The Turkey Roost
Binoculars rank 3rd behind my shotgun and calls as the most important tools for Turkey hunting. One of the deadliest tricks we use is to sneak to the edge of a remote field and glass for birds. Locate a Gobbler sneak as close as possible, set up and start calling. This has worked many times for me. Sometimes I spot birds sitting in green wheat with nothing but their head visible. Other hunters never know they are there. Once I watched a friend park his truck get out and whiz while a Gobbler was hiding in the grass only a few yds away. When he drove away the bird stood and walked on out in the field. Good glass will also save you time by ID'ing birds you don't want to hunt such as Jakes. Rare is the Turkey hunter I see with Bino's. Don't leave home without them.

Absolutly correct. No matter if I'm deer or turkey hunting or just taking a stroll through the woods, or fishing, I always have a pair of binoculars. How many times have we been afield and saw something in the distance and said darn I wish I had my binoc"s
Me too i dont go anywhere without them even when i go fishing in the area im hunting i take them
Yup. Binoculars should be a neccessity no matter what kind of hunting (or outdoor activity) you are doing.

They are really nice accept during early season bowhunting when there is all that foliage. Other than that they are super great.
i was a skeptic until i bought a decent pair last year, now its a new "necessity."
I have a pair of fixed focus 8 power Nikons that live in my turkey vest. Don't leave home without them.
I just used my pair to see a big tom yesturday morning. Although, he ran away before I could shoot him.
I agree! I never used to carry binos until spring before last. I received a decent pair as a gift and now I don't know how I hunted without them!
I think that everyone should use a pair of binos to identify their target before they pull the trigger. This would save a lot of headaches. Besides I love to look at the sights of nature while hunting.
i always carry them turkey hunting....always
binocs and camera are always in the vest.
Glassing is a big thing here in AZ where its open country. Typically, I find "high ground" and glass along ridgelines overlooking meadows and washes. Doing this has saved me time and effort along with an advantage point for locating toms and flocks. I suggest using Binos with 10X or greater for better spotting.
Written perfectly. I will not go turkey hunting without my binos. Like you I think they would rank right behind my gun and calls. On some days and in some experiences I would say my binoculars was more important than my calls.
I figured all turkey hunters used binoculars. I guess I've just always used them and didn't think about so many people not using them.
i agree, binos are esseniel for turkey hunting. ther esspecily good for farm country, and for finding turkeys in thick brush.
