The Turkey Roost
Looks like we have had the best hatch in years around my area. I'm seeing lots of poults of all ages with hens this summer. No doubt the dry weather and the hords of cicadas helped out. Lots of grass hoppers have followed as well. I even had a hen and 6 half grown poults in my garden this morning! If all goes well we should have a good crop of mature gobbers in the GA Piedmont in 2013 and 2014. How is the hatch in your area?
Been seeing lots of poults on the dirt roads and in the hay field. Went down fishing in the farm pond and there were grasshoppers everywhere and bass were waiting for one to land in the water then it was gone.
The late spring was relatively dry here in Alabama, which means the poults should fare well. I just hope the tornados didn't wreak havoc with nesting.
