Benelli hands down; reliable, cheap, chambers all 12 gauge loads without having to buy a magnum receiver, it operates flawlessly in adverse conditions, the recoil system is top notch, and many more reasons.

the thing about this question is that it's not comparable to me. the remington 870 is a great gun for the guy that doesn't want to pay a whole lot for his shotgun. it's great. it's reliable, it's affordable. Benelli makes high dollar shotguns and they're the best made in my opinion. the super nova is my answer.

Sure I would have taken the more expensive gun as a prize or gift. who would not? But having said that I have fired most of the guns available at my skeet club, (We all shoot each others guns to try them out) but I keep going back to my Remington 1100 at the end of the day.

Many of the people who shoot my 1100, have asked to buy or trade.

When the U.S. Marine Corps went shopping for a new shotgun they bought a Benelli.

Who cares the real question is where are you going duck hunting next year, because the public spots are overfilled, and the private ones don't like my budget.

I have been considering this very question. For a guy like me, who won't put thousands down range in a year, but just wants a good reliable hunting gun I am going to have to go with the 870. Affordable, reliable, common (spare parts), flexible.
