Backlash and Blowback

CANCEL your subscription to Field & Stream!

Uploaded on December 07, 2009

Due to the idiocy of this magazine in the December edition by making Rush Limbaugh a villian, when he is truely a Patriot, and a leader in fighting for our second ammendment rights. I have canceled my subscription to this magazine, and I advise you to do the same, due to the fact of the ill informed who run this magazine. Of all the issues that is going on in this country, and all the threats by liberals to take away our gun rights, socialize health care, raise taxes, and so on. But the jackasses in this magazine wants to go after Rush Limbaugh because he's against Dogfighting? enough is enough people, it is time to end your subscription to Field and Stream, I wouldn't be surprised if they made Ted Nugent out to be a villian, after this current editon. So take your magazine and shuv it up your rear end.

I'm against Dogfighting too but as a conservative i know the HSUS is an ultra-liberal radical leftwing anti-hunting (and anti-gun) group, and deserves the support of no-one with conservative values. Rush knows this too and should not have ties to or support the HSUS. I suspect it may've had something to do with his bid to buy an NFL team, and the dogfighting issue the NFL had the past couple years? Either way, bad move Rush.

Come on HENGST! You gotta stop hiding your feelings and just come out and tell us what you really think! ;-)

I guess I haven't gotten to the part of the Dec issue that you're talking about. I want to read it for myself before I pass judgement. F&S is AGAINST Rush because he opposes DOGFIGHTING? That's the same as saying F&S is FOR DOGFIGHTING. And that's just insane. I can't believe it.

I agree with you that Rush is one of the best, loudest, and most articulate voices for freedom and patriotism - a voice of reason, common sense and traditional values in a world and country going mad.

I'm emotionally torn on this one. I have seen the HSUS do good. They're behind closing of dogfighting rings, and puppy and kitten mills. I've personally seen the results. Go out and help with one of their operations and then try to condemn them.

But yes, the leadership has currently gotten a bit strange. I fear they have been infiltrated by the PETA-type zealots.

And while I don't consider myself too political, I've seen that Rush is right a lot more times than he's been wrong.

Rush really lost some credibility with this - figure of all people he would have done his homework before supporting the HSUS. And, if he did his homework and still supports them, then he is a villian to all sportsmen, no matter his political views.

There is no halfway with the HSUS. Any of you that think otherwise had better pull your head out of the sand and open your eyes. The HSUS is associated with PETA. While PETA is out there to be seen, the HSUS is the slimy underbelly, doing whatever they can, without morals or ethics, chipping away at our hunting, fishing, trapping, and animal husbandry rights. They have filed countless lawsuits against sportsmen's rights in virtually every state. They are well-funded and will stoop to any low to achieve their goals.

Their name alone misleads many people who think they are giving money to state Humane Societies. They are being investigated for this and for misappropriations of many millions of dollars meant for animal welfare after the hurricanes in New Orleans. They even started a scheme using a name that sounded like a pro-hunting organization, taking hunters's money and using it to support anti-hunting activities. It was brought out when people noticed that the people running the organization were also associated with HSUS.

Don't give them an inch, a red cent, or any trust, no matter what they do. They are intent and focused and funded to take away the lifestyles we hold dear.

Also, the U.S. Sportmen's Association (USSA) is doing all they can to keep track of and counter HSUS and other anti-sportmen's efforts, and educate lawmakers, sportsmen, and the public. They also work to introduce more young sportsmen through their Trailblazers program. Take a look at their website and join and support them if you can:

Incidentally, as a note...

Please do not confuse your local Humane Society with the HSUS. Most local Humane Society shelters are not part of, or run by, the HSUS.

That's part of the misleading that goes on a bit with the political side of the HSUS. Your local shelters are not monetarily supported by them.

I just want everybody to know this, so they may support, or at least not stop supporting their locals. They still need supplies, money, and of course, homes for the animals.

The choice wasn't Rush. The choice was Arnold Schwarzenegger, who signed a bill year (AB 962) banning sale of handgun ammunition in California over the internet and placing all sorts of new restrictions on ammo starting 2011. There is lots of ammo that gun stores don't sell that we can only get online; this was anti-gun in every way.

This magazine has become too political and too liberal- from the rantings of Bob Algore Marshall to naming Rush Limbaugh the villian of the year over the likes of Arnold and Ingrid Newkirk. It's become the outdoors bastion of crybaby liberal douchebaggery. The fact that you have people joining because they named Rush the villian of the year tells a lot of the direction of the magazine. That would be a good guess, I have been listening to Rush since I was nine or ten. I know truth when I hear it, I don't take what Rush says at face value, I do my own research as well. The point is if you don't like Rush you are a bitter liberal, your own remarks tell me that much. Rush has been right on far more subjects than he has been wrong on. He has a very good track record and I would say that a large percentage of Americans agree with me. He has the most listened to talk show in America, I would wager that most of those listeners agree with most of what Rush has to say.

