Pig Bomb

Uploaded on March 30, 2009

If you didn't catch the Discovery channel show called Pig Bomb, then check out the clips on Discovery.com. Easy to understand why wildlife agencies and landowners want wild pigs eradicated.

If its the same show I saw the other day, it was very intersting, it was great to see an issue hunters care about on the Discovery Channel. However one thing that bothered me about the show was how they portrayed hunters. They didn't condemn them, but the hunters they followed and interviewed where not a good representation of most hunters in my opinion. They seemed like back woods folk it seemed like they were trying to make the gentleman look like idiots, and the hunting seemed brutal, they were killing the pigs with dogs. Nothing like the pig hunting most hunters take part in. What did you think about the hunters?

There a lot of them and it never ends. They breed rapidly and are ridiculous to control. Most are nocturnal, so the ones that are harvested during the day, only are a fraction of how many are actually on the land.

Radical idea: how about shipping the "excess" wolves in Montana and Idaho to the Southeast? Or maybe to Central Park (why shouldn't the East Coast environmentalists live with what we in the West do)?

Another radical thought: send "problem" bears as well - nice alternative to being shot in GNP due to "human interaction."

i have farmers asking me all the time if i want to hunt the pigs on their land. i always say yes because most of the time it leads to opportunity to hunt other more " desireable" species.
