Looks like an ad.
This thread looks like a shameless ad for Dick's Sporting Goods.
We dont have but two sporting good stores. An usally the have to order what your lookin for.Plus it offers jobs an we need those. And belive me I know shameless!!And thats a awesome icon DD.
Don't get overjoyed... They are geared more towards the Golfers, and other Non Hunting related sports. Which there is no issue with that it is just not gonna have a huge Hunrting selection.
Their Hunting Selections are limited and slim pickins
Gander Mtn, Bass Pro, Macks PW, Cabelas are THE Hunting and Fishing Kings.
Local owned Green Top is good to go too.
Well-crap,thanks for the info!
Thank you Mr. Anderson
Dick's may not have as big a selection as Gander Mtn, Bass Pro etc. but when Dick's has a product I have found that they usually have the best price. Plus, I give them points for selling guns at a general sporting goods store that has a customer base that is more likely not to own gun than own one.
Hope that Dicks turns into a Cabellas for you. I loved having one near where I used to live.
There used to be a chain called Galyans that was a decent sporting goods store. Kind of a mini Cabalas. They had several stores in Ohio but later sold out to Dick's. After Dicks took over the hunting and fishing depts went down hill. Not near the selection as before. 86Ram is correct, if you're a golfer you'll be in heaven but for the hunter/fisherman its not that great. I think Dicks prices are on the high side.
Kenton I remember that chain. It was pretty good
Here in NC, Dicks isn't too bad. I do consider them a bit pricey for what they carry here, though. For something that I want more selection on, it's worth the drive a few counties over for Bass Pro or Gander.
Stick with the Sale items and you'll do ok at Dicks, especially post-season. If my local one is any example, don't plan on buying any guns unless you have a few hours to kill. There are worse and more expensive stores out there though.
I love Dicks Sporting Goods. In New York where I live you can either go to a family owned hunting store: very expensive, drive hours to the nearest Bass pro or Cabelas, or go to Dicks. The Dicks by me has a huge selection and great prices. During the regular season I buy everything from them, usually in there 2-3 times a week. Also they have great sales especially in the off season, when things are often marked to 60-75% off. No complaints with them yet. Definitely get a dicks sporting goods card, because if your like me you will spend lots of money on hunting stuff, and its great to sporadically get those $10 checks in the mail.
Dave - that was also my reaction when I first walked into Dick's.
To those who might not know, Dicks is also the purveyor of fine Field&Stream branded items, should you wish to show pride by getting one.
Not sayin they're bad company just that they are limited in their hunting gear and they are geared more towards other outdoor activities.
I shop there but mainly for other items.I found an ugly stick jr pole for my youngin there at a fair price.
I've been to several different ones and the very in what they carry and the quantity as far as Hunting and fishing and that is all I'm trying to say.
From what I have seen at all them I have been too, they are horrible for upland bird hunting. Even lacking for waterfowl. They have mainly deer, turkey, and fishing gear. But they ALWAYS have some clearance items at mine.
dicks is okay they carry more general stuff. more often then not you will have to go back to the local gun shop to get certain brands and types of ammo guns ect. they do have a pretty good selection of fishing stuff
the dicks sporting goods near me is crap they dont know anything luckily theres a sportsman warehouse hear
I have found a lot more deals on my golfing equipment than on my hunting equipment. I have always thought that Dick's was quite pricy and I have never found any deals in the hunting section however I always seem to find something there that I just can't do without.
