The Tip Board
I found a great (and cheap) way to cover and protect the line on my fly reels. I use those wide velcro cable ties that you can buy to wrap around stereo cables etc.
And if you're lazy like me and leave your leader and tippet on the line, this is a great way to wrap it up after you fish and keep it from unspooling.
"leave the leader, and tippet on the line?" Who doesn't do that? No reason to take your leader off, and have to retie on a leader using a nail knot, and cut off more of the end of your flyline. Even if you go loop to loop there is no reason to take off the leader.
I use loop to loop connections, so sometimes it's worth taking if off just to not have to dig a long 6x tippet out of a reel that inevitably gets tangled up. But that's just me I guess.
No, that's a very good reason. I get my leader tangled underneath the line wraps, and get frustrated often. A plus for going loop to loop.
