The 1st Annual Port Royal Sound Cobia Fishing Tournament
hosted by The Beaufort - Port Royal Convention and Visitors Bureau is a weekend event that will attract hundreds of anglers from the coastal southeast. The Port Royal Sound is nationally known as one of the best locations for Cobia fishing. A world class Cobia tournament is a natural fit for the area. The tournament will provide anglers an incredible fishing experience, evening activities, and an excellent purse. Cash prizes of over $5000 will be awarded in our inaugural year for only a $150 entry fee.

The tournament takes place in the Port Royal Sound, its surrounding waterways, and the Atlantic Ocean. The tournament is scheduled to begin at the Captain's Party at 6:30pm on May 29th, 2009 and ends at 10:00pm May 30th, 2009. The Captain's Party will include a complimentary dinner, beverages, and live entertainment for the Captain and any anglers staying at the Quality Inn at Town Center. Additional anglers may attend the Captain's Party for only $10. Anglers that are registered guests of our Featured Hotel may attend the Captain's Party at no charge. The Measurement Verification located at The Office Sports Bar & Grille will be from 4:30pm - 6:30pm on May 30th, 2009. An Awards Party will follow the weigh-in from 6:30pm - 10:00pm and will feature live entertainment, premium buffet dinner, and complimentary beverages for ALL registered anglers. Family may attend and enjoy the food, beverages, and entertainment for $10 each. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place individual fish by size, largest fish by a female angler, and largest fish by a minor.

A portion of the proceeds and hotel reservations will benefit the Port Royal Sound Fund, an organization dedicated to preserving our lowcountry waterways and fisheries. Your participation and support is greatly appreciated.

Entry Fee: $150 per boat, up to 4 anglers, $10 per additional angler
Prizes: 1st Place - $2009, 2nd Place - $1200, 3rd Place - $800, Biggest Cobia by a Minor- $500, Biggest Cobia by a Female - $250 .
