Viper sight. All good products and brands that I fully support.
I shoot a Diamond The Rock and Beman Ics arrows also. I have a TruGlo TruSite Xtreme, QAD Ultrarest, Octane stabilizer, Bonning Lynx 4-arrow quiver, and Scott Little Goose release. Works really nice.
I guess I'm a dinosaur.
High Country Sniper (1991). Still shooting Easton XX75's with a muzzy broadhead. Laugh if you want at my arcane setup; I've shot more deer with it than many bowhunters will in a lifetime.
jay, My backup set-up is a HighCountry BruteForce,(c.1999?) with a quiver of xx75's, muzzy 100gr.s It is fast and extremely effective. Don't know too many people who shoot HC's.
Mathews DXT, with Easton Epic arrows, and 125gr.Slick Trick 4 blade, QUD Ultrarest HD (which I just got today) before it was a Whisker Bisket. I changed because it was messing up my fletching. Cobra sights.
HIGH COUNTY SNIPER, thunder head 125gr ,carbon fury arrows, whisker bisket , TRUGLO sights.
I also have a Ross Cardiac, but I mostly hunt with my Howatt recurves... a 40# Hi-speed, and a 55# Mamba. The Mamba is what a carry most of the time.
I have an update on my gear. Now I am using G5 Montec 100 grainers (1-1/16" cut) for deer, and Vortex Pro Extreme 100-grainers (2-1/2" cut) for turkey.
Mathews Legacy, 62#. TruGlo Brite Site Xtreme. QAD Ultra Rest Pro. Carbon Express Maxima. 100gr Crimson Crocs.
Fred Bear Lights Out 65#, Trophy ridge sight, whisker biscuit but I think I may switch because it seems to be messing up my fletchings already. Gold tip arrows with G5 Montec 100 grains.
Mathews Black Max ...
2007 Renegade TR-4 set at 70 lbs with a Montana Black Gold sight, Whisker Biscuit rest, & a Vibracheck stabilizer. Single cam bows are the only way to go!
Bear Montana Longbow with 2314's.
I have been shooting the same PSE for about 10 years. I am with jay laugh but it still kills. No need to fix what isn't broken.
Darton Cyclone 65#, copper john sight, and bodoodle rest.
PSE X-force Dream season, phantom drop away rest, f-35 sights, Radial X-weave 300 Predator arrow, rage 2 blade. This set-up is awesome. Quiet, accurate, and it zips the arrows in there. PSE is on top of the market right now with their X-force series. Can't go wrong...
switchback xt, carbon express maxima hunter 350, muzzy mx-3, wisker biscuit
Im shooting a PSE Stinger its a nice bow for a smaller price Ive heard alot about the rage broad heads but i have a cheaper brand of a fixed blade and i completely hate them the first deer i shot this season the first with my bow survived the shot because the broadhead didnt inflict enough of a wound