Rush lives off of fear. He is like a vulture looking for any issue that he can feed on as it rots under the heat of the media glare. Rush is not a truth teller, but a truth manipulator. He skews stories every way he can to polarize us, the audience. When he has established his bogeyman, then he has succeeded in his effort of stopping dialog. We are left with the dittoheads scared of or distrustful enough, of anyone with a view differing from their own, that they can do nothing but point and mutter obscenities under their breath.

Well, this is interesting! Here's Rabbit criticizing someone for protecting his wallet and his job and supposedly not worrying about anyone else (although Matt didn't really say that). But those of us who advocate a national health plan that would make health care available for everyone and turn the tables over on the life-robbing, blood-money mongering insurance companies, well we're nothing but liberal ghouls trying to bring down America. Why? Because we care about looking out for others and not just big business. I don't know if that makes me a "liberal" or not. But I do know this kind of attitude definitely classifies me as a Christian.

This reminds me of a preciou moment years ago when I was teaching high school in a northern Idaho rural community. I announced one morning in freshman general science class that we would be starting a new unit on ecology. A boy in the back of the room jumped to his feet and hollered "Like hell! My dad told me those ecologists are a bunch of damned communists." Well, that came out of left field! After a momentary pause I asked the young man if his dad had tole him what a communist was. He retorted back "An ecologist!" I left it at that: Danny's dad was killed a few months before in a logging accident. The moral of the story: explore fully all facets of "labels" before you commit to them. Perhaps it is wrong to commit to judging people based on labels - e.g. "Samaritan". Better think about that one.

If you are so against capitalism and a free market then go live in France for a year and see how you like it. America has the best health care program in the entire world. I don't ever hear stories of people leaving the states for better treatment or for better doctors. I have many relatives that live in England and friends that live in France and I can tell you first hand that Government run health care is a total disaster. Also a loss of so much freedom that it would be laughable to even call America "free" if it ever comes to pass. You have taken what the liberal left wing media has fed you and taken it hook line and sinker. You clearly have no idea what a disaster government run health care is. I have not labeled Matt or you, Honker, you both have labeled yourselves with your own mouths.
Matt: "if I was to claim a party it would be which one keeps me employed, my wallet fat, and safe, so for me it is independant, me, myself and I". Honker, yes, he really did say that.

Proof of your double standard, your on the website, that is promoted by the same magazine that you said you do not read, that is a double standard.

No, not whining and complaining,as I said, what your saying lacks the merit I choose to listen to. Twisted= well not really, but for your sake I will not go there.

You do not know your history at all, probably because you have government run education. You honestly think the founding fathers wanted liberty from England just so they could get rich? My friend I highly suggest you go and read John Adam's autobiography. Having the ability to become rich without being taxed to death was one of the many results of the Revolution. I guarantee you that all those thousands of men that died for the Cause of freedom were not fighting to become rich. That has got to be the most outrageous most disrespectful comment I have ever heard. I never questioned you "duty" to the US, I never accused you of being anti American so don't try and use that line on me. Who's whining or complaining,if you could go back and read you would see that everyone is voicing their concerns that you can't hold a intelligent conversation. They tried to address your Pidgeon holing any veiw other than yours down to one label or another;telling others to pound sand, salt or any other mineral;looking for spelling errors instead of reading for content;asserting your more authoritive when you offer no credentials; dismissing the others view without knowing there credentials;posting inaccurate information based on what you believe;dismissing information based on source and not veting the information;not suppling a source for your fact yet you ask others to back their fact;telling others to go do the research when you don't know how to do it yourself;telling others to go and educate themselves when you clealy have never tried[fore mentioned items]and clearly stating you hold to a higher morality than others on this site ,when you don't know anyone here.
When a man is the sum of his words, then a man should know how to use them, know when not to use them and certainly read all of them. That would make him a man.You say there are too many sex ads in Field & Stream.I don't see them, but that would be the difference between us.I'm a happily married man in a active marriage,I can turn a page and read the magazine for its content and perticipate in life outside my home.I'm sure you go hunting and fishing to clear your head , when it comes to Field & Stream your head is not on hunting and fishing.
Your the one who needs to go and find another web site;pissing on others views ,giving out bad advice just to get the easy points, posting topics not related hunting of fishing just to get a rise and points.

All of these and your name seems to be derived from the story of a woman in Hillsboro,Oregon who was charged with RABBIT hoarding by POLICE and had "88" frozen rabbits in the freezer.
This leads me to think your a PETA member or some other anti.

