Backlash and Blowback

I am getting so angry...

Uploaded on September 13, 2009

I don't know about you, but I am really tired of the pain in our side that is the extreme anti hunter. One particular idiot swore that deer and rabbits were endangered, and then called Christians idiots for "shoving religion down people's throats."

I don't mind them being non religious at all. But for her to categorize Christians like that, and then turn around and try to change MY way of life is just pure freaking hypocrisy!

Claiming that deer and rabbits are endangered is just IGNORANT and plain DUMB! She is either uneducated, or just IGNORANT!

I'm just tired of Anti Hunting Hypocrisy and Ignorance. If I EVER catch one on MY property, messing with my stand or feeder, I will knock every veggie chewing tooth out of their heads!

Anyone else as angry as I am now???

Calm down. You are trying to rationalize with someone who is not rational. You would have more luck convincing a Ford that it was a Chevrolet. The anti's want you to be mad. Do yourself a favor and get in the woods and hunt. That's the best form of protest I can think of.

Getting angry doesn't do you any good. If they wind up on your property, call law enforcement. You will do yourself more harm than good fighting with anyone. Rise above their level and you will beat them every time. Fall to theirs and you will lose.

The best thing to do is be the best hunter, steward of nature, and most ethical sportsman you can be. None of that falls in any of their plan. If you are a Christian, your best witness is to try to show them love and not beat them over the head with it. You're back to that Ford/Chevy thing....Don't worry about damning them to Hell....that will be their own personal choice that you and I don't have to carry.

What really crumbles my cookies is how much exposure the antis get for their baseless accusations and idiotic attitudes. They can scream that the sky is falling and the media start in-depth investigations into eco-friendly umbrella usage. We are ignored when we point out that there is a good acorn crop this year.

Sgaredneck has the right approach---just try and let it roll off and continue to take the high road.

Just keep a supply of 'signs' on hand so that when you see one of them on a rant, you can walk up and hand them one..... "Here's Your Sign"

From time to time even I could stand to have a dose of my own advice. I've been guilty of hanging PETA in effigy many times here on this site alone.

The being rational thing is the best advice I can give. Remembering back, I went out with a girl back in college only to discover (to my dismay) during the date that she was in PETA. She had bought into their ideology in the largest way possible. I found that no matter how loud or how quiet, or how sane or crazy the argument, there was no real logic to her statements. She could not be reasoned with. This also made her much less hot. I have a deer shoulder in the crock pot as we speak cooking in her honor.

Most PETA folks have are their talking points. Few if any have any real animal or nature knowledge. Few if any know what it is to hunt, or to fish, or to appreciate the Good Lord's Creation from that point of view.

They depend on personification of animals to tug at someones heartstrings. I do believe animals feel things. I don't think that makes them human. I do think animals have levels of intelligence. I do believe it's OK for a bobcat to eat a deer.
I think I am able to choose to respect that and I can act accordingly. If that is so, why would I subject myself to the bobcat? Would a PETA person do that? If they really believed their own arguments they would allow themselves to be eaten, wouldn't they? Or would they fight that poor defenseless animal?
Would they kill it if they had to make the choice between it or them?

See what I mean. Pam Anderson really isn't as hot as she seems.

When all the hoopla over the wolf kill came to light I visited a lot of PETA type websites too read their response. I like to think I'm a level headed guy and am smart enough to know if your going to beat your enemy you must first know your enemy. First and foremost I found an over abundance of lies on the PETA type sites but PETA and hunters do have something in common. We both love animals. What sets us apart is the fact that hunters understand nature and PETA only understands..well PETA. The best defense for hunters is the fact that DNR biologist back us up or there would be no hunting season. I look at the DNR for each state as a third party. We all know PETA will not listen to a hunter. To them we are cold blooded hill billy killers. Our best method of attack is through a third party rather it be a department of natural resourses, a conservation group that allows hunting and promotes the habitat and quality of game herd management ie: RMEF, NWTF and so on. We as hunters need to out the lies we see and find on these sights but not directly but indirectly through a third party as mentioned above.
Going head to head only results in a pissing match.

Agreed with buckhunter. There is no way PETA is going to even think our side is worth acknowledging. A third party must be contacted.

When PETA starts buying land to restore ecosystems, supports practices that ensure wild animals have healthy herds, helps restore range areas and does actual things for animals that play very important roles in the scheme of things, I might listen.

They would rather protest at mcdonalds or slam people for wearing furs. They pick fights that are public and they court high-profile people to be mouthpieces for their cause. I've never heard of PETA getting very far outside their comfort zone.
Protesting the way chickens are processed does not equal ensuring endangered species being protected. Giving children UNhappy meals is only a cheap public relations stunt. It's not about the animals all the time folks. I think there is a money side to this - I'd love F&S to research this and delve into the story for us. I'd like to know the real motivations of some of these people.

Thanks alot guys. I feel alot better. I'm only 15, and I've only been hunting for a year, but I still get mad that a group could be so ignorant. You all made great points. My Texas is a great whitetail and rabbit hunting state, and I'll keep doing what I love, even as the whiny child cries.

It is so great to have intelligent people on your side.

In the end nobody can do anything about it but just stay ourselves. It is a guarantee the anti's are never going to be satisfied so we shouldn't make it any of our concern (unless it effects us). Im just happy im on the right side. lol

Most people(not PETA people) are rational, and will listen to our logic in response to PETA lies. These are the people we must sway, by educating them and conducting ourselves in a positive way. PETA and HSUS are the vocal minority. Loudmouth uninformed liberal zealots. Wackos, if you will. I do agree with those that said we should use third party conservation minded pro-hunting groups to help our cause and inform the uninformed.
