Backlash and Blowback

Is history repeating itself?

Uploaded on September 30, 2009

You know how America happened. Columbus sailed that ocean blue. The Pilgrims were tired of Religious prosecution. They left to break away from the tyranny. They were taxed, liberties were stripped, they rebelled. Free rights for everyone*

*Except for Blacks, Women, Native Americans, Poor men, etc.

Wars were fought, things changed, and everyone was free. Even Indians were citizens and women could vote. Free at last, free at last, God Almighty, we're free at last.

Now we sink into the dark ages, again. I hear stories of my dad going to school with a buck knife in his back pocket, and noone said a word. My high school just did a mass search for drugs and sent many kids to Alternative Education for having everything from Advil to broken air soft guns, to multi tools with knives in 'em. I can't read certain books at school, because they have cussing and killing. They have REALITY. But schools don't like reality. Life, but covered in plastic...

They try to tax radio, Email, shut down Pawn shops, set ammo restrictions and bans, and all that good stuff. Prayer is banned from certain schools. Censors, in alot of ways, are worse than they were before. I can see blood, guts, and gore (only human, not animal. Hunting shows=no no..) and hear the S word... Our human body is our greatest taboo. No nudity on T.V. But I can go to the streets and see these 10 year olds wearing short skirts and tank tops...

My guns are a taboo. I can have them, but to use them is a mess of paperwork.

Do you see where I'm getting at? Our country is continually being bombarded with bullsh*t while dumbass Obama kisses up to the Arabian King and the Muslim Community! Our last couple of "conquests" here in America have had to do with OTHER COUNTRIES! Its great to help out, but in doing so, we've let ourselves slip.

I think soon there is going to be another "rebellion", not of Anarchists, but of people who want the TRUE America back. And, I don't know if it is Illegal to say this nowadays, but I'm with them. I might not make any sense, but it feels good to vent.

I hear you. I also would add that we are not allowed to take risks anymore. If I don't want to wear a helmet or seatbelt, or if I want to smoke (which I don't), or if I want to jump off the pier in Lake Michigan (I live in W. Michigan), I should darn well be able to. I'm a big boy and I can take my own responsibility for my own actions, thank you very much. People will not learn a thing or enjoy life when they are protected from everything and anything that some busybody/politician thinks has the potential to be bad for them.

When I was in school in the late 70's and early 80's; All of us farm boys wore a folding knife on our belts in school. One year in my wood shop class I brought in an old .22 rifle that needed a new stock. I kept it in my locker and brought it out every day to work on it and no one ever said a word.
Ahhh... the good ol days

I remember us shooting our compound bows at targets under the bleachers during recess. We had to get approval from the principal and shoot in a spot that was fenced and was sort of enclosed away from everyone else. He was of the mind that we were at least sort of doing something constructive. There is no way in Hell that would happen at a school now.

Just remember on that history thing that history is also constantly being written and rewritten, whether it needs to be or not. Think about that. Think about how opinion has been inserted into textbooks over the years, especially so now more than ever.

Yep...history does repeat itself;even if we REMEMBER the past. We are creatures of habit, but the good old days may return if history will cooperate!

One of our good friends libertyfirst quoted it best last week:

"The idea that we should be expected to follow all laws blindly is repugnant."

Personally, I think this country is run too much by money than intelligence, good judgement, and common sense. I want TRUE America back.

cverstate: EXACTLY!!! I think people true freedom means people making their own decisions and taking their own risks! The only way we learn is to do stupid stuff.

Moosehunter: Wow , I envy you. Nowadays, you would have been hauled straight to intensive counseling and been fined out the ass.

sgaredneck: I also envy you. I would kill to have been able to practice archery at recess (Though I have no recess anymore.).

I got in trouble for bringing a water bottle to school, because they were scared that it was liquor. >:(

Sadly it seems very true. Nobody wants to take resposibility for themselves. They want to be able to blame everyone but themselves. All of these special interest groups are full of people with opinions and not facts. I was always told opinions are like a butthole, everybody has one. We all know what comes from there and it is as usefull as most opinions.

We need a resurgence to take back our morality on a personal level first and foremost. We need to instill a sense of honor and values to our children. They are being influenced WAY too much by pop-culture and the school system. That mixed with complacent parenting on way too large a level puts this nations at its current crossroads. Are we going to take it back one person at a time, or are we going to let go?

Even if we elect the right people, there will still be the ills of society and the problems out there which are turning people in the wrong direction.

The fight for the hearts of this nations will have to be a trickle-up effect that requires all that can stand up for their beliefs.

This country is based on the freedom of a man to do what he will, but its also based on Judeo-Christian values (highly written into the laws and the Constitution), and hard work. It won't be easy, but we can take this country back. It can't be done by 1, or 535 people, but by the millions who are willing to stand up and defend their morals... God willing with a pen before it comes to arms.

Hell I graduated high school in 2001 and we were allowed to have pockets knives, it was in the school rule book. It was also in the school guidlines that student could have a bow or rifle locked in their cars. I was in a only slightly rural area but not to much so, just north of Roanoke,VA. I am sure it is different now but you don't have to look far into the past to see common sense.

Things definitely aren't the way they used to be. My father in law told me how that when he was a kid, he could take his rifle to school and leave it in the principal's office until after school, so he could go hunting with his friends afterwards.

I will give you the fact that there are similarities to past evenst, and history frequently repeats itself - if only because people never really change, but we will probably not see a rebellion anytime soon. The reason why the American Civil War, for instance, was allowed to happen was because there was widespread local support by the local governments and militias. In other words, you'd have to have states seceding again, or it would be too hard to mount any sort of large scale operation.

Sure, guerilla warfare might be possible, but with it come all the logistical and intelligence problems typically associated with that.

Dissent does not always mean open revolt, there are several levels of unrest we've have to pass through before we reached that point.
