Carroll National Guard To Conduct Door To Door Gun Confiscation Drills in Arcadia, Iowa

The Daily Times Herald is reporting that the Carroll National Guard is planning a 4 day exercise April 2nd through April 5th 2009.
From the article:
The purpose of the April 2-5 drill will be to gather intelligence, then search for and apprehend a suspected weapons dealer, according to Sgt. Mike Kots, readiness NCO for Alpha Company.
Citizens, law enforcement, media and other supporters will participate.
Troops will spend Thursday, April 2, staging at a forward operations base at Carroll. The next day company leaders will conduct reconnaissance and begin patrolling the streets of Arcadia to identify possible locations of the weapons dealer.
The primary phase will be done Saturday, April 4, when convoys will be deployed from Carroll to Arcadia. Pictures of the arms dealer will be shown in Arcadia, and soldiers will go door to door asking if residents have seen the suspect.
Soldiers will knock only at households that have agreed to participate in the drill, Kots noted.
I’m really curious to know how they’re going about getting permission. Are they asking everyone if they want to or telling them they’re coming and accepting objections? What kind of pressure are they coming?
“Once credible intelligence has been gathered,” said Kots, “portions of the town will be road-blocked and more in-depth searches of homes and vehicles will be conducted in accordance with the residents’ wishes.
In accordance with the residents’ wishes? Because the people or Arcadia actually voted on this and then directed the mayor to invite the national guard to come hang out.
“One of the techniques we use in today’s political environment is cordon and knock,” Kots explained. “We ask for the head of the household, get permission to search, then have them open doors and cupboards. The homeowner maintains control. We peer over their shoulder, and the soldier uses the homeowner’s body language and position to protect him.”
YAY!! You get to help the military search your house for illegal (any) guns. I hate being left out of all the fun.
During this phase of the operation, troops will interact with residents and media while implementing crowd-control measures and possibly treating and evacuating injured persons.
The unit will use a Blackhawk helicopter for overhead command and control, and to simulate medevacs.
The drill will culminate in the apprehension of the suspected arms dealer.
Because that’s what the military is for, chasing down suspected arms dealers in American cities.
In addition to surveillance, searching and apprehension, the exercise will also give the troops valuable experience in stability, support, patrol, traffic control, vehicle searches and other skills needed for deployment in an urban environment.
“This exercise will improve the real-life operational skills of the unit,” said Kots. “And it will hopefully improve the public’s understanding of military operations.”
Wow, you’d think the military is getting ready to spend a lot of time in American cities in the future, I wonder why?
The pre-drill work with residents is as important at the drill itself.
“It will be important for us to gain the trust and confidence of the residents of Arcadia,” said Kots. “We will need to identify individuals that are willing to assist us in training by allowing us to search their homes and vehicles and to participate in role-playing.”
Yes, going in pre-invasion and doing intel/recon is a great military tactic.
“We really want to get as much information out there as possible, because this operation could be pretty intrusive to the people of Arcadia.”
Intrusive? No, not at all.
Seriously not at all legal via the Constitution. And who's hair brained idea was it to allow this to happen?
I'm just saying Americans better be ready to fight to keep what little freedoms we have left.
Anybody else see "someones" hand in this ?
Yes, our anti American president's hand is written all over it.
I am telling you that if the Government comes for your guns and takes them you will never see them again. Do you realize what will happen to this country with a disarmed population? It will be total loss of anything that even smells like freedom.
This goes out to the IOWA boys you took the same oath and stated in that oath is the
OATH TO PROTECT AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION NOT INFRINGE UPON IT!
Moral Obligation:
To not do anything that is ILLEGAL, IMMORAL or UNETHICAL
This meets the criteria since it states the MILITARY will not conduct house to house search and seizures, and forced quartering (occupation of houses. (BILL OF RIGHTS)
If they do this they are no better than the Brits and their sympathizers during the Revolution and the Yankees during the forced occupation of the South during the reconstruction period.
What next Inprisonment without trials just because you disagree with something?