I would hope your not,if you can't be voted off ,then for the sake of this forum retire your name, come back as a man who can be tolerant of another opinion that differs from your unfounded facts. That way everyone can share and learn about hunting and fishing without being sidelined by this other garbage.
Well rabbit
What are you here for ,hunting and fishing or are you here to disrupt others from sharing in it?
You don't have to subscibe to Field & Stream to post here.Although there are other sources of info that you don't subscribe to that have websites more appropriate for the subjects you choose to follow. Why don't you go there ,then come back to Field & Stream when you want to talk hunting and fishing.
What you say to others you differ with ? Thats right " go somewhere else ,this site is for people interested in hunting and fishing"
Think first before you tell me to prove anything I've said ,you have spewed enough, now look at your own profile and "go educate yourself"

Intolorant, who is the one that is wanting me to get voted off the website? Who is the one who wants me to change my name? Typical liberal, if you can't deal with the competition, you either silence it or try and intimidate the opposition into silence. Liberals have been trying to do that with the "fairness doctrine" I am sure you are familiar with that one.

Gees, I finally did some homework on this liberal-bashing Limbaugh character. Too bad more folks don't. Let's see ... he was a washed out rock & roll DJ; a racist pro football commentator (needless to say that vocation was shortlived!); a college drop out who, by his own mother's admission "flunked everything"; no military service though of age during the Vietnam War; and, most recently, a convicted drug thief who did eighteen months in rehab. Oh well, nobody's perfect. On air he has lampooned Michael J. Fox's parkinon's disease as a phoney "act". He has described the disgusting Abu Ghraib jail torture and prisoner abuse incident as American soldiers having a "good time." It was all just some well-deserved military "recreation." Hmmm. Maybe that explains why he's not stepping up to the plate to do any USO tours? Also on air, he described the Clinton's young daughter as "the White House dog." He has parodied AIDS victims as sexually capricious. Well, he would know all about that. Rush Limbaugh goes through women faster than I can wear out levis. Five different women have had serious relationships with him since 1977. Three of them ended in divorce. Curiously, one of his last flings (which began while he was still married) was with TV host Daryn Kagan. She's Jewish and definitely appears to be very liberal. A man of genuine conviction! I'm surprised that this gig lasted 16 months. Oh, and Rush does so much charity work - but only if it gives him some media coverage. Ya gotta spend some money to make a lot more.

I can't believe this loser is the most listened-to media voice in America. Unfortunately, history has shown that twisted hate-mongers do well in the media in hard times. Everyone is looking for a quick fix and someone to blame. Worked for Hitler too. That loser managed to get millions killed.

A president can only do what the politicians allow him to do and the politicians do what the big money says they can do or they face hardtimes with all those lobbyists.....
Some more history on ole Rush Limpballs that these younger people never bother to read about..Rush Limpballs used his pilonidal cyst - a congenital but operable birth defect - to
avoid military service in the Vietnam War...
In 1971 Limballs attended Southeastern Missouri University,
where, according to reports, he had a brief but heated affair
with Elliot Sanders. So gay is Limbaugh, guarantees Sanders,
that, "none of his marriages was ever consummated."...
After more failed stints with Missouri radio stations Limballs
moved to Sacramento, CA, where he met and became "friends"
with Norm Woodruff, a flamboyant, openly gay man with a
great deal of influence in the local radio scene. Woodruff, who
mentored Limbaugh in the ways of affluence and elitism (traits
Rush mocks today), who later died of AIDS....
Limballs briefly worked for radio stations in Pittsburgh, PA and Kansas City,MO. Fired from both jobs, he worked as a wiener salesman for the KC Royals baseball franchise....LOL
selling wieners is a good job for him......I bet with his big fat mouth and floppy jowls he could break the world record of wiener stuffing!!!! (((PUN INTENDED)))

HI,
I have never written to a blog before, but this one article is WAY TOO MUCH! Issue of March 2010, page 27. I am hoping that I am interpretting the article wrong, but I read it as saying the mining laws of 1872 should be changed. Conservationists want all mining done away with and it sounds like your magazine does, also. I love the outdoors and so do my family and friends. Part of the time is hunting, part time is fishing and the rest of the time is dredging for gold. We are not hurting the enviroment in any way and it is being proven all over again. Just as one or two bad hunters will close off areas that used to be open to other hunters, bad miners will give other miners a bad name. Remember, once you start to close or outlaw certain outdoor activities, others will follow. There is talk of banning recreational fishing out here on the west coast. Next it will be all hunting rights, what then, banning a walk on the beach. It is time to make a change and Obama sure as hell is not the one to do it. He is fake from the start and just getting worse!!

Dan- here is my issue with liberals. I love capitalism many liberals do not (not all but a fair share), more liberals than conservatives buy into the BS poured out by the HSUS and PETA (this in the end could end hunting and fishing forever), more liberals than conservatives are for strict gun laws. I know not ALL liberals are like this. However, when liberals who are fans of capitalism and hunting allow someone to come into power who has all along been against these I have some problems.

