Bad Questions

Uploaded on May 02, 2009

I see all these responses about people who believe that questions on the answer posts are to blatant and plain. Being 15 I do have many questions and regret if you believe some of them are nonsense but I also try and give answers with maybe a different point of view then some others would. So my question is what to you is a "to plain" of a question to ask.

To me the only bad question is one not asked. Hope this helps.

No such thing as a dumb question, although there might be some dumb answers!

Keep asking!

Ask away. Many of us on here don't know as much as we think we do, including me

This is funny coming from the same people that a month ago were complaining of the non-related questions. Christian Emter, I specifically remember you posting a question asking "How is your day going?" I see where everyone is coming from, I think that the questions are way better now than they used to be, and being a blog, just say and ask what you believe. If they don't like it, that's their problem, not yours.

I think some of the backlash on "stupid" questions was the obvious Q&A coming from regular posters that, based on the knowledge shown in prior postings, were simply posting Q? to rack up points.

Good questions start out with a little bit of background and forethought. Questions like "What is the biggest elk?", "Where is the best place to fish?", etc. require a little lead in. Like "I live in Billings, Montana and would like to know where is the best place to fish around here", instead of a broad question like stated above.

Or like, "I want to hunt mule deer in [my state]. What is a good rifle for that?" instead of "What is the best rifle". Some of the broad, incomplete questions may appear to be time wasters or just plain dumb to some folks.

Good questions are a little more specific and less general. JMHO

After 15 years on the internet, I will say that there ARE dumb questions. The total anonimity ... anonymity... nobody knows you thing, means you can pretty much say anything you want.

Like above, the reference to the "new guys". You can check the answers column and see 20 in a row from the same account. Even good questions or not, they're dumb because the sender doesn't even care about the answers.

As for many basic things, there's a planet not connected to the internet. I had family, friends, co-workers, store owners, and others besides the internet to find out things. My father would show me guns and teach me how to operate and clean them. My grandfather's explaining why he had so many different kinds of rods and reels helped.

I like to touch things, to operate them, to feel how they handle. THAT's where people need to start. Before asking; "What's the best rifle?", they should have SOME idea about rifles, and an opinion of their own.

I do not believe that any internet site should be the FIRST resort for the ignorant.

There does seem to be a number of folks asking questions only to jog up thier points total. How is your day going? Please...

I've noticed that some of the more bland questions, sometimes, turn into some really interesting answers.
I've also noticed people not REALLY answering anything and writing stuff like "I agree" and "ditto" _ now thats an attempt to just jog up points.