This is purely unconstitional and should NOT BE ALLOWED TO TAKE PLACE. I believe that it is a sign of what is to come. Check out these sites if you dare. We have a war coming. I have to go but more to come.

I pray we make it through the next 3 years. All I can say is join the NRA, or any other 2nd amendments rights organization. Voice your opinion to YOUR elected officials. I wish I knew what will happen in the next 20 years, heck i'm only 40, I don't. But I do know that if those of us that normally have sat back and not said anything keep staying silent it won't be good. I will say that I have been one of the ones that have stayed (fairly) quiet but the more I hear the way things are going our children and grandchildren aren't going to have a chance because they won't have anyway to defend the constitution that my forefathers defended with their blood and lives. I'm not some radical that's going to wig out or nothing but I will defend my rights and would hope that we(ALL) will start standing up for them against those that want to press their will against us,(those that think that gun regulation will lower crime rate, look at the crime rate in the states that now let their citizens be armed) before we end up like other countries who have given their rights up and look where their at now. I won't even get into my feelings on the Civil War but if we don't start standing up now we're really going to be screwed as time goes on. This is just my feelings and my opinion and we all know what they say about opinions. I'd love to hear more comments about this. R.Lowe
Ain't coming through my door way!
EVERYONE- BE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING-
Billionaire George Soros's protégé, Rebecca Peters, runs the IANSA which coordinates the gun prohibition efforts of groups around the world, including the Brady Campaign in America.
IANSA claims at least 500 accomplices worldwide and is fund with countless millions from governments (including ours), international foundations, and billionaires like Soros.
spreading its dangerous doctrine of civil disarmament, IANSA receives the patronage of the same governments that push gun prohibition at the U.N.
In effect, IANSA is the cutting-edge public relations arm of the U.N.'s gun prohibition campaign. Rebecca Peters was very forthright in saying that the gun prohibition movement was aimed squarely at Americans: "Americans are people like everyone else."
A side note- Soros is a Hungarian billionaire that has many ties to interests in the U.S. He is the one that encourged Obama to run for president.
Also, the UN hoped that Clinton would be elected, he was (twice), the UN hoped Gore, then Kerry would be elected, they weren't. Then they hoped Obama would be elected, he was, they got their man in.
(Democrats are notorious for being antigun) The antigun movement around the world always wants an antigun president in the United States. Check out the links I posted above.
No free men shall be debarred the use of arms.
-Thomas Jefferson
To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.
-Richard Henry Lee
Be careful of who you vote for. Know the canidates stand on gun rights and vote accordingly. Anyone that is a gun owner and voted for Obama and Biden, voted against their gun rights. It's time those gun owners wake up to the reality of what is going on. The media doesn't report this stuff as they to are antigun.
Do anti abortion people vote for pro abortion candidates? Hardly. Gun owners better get passionate about the guns rights or we will lose them. THERE IS AN ANTI GUN MOVEMENT THAT IS GLOBAL. Vote antigun politcians out and keep them out!!!!!
There are 70 million gun owners in this country. IF EVERY ONE OF THOSE GUN OWNERS VOTED TO KEEP OUR RIGHTS WE WOULDN"T HAVE TO WORRY. But that isn't the way it is. Too many people are complacant about it saying "thats our second amendment". The problem is too many politicans don't view it that way. They see the second amendment as a problem.
Attorney General once said when he was assistant attorney general under Janet Reno in the Clinton days "The second amendment should br abolished". Do you think he said that for the fun of saying it? No, he meant what he said, and now he is the attorney general. Matter of fact, Obamas' administration has many there were in the Clinton administration. THEY ARE AS ANTIGUN AS ANTIGUN CAN GET.
So true all of the above. We are rapidly becoming the minority. This younger generation and hippie generation who knows what will be in store for us in our future.
Democracey at its best.
American fighting American I wonder how this one will come out.
i don't know... and hopefully we won't see it happen again.
