What's It Worth?

If it smells like socialism.....

Uploaded on October 07, 2009

"The government who robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul," George Bernard Shaw once said. For a socialist, Shaw demonstrated good sense with that quotation. Unfortunately, America has become a laboratory in which his hypothesis is being tested. The theory of government I was taught says that government provides benefits, primarily security, to the entire population. In return we pay taxes. But lately the government has been a distributor of special privileges, taking money from some and giving it to others. America is now about evenly split between those who pay income taxes and those who consume them.

I taught my 2 year-old nephew about it this evening.

He had a cookie and his grandpa took half of it. The nephew whined that "Papa" was taking too much of it. I told the toddler that that was the "Papa Tax." Well, Papa, gave back half of what he took and then I told the kid "Thats your stimulus, thank your Papa."

Interestingly, when the Founders of this nation set it up, each State had the regulations in place that you had to own property... the value of a mule in order to vote. Imagine having to pass a drug test, have a job, or own a car in today's world in order to vote. ACORN wouldn't be under investigation for voter fraud because they wouldn't be out on the street getting bums to vote for OBAMA! Now, the whole system is upside down and my children will be born with shackles on their ankles because of this out of control spending and kickbacks for the special interest groups who are writing the legislation that the congressional leaders pass without even reading because they have sold their souls for power. They are really the ones on the leash and I am sick of it.

America was built on the principle of hard work. We need the federal government to be cut back to the point so that it can operate itself on 10% taxes from everyone making money. Let the states take care of everything else that the federal government has taken upon itself that isn't Constitutional (invoke the 10th Amendment) and then the people can choose which state they want to live in. New York would become a ghost town and Texas will continue to be booming.

ableskeever,

It's a hard decision to have more kids, just to think about the shackles your talking about. I wish we could get back to limited government. But I fear it has its fingers so deeply woven, there's no way to unravel it with out a real overturn in 2010. And if Obamacare passes I don't wanna think about what our children will have to face.

+1 Its nice to see some have understanding.

In the last few generations, the main threats to this nation were primarily foreign. There has always been some domestic, but now it looks like they're coming. No two wars are fought the same way. We need to fight against this domestic enemy with words and votes. They are shutting down the news organizations from any opposition. Obama's administration cut a deal with General Electric (who is enjoying a lot of government money these days) and GE is the parent company of NBC. Funny how NBC never uttered a word against the Obama machine. Now, all Democrats are ordered not to talk to Fox News. Isn't that ridiculous? The Democrats are working to control the media and those who are dissenters are branded as "not a real news source". Hitler rose to power on the wings of propaganda too. He was a masterful orator and swayed the masses with his passionate speeches to fix the problems. He blamed capitalism and how the Jews were profiteering off the nation. Funny how history tends to repeat itself.

Does anybody know if we'll be able to overturn all this ridiculous legislation with a sizable majority? Is there any way to dismantle it and regain our freedoms that we're beginning to lose? If it turns to bloodshed, then heaven help us. There won't be any dividing lines geographically, there would be anger and chaos in every town, every city, even in some homes. The Civil War was said to pitt brother against brother, but this one would be so much larger and worse that it would put our bloodiest war ever to shame.

Hopefully that will never happen again, but if it did, the enemy animals we face now will pounce on the opportunity presented and that should unite us once again. It has happened before. World War 2 was not uniformly embraced by all by a long shot, but after Pearl Harbor, things changed in a big way.
I think it's all academic anyways since our CONSTITUTIONAL form of government gives us plenty of chances to correct problems before it comes to anything close to that extreme.
Just take heart and become informed and active in whats going on. If you don't like what someone in government is doing, let them know and then VOTE! Most of them do listen if they hear it enough. If you think about it, thats exactly how things have come to the point they're at now. The liberals organized, acted and voted and we're now reaping the "rewards". Time for a 2010 payback!

We are reaping a painful harvest. Our current economic problems are the fruit of two decades of poisonous trade, banking, and labor policies. To blame Obama is myopic, missing the big picture. Place the blame on Reagan, Clinton, and both Bushes. If your preference would be to have a government so small that it could not respond effectively to overcome current and future problems/threats, internal or external, then our world would look more like a farm hit by flood, wind erosion, acid rain, over grazing, and never any signs of recovery between disasters. Actually, maybe that describes our current state of affairs. I am proud we have a president with the courage and intellect to take on our multiple problems. There will be no quick fix for the decades of mismanagement.

Ok, lets look at Big Governments' solutions to problems: Katrina? the so called Bush dilemma? that was the corp. of engineers..(gov). taxes?,( gov.), health care?, (gov.) Do you really want these people running every aspect of your lives? Name ANY solution to a problem other than providing a secure, stable environment for PRIVATE enterprise to function, that the government has provided that works. I don't think you can, and I don't think it's provided for in the constitution, either!
We don't need a bigger gov. for sure...we need a more responsive gov. that accountable to "we, the people"
