I found this book back years ago,and over the years i have been called back to it for it's contents. As much as the literary value of someone who chose to go live in a tent in the Appalachion mountains when he was quite wealthy and was in good standing. But he put together inside of the covers of one book than i have found in multiple books on this topic of living in the wilderness,It simply showed mans ability become one with nature and to live unconstrained. If anyone has the oppurtunity to read this book do so. He was deemed as the Dean of the outdoors by the Boy Scouts of America They placed a brass plaque at his last campsite. His writings will help most outdoorsmen and maybe someday save a life.
This book was written in the early 1900's but has been reprinted multiple times your local library should have it.Good reading and i hope you like it.
Alabamaoutlaw you sold me on the book. I'd like to look for it at my local library, but... What's the title, and who wrote it?
Ditto... I'd like to get a copy myself.
I'll look for it on overstock.com they have a pretty good selection of books
I remeber the book "tracker" the guy that learns to track from a buddy's grandpa, learns to live of the land.. cannot remeber the guys name, wrote 2-3 books but first one was tracker..I believe it was from the 1970's?? 80's??
If you get a chance to look over the US Army Survival manual it's awesome too.