Liberal or conservative I don't care, but if you start to ignore the constitution, restrict hunting, "redistribute wealth", ignore the bill of rights, and expand government, I WILL have some problems. Granted many republicans (not real conservatives though) seem to be fine with the expanded government and ignore the constitution and bill of rights as well. However, more often than not it is liberals who fall into the above category.

But personally, Dan, you seem to be like a descent person so regardless of your political stance I respect your knowledge and love of not just the outdoors but HUNTING!

Cheers,

Yes, but one of us is right and one of us is wrong, I personally will go with the founding fathers on almost every issue when it comes to running this country. Conservatism is the way to go, a free market, low taxes and hard working, can do attitude. A patriotism that can hardly be contained. An economically free country, a country that is not a socialist state. The land of the free and home of the brave, a limited government, of the people, by the people and for the people. That is the country I want. Liberals flat out do not believe in any of this, they believe in quite the opposite actually. I know this because half my family is liberal and the other half is conservative. For crying out loud look at what obama has done to this country in the short time he has been in office. He has done more to destroy the country that our founding fathers fought and died for than any other man that ever lived. The US is no longer even considered the most economically free country in the world any more. Canada is Considered more free than we are, does this not anger you to your very core. This is a slap in the face of freedom and the men who died to protect it.

I agree with you that Rush is one of the best, loudest, and most articulate voices for freedom and patriotism - a voice of reason, common sense and traditional values in a world and country going mad.

+6 Good Comment? | | Report
from Jeff4066 wrote 2 years 9 weeks ago

Incidentally, as a note...

Please do not confuse your local Humane Society with the HSUS. Most local Humane Society shelters are not part of, or run by, the HSUS.

That's part of the misleading that goes on a bit with the political side of the HSUS. Your local shelters are not monetarily supported by them.

I just want everybody to know this, so they may support, or at least not stop supporting their locals. They still need supplies, money, and of course, homes for the animals.

But yes, the leadership has currently gotten a bit strange. I fear they have been infiltrated by the PETA-type zealots.

Cheers,

He skews stories every way he can to polarize us, the audience. When he has established his bogeyman, then he has succeeded in his effort of stopping dialog. After more failed stints with Missouri radio stations Limballs

Rush has made some stupid mistakes, but in general he's with us.

I subscribed to F&S for almost seven years and finally got tired of all the sex adds and I noticed that the quality of the material was going down hill and they were starting to veer off to the left. I am responsible for where I send my money, you do what you want with yours but I will not knowingly support something that is so in your face wrong. What Rush did may have been wrong but he is by no means the worst enemy that F&S could have come up with in the whole USofA. They named Obama a hero because they got a picture of him supposedly fishing in a stream. Obama is far more of an enemy than Rush will ever be. I know you don't like him and I know you aren't a big fan of hunting and fishing because you always seem to show up in all the threads but the hunting and fishing ones. If you want to believe that obama is the hero of conservation and the poster boy for outdoors men everywhere than you go ahead. It is a bald faced lie, look at all the Czars that he has surrounded himself with. They are all about as anti hunting, anti guns as you can get. Go educate yourself.

This used to be how American's took care of themself and their families
It is quite funny how a person who does not subscribe to the magazine, has so much to say on that magazine's webstie, and your only reply is sex ads/hard earned money, weak.
This thread was about Rush/dog fighting. I do not like either.

Being responsible for what I say, I am.
No, words do not describe a person, the actions of those words are what describes people, and as I stated, you (Rabbitpolice) are a hypercryte(sp)that there says spelling mistake I note.
Again, name calling for something so "not needed" / "i kant spel, haha (that is me laughing)

Yes this thread is in the right place, but quite funny now, with that does the owner of it "pagunowner" even exist? posted and left, yet we keep alive? makes me wonder?!

Rush is America's best allie? well yes he is, an allie of phizer/ or any other drug company, and do not say he is in pain, you don't know about back pain, yes I do, I took care of it, with excerise.

No, he is nothing more then an old white male, with a bunch of clonies who think they know something, but it is nonsense.

So Mr.rabbit/rush supporter, I have nothing else to say, it is a waste of time, I wish you the very best, but this is no longer even remotely fun chatting with you, your commnets lack the merit I want to respond to.

Our outdoor brother&sisterhood is united in our love of the outdoors, but differ on our preferred styles of hunting and fishing. When you go beyond the commonalities that we share in the field you will find that our personal stories, histories, paths followed, and the resultant beliefs held may differ greatly, but are wonderfully different. Drop the threats and move beyond the simple black and white fox driven simplification of our national body politic.

HI,
I have never written to a blog before, but this one article is WAY TOO MUCH!
If I read another article about him and his "wonderful politics" I will cancel my subscription.