Just like an old dog, want fight until pushed in a corner but look out no holes barred.A lot of the fellows in the National Guard haven't a clue about field warfare, although they have great weaponry. What ALL would happen, looting, robbing, murder to gather and garner supplies along with a battle to gather weapons from honest people, can they gather the weapons from the people who have them illegally. There will be more than two factions in this fracious.
Alabamaoutlaw
That kinda already happened once alabamaoutlaw, the Civil War. Over 400,000 killed, I can't even imagine what it would be like if it happened again. Granted we would be fighting over something totally different but still it's a scary thought.
True... and I don't like the way it's headin anymore than you do
That war was a very insightful war on how a Gov't would react to states rights and seccession.
Notorious attrocities: Sherman and his march south, Reconstruction (Forced Occupation) Inprisonment and Executions without trials.
I personally think that is not somethin I want any child or family to deal with.
it is scarey thinkin about it.
Totally agree with you
Given the options roll-over and submit or fight.Because once the arms have been collected the looters will be right behind them with thier own weapons. The war will be with whoever comes to take what is not thiers. Why not practice on the collection of guns from the one's who possess guns illegally. They can't do it as easy.
Alabamaoutlaw
People need to wake up on this issue and join the NRA. They publish in their magazines who votes for or against guns.Only hypocrites own guns and beleive in the second amendment, but then go and vote for idiots that are for gun control, disarment, or any other regulations on guns.
I would like to know who in the hell wrote this. 1. Who in the hell is the Carrol National Guard? The Guard is broken up by state and then individual units not by town. 2. This is not even within the realm of the duties of the Guard, unless it happens to be the Iowa Counter Drug program.
To those who say we Guardsmen dont have a clue about field warfare you are sorely mistaken. What do you think we do at drills or annual training? We train! My unit in Iraq made the active guys doing the same thing look like a bunch of dumbshits.
Clay Cooper, what are you trying to do by digging up this year old non-event. The responses have two characteristics; the first plays to the irrational fear that the government will be knocking on our doors to steal our guns, forgetting that the NRA is one of, if not the most, powerful lobbbies in Washington and in every state. The other characteristic is to attack the National Guard, and undermine the need for training. As the local paper reported "Company A, 1st Battalion, 168th Infantry had planned a four-day exercise the first weekend of April (2009) to practice cordon-and-search operations in an urban environment. The drill - which would use only homes that agreed to participate - would've involved searching for and apprehending a suspected weapons dealer, valuable practice should the air-assault infantry company again be deployed to the Mideast."
The paranoid reactionary response to the first article, which Clay provided in an edited and amended form, was due to Alex Jones mischaracterizing the training event on his radio show, then writing about it on his web site. The local paper, Daily Times Herald, reported on 2/23/09: "Infowars.com posted The Times Herald's article without permission, and although full credit was given, the Web site misled its visitors by changing the headline to say "Iowa National Guard to train for gun confiscation." Guard officials had no intention and made no mention of searching Arcadia homes for weapons, and the newspaper's headline read "Guardsmen to conduct urban training at Arcadia."
The Web site didn't correct its headline until requested by The Times Herald via e-mail Friday afternoon."
The viral nature of this article resulted in Mr. Cooper reprinting it as it first appeared on Alex Jones web site, prior to being corrected.

It doesn't matter if you vote for Dakotah Dan or the other side. I understand his side. Alex Jones is an extremist, but Alex Jones isn't the enemy.
The government is the problem. You HAVE TO RESEARCH THE ANTI GUN MOVEMENT!!!!!! It is a global movement that is squarely against our gun rights.
Look at abortion activists. They do not vote for the opposing side.
WHY SHOULD GUN OWNERS VOTE FOR ANTIGUN POLITICANS just because they think our gun rights are secure? They are taking their rights for grants period. We shouldn't be complacent about our rights. THEY CAN BE TAKEN AWAY.
Our gun rights are far from being secure. A quote from Thomas Jefferson-
" A government big enough to give you everything you need, is big enough to take everything away."
My Bad- Acoupleof typos so here is a revised version.
