Backlash and Blowback

Hunting videos

Uploaded on October 19, 2009

What do people think of nowadays hunting videos? I think they're fake. In real life, we don't kill giant bucks all the time. For most of us its a once in a lifetime opportunity. They take the meaning of deer hunting away. They make it seem like if you don't kill a monster, you're not hunting. I think that a new hunter could get turned off from deer hunting by watching these videos and shows. In the old videos, they really hunted; they shot what they wanted too. They are exciting to watch. And what about the "cull" buck. Who are they to call a deer a cull? I just feel like they're taking deer hunting and throwing what it is all about out the door. I just wanted to know if I was the only one who felt this way. What do yall think?

Spot on.

I was a big buck hunter once. I have much more fun now just hunting and making good clean kills. Watch Fred Eichler with Eastons Bowhunting. Any buck is a good buck to him.

I agree 100%. Those videos aren't about showing what hunting is really like or what it is really about. All they care about is selling their videos, and the only way they know how to do it is to cram in as much footage of the biggest bucks they can.

I think that I prefer the taste of a doe or spike to the taste of a nasty old 15 point... I am a meat hunter, so I tend to look at body mass, not just antlers, but they sure make a pretty bonus.

This is true, nothing will turn a would be hunter off more than if he thinks he is failing. Hunting is about putting food on the table and spending time in the great outdoors with those you care about. I think every deer is a trophy because you had to work for it.

Hunting shows can have a double edge sword. They may get more people into hunting, but they may get people into hunting for the wrong reasons. Uncle Ted show can be great, he is known for taking spikes on t.v. as long as they have back straps he is happy.
