My First gun

Uploaded on October 24, 2009

Do any of you have that gun that u cant let go, like your first one? well if you dint then i do. When i turned 10 i got what i had been asking for since i was 6 that christmas. i remember that we were freezing and that there was about 7 inches of snow in front of ny grandpa's front door, and i skipped all the little toys and knicknacks and went right for the heaviest one it was about 19 inches long and about 10 inches high, but when i opened it my jaw hit the floor in shock i unzipped the case and caressed my first shotgun barrel .the set that my parents had given me was a .22/20guage rossi single shot youth set and i have been an avid shooter since. well now i am a 5 foot eight 200pound 13 yearold linebacker and didnt notice that i had outgrown it till i was shooting bluerock with my uncle and broke my nose with th hammer. i was the gifted my grandpas remington 870 wingmaster and it is my weapon of choice against any turkey, quail, or pheasant i can get a bead onand still nothing means more to me than the barely legal length shotgun of my early youth. so i have cleaned and retired the old rossi until i can provide someone with the joy that my parents provided me with.

I got a Marlin Model 60 .22 rifle for christmas last year, and I will never use anything else for rabbits. I also got my dads old Winchester 94 30-30. I'm the only one in camp who uses iron sights. :) Scopes are for snipers, lol.

My first was Model 60 also, but it says Glenfield I got it when I was 8. It took me quit a while to save up the money for it. I would dig potatoes, feed the cows etc. for 2 dollars a day. Big bucks then. I have had it for almost 30 yrs now and would not give it up for anything. I also have my grandpa's Remington 511 Scoremaster. Proably the most accurate gun I own. Try getting that one from me!!

My first was a Remington 870 20 ga. i got for christmas when i was 11. I was so excited i skipped all the other presents and went for the longest box under the tree. I also got a box of shells, box of clays, and a thrower. It wasnt 20 mins. after we got done opening presents that my dad was throwing clays for me in the back yard, and my mom yelling at us because we were going to tick off the neighbors (we live in the country, plenty of room to shoot) that early on christmas morning. i didnt even get out of my pajamas to go shoot with a foot of snow on the ground.

my first gun was a cva youth model muzzleloader. it lasted for some time, i had trouble with misfires ect... then i sold that and bought a rossi fifty cal muzzleloader. still slaying deer with it today. however, my fist shotgun was an ithica single shot 20 ga... i cant seem to part with it. it has since been replaced by a rem. 870, but i still love squirelle and rabbit hunting with it.

Great story. My first gun was a Remington Model 1100. To this day i still adore that shotgun. I use others in its place, a browning bps hunter for deer, a remington 11-87 20 gauge for bird and rabbit, and a Ruger M77 mark II .22-250 for target. I will never get rid of the old 1100 though. I take it trap and skeet shooting and hunting every now and again, but am afraid of scratching it up. As for your situation, I would save it. You might just have kids someday. That little boy or girl would probably love to have dads old gun!
