Guns
Anyone care to post the good and the bad of your experience with a manufacturer's service department?
I recently had great service from Bushnell in replacing my 5 year old scope for free in honor of their lifetime warranty.
Great service from Browning a year ago when my new BLR had chambering problems.
ALWAYS great service from Hornady for my reloading equipment! You can call those guys / gals about anything and they'll give whatever it takes to find a solution.
I started a thread some time ago titled "I swore I'd never buy a Taurus".
http://www.fieldandstream.com/forums/backlash-and-blowback/i-swore-id-ne...
As I've thought about it and reread the comments, my major gripe is that there has been no REAL customer service that would help build confidence in their product.
Other than problems with my Whitfield Pellet Stove -- Taurus is at the top of my poor service list.
In my opinion, Cabelas has the best customer service that I have encountered in the hunting and fishing world. They back every product they sell, no matter what the complaint.
I do a lot of field work in my job, and I had 10 pairs of wading boots fail (soles fell off). They took back everyone without question as well as an additional 4 that I told them I didn't have time to return later (these looked fine at the time).
That is just one example of the excellent service I have received from them over the years.
Worst - Dell, Dish Network, Rocky Boots, AT&T / Cingular . Best - Bushnell, Hp, Cabelas, Hornady, Sears
The Ft Carson PX..worst customer service ever, people are absolutely rude (I almost got arrested, whoops...joker got fired a few days later).....Cabelas is ok... AT&T has been good taking care of a bogus charge....Sig Sauer..excellent..Berger Bullets top rate... The best customer service is when I have no further contact with a company after purchasing a product..Remington, Ruger, Winchester get A+'s for that

Mossberg
Parker Bows
ESS (Safety Glasses)
T Town Tack in Tappahannock, VA: Great bunch of gals in their.. They reshaped and cleaned my Resistol hat for a fair price and gave me great advice.

Walmart Sporting goods Dept. Watertown NY (Refused to sell me a fishing license though I was in their states DNR system and Stationed there.
Dicks Sporting Goods Watertown NY Refused to sell me a Hunting license though I was in their DNR system and met the requirements while Statiponed there.
Both lost my business to Gander Mountain which I went to right after the refusal of Wal Mart and Dicks and bought my License with NO issues.
Green Top Sporting Goods Ashland VA (Archery Dept.) The guy was rude to me when trying to buy a bow and was givin me a hard time because of the type of bow package and draw weight I was looking at due to a my Shoulder injury ...(Bass Pro Shops got that sale plus all of my Archery equipment sales. That Parker Bow sure shoots well and my Shoulder thanks me)
Walmart Sporting Goods: No Ammo, Lack of Quality Hunting Gear.
I have been trying to load 4000 rounds of 223 ammo and all my cases were military cases. Needless to say they deprime hard. I broke 2 pins in my universal heavy duty decapper which is a Lyman. When I contacted them they sent me one and I broke it and contacted them again and they have me two in the mail. I explained to them that it was probably my fault but they said no problem enjoy the new decapping pins. That is my definition of outstanding service. I have also enjoyed the same service from RCBS.
I swore I'd never buy another Redfield scope after they burned us in Alaska. But since Leupold is now the owner of the Company, I wouldn't give it a second thought in buying a new Redfield under Leupold's Warranty.
Back in 87? 88? a fella took one hell of a fall on a sheep hunt wiping out his Leupold scope. He called me at work and met me out at the range and the scope actually looked like a D9 Cat ran over it NO JOKE! He sent it back to Leupold and they sent him back a brand new scope! The front bell was bent at the joint on the tube and they said it should not have bent!!! Now is that service or what!
Keep the comments coming guys -- this keeps us all in the know of where we ought to put our sporting dollars!
After the way Chevy has treated me, I'll never buy a new truck!
