The Firing Line
I am looking to purchase my first turkey gun. The Rem. 870 Express Bone Collector edition has caught my eye. It's on sale for around $400. Any suggestions on a better turkey shotgun similar in price or should I stick with this one?
Thanks for any advice.
Buy an 870 without the celebrity endorsement/logo and save a hundred bucks. anything with an endorsement like that costs more for no reason other than to pay the endorser.
steve182,
Right on forget the high priced endorsement from the inflated ego bunch. You can get an 870 much cheaper.
Sarge,
i don't begrudge anyone for trying to make a living off their hobbies, but if it's at my expense i'm not into it! There are more admirable ways to make a buck in the outdoor industry as i know you're aware. As they say, "its nice work if you can get it"
Ditto.
I'm waiting for the Patagonia edition.
Although you would get to have the bone collector name, that doesn't make a gun better.
Just get a plain 870 with camo if you want. Don't get the Bone Collector name on it because that raises the price about $100.
Thanks for the advice. I ended goin with and 870 express super mag full camo from wally world and spent much less than I would have on the bone collector edition, which let me spend the extra on a choke and sights. TURKEYS BEWARE
Next will be my first bow. Will be back in the summer for some advice there.
Thanks again
Good purchase and good luck mmc
I am 17 and just bought that gun for 400 and I found out that the extra $60 is going towards the camo and the ability to shoot 3-1/2 in shells and not just towards the endorsement
Besides the overpriced logos the 870 is a great gun.
i paid $250 dollars for my 870 a long time ago and it's still going strong with no hiccups. i would not have paid 400 however.
youll have that gun forever. it will never wear out but i dont think you need to buy the bone collector edition. it would save you some money that you could spend on ammo.
