Might Be A Record

Uploaded on August 29, 2009

Written in the boston Globe a 20 year old boy from Scituate MA (my home town) caught a 10 foot 624lb. male mako and is said it may be a record. It was caught on a chunk of bluefin tuna and took 2 hours to reel in the monster. They then hauled it back to the marina in scituate Harbor.

Heres the pictures and write up:

That's a very big mako. I've only ever seen a 300 lbs one before... But the IFGA record is 1,221 lbs so u will have to double the weight of ur shark to get the record

It actually turns out this is the largest male mako ever caught. The other mako that is 1,221 lbs. is the largest female mako caught.

Good for him! As an former Scituate life-guard I can say that I had to close down a beach or two from time to time on account of reports/sightings of Tiger Sharks and Blue Sharks.
