The Firing Line
So I've always been a beretta fan when it came to pistols. Besides wearing out a couple of magazines, I have never had a problem. I planned on purchasing the 92 until a buddy from work told me about the P226 with the x-change system. It works on the same concept as the TC Encore, you buy the pistol body and you can buy different barrels, slides, etc. for different various calibers (9mm, .40SW, and .357). You can purchase the p226 in .22LR for ~600 and purchas different barrels for ~400. It would be nice to shoot practice rounds with cheap .22 and them switch barrels if I wanted to up the power.
The sig costs more than the beretta by about $200.
If you have any experience with the P226 and the X-change system what are your thoughts?
What are your thoughts in general on Sig Sauer when compared to Beretta as far as quality, accuracy, fit, finish?
i like sigs my uncle is NCHP and thats what he carries he loves it. the only thing i dont like about a sig, is they have a very long trigger pull.
If I ever by another concealed carry firearm it will be the 226 SAS.
I hadent heard ypu can get the 226 in .22 but I do know about the various calibers and that you can also go from a full size to a subcompact as well.
I am personally not a fan of the Beretta 92. I don't like how it fits into my hand. I'm starting to like the sigs since I bought my Sig mosquito. I personally would go with the Sig, but it should come down to what feels best in your hands.
Well, for what its worth I tried the SIG 220, 226 and 229. The 220 fit me best but is only available in .45 auto and .22. I have small hands and grip on the 226 is just to big for me. I already have a 1911 so I don't need another .45.
So, looks like another beretta is on order, I'm going with the 90-two model. Now.....what caliber 9mm or .40sw.
This is tough. I like both, as does the military, but the 92 fits me like a glove. Better than my Luger, even. I can't believe I just said that, but I can't believe how good 92's feel.
I like the .40S&W ok, but I'm of the notion that you should have 9mm and a .45 and not worry about the in between stuff. With 9mm you will be able to shoot more; more capacity, cheaper ammo. With the 40, you will have more power.
I prefer the Beretta 92 to the Sig (226) because the Beretta is just as reliable, cheaper, and accurate. The last years of my law enforcement was spent as a reserve officer in my department (I transferred from another town). Department issue was the Sig P226 in 9mm. The Sig is a fine weapon and it has apparently come down in price since then. Either way you can't go wrong, so I would pay less for the Beretta and use the savings to buy some ammo. Just a thought.
