What's It Worth?
"You've heard about the controversies within the bill, the process about the bill, one or the other. But I don't know if you have heard that it is legislation for the future . ... We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of controversy." -- Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, March 9, 2010
Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi made the above quote talking about the necessity of passing the heath care bill that is currently in the house. You have to pass a major bill so that you can learn what's in it??
Here is a statement by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi that charifies her intention with this bill:
“Improving health insurance reform must be based on a fundamental principle of our democratic system: a simple majority. After passing health insurance reform in both chambers of Congress – with a super-majority in the Senate – it is now time for an up-or-down vote on the final improvements to the reform. We will only use a simple majority to improve the legislation, through a process used to enact key pieces of health and budget legislation by both Democrats and Republicans in the past.
“Americans support reform that makes health insurance more affordable, ensures access for tens of millions more people, and brings accountability to the insurance industry. Our families and businesses deserve reform that will create millions of jobs, strengthen Medicare, reduce our deficit, and no longer deny care or drop coverage to those who need it most. We must act now.”
ahh, that would be, 'clarifies' her intention with this bill...

I notice in the second paragraph of your quotation that she did not say "Americans support this plan." That would be patently false. So she said something obviously true about what Americans support, but which has no resemblance to her bill.
The obvious purpose of health care reform is exactly what the second paragraph details. The Republicans in Washington want to protect their own campaign corporate contributers at the cost of access to healthcare for millions of people. People die in this country for lack of adequate medical attention. It is time as a nation that we change this corrupt system. The current health care bill is a step in that direction, and I hope it passes ASAP.

Total bs! The medical attention received in this country is the envy of the entire world. I live near the Canadian border and near Maine's second largest hospital. At any time of the day, year round, go look at the license plates in the parking lot. It is now and has been for many years approximately 50% Canadian. They pay huge fees for health care and get excellent care if they have a cold. You can be on a waiting list for months to see a specialist if you have been diagnosed with a growth in your head. I imagine that anyone would sleep well. My brother gets to speak with the average Canadians virtually every day and and if something serious is happening they pay the bills and come to the States for attention and that is a fact not theory.
This "healthcare reform" is nothing more than the liberals trying to get more and more control over the economy and the American people. If you are a fan of this new healthcare plan than you are a fan of socialism, or at the very least socialized medicine. I personally don't see how you can separate the two. Pelosi will try anything she can to shove this socialism through, regardless of what the people say.
Im not the sharpest knife in the drawer but Ms. pelosi as well as our Pres. agenda is a train wreck headed toward socialism and maybe communism. I dont want anything from this life that I havent earned. Including health care. They are so out of touch with the real America it is quite scary to me. So protected and so far away from the regular guy its almost as if they have their own country!? How the hell do they know whats best for me!? Frankly I think half of them should be tried for treason. Our forefathers would probably have them shot! Ok I feel better now.Sorry for the rant but this is how I feel. God bless America!

Sorry about the"total bs". I tend to get excited.

Dakatah,
How many other countries have you personally used the health care system in? Most people that complain and want more have never seen anything else and are just riding a bandwagon or are terribly misinformed...a product of propoganda. I have firsthand knowledge of healthcare in Czeck, Germany, France, Denmark and Poland. I have accessed healthcare in Germany and Czeck. germany has public healthcare. They charged out the tailend, deductibles started rising to pay for the unemployed healthcare and the quality of care left alot to be desired. I can do on and on about how bad this system can be and how it WILL cost us all a great deal more than is being said. If anyone wants to spend money for people they do not know or are not working or will go to the hospital everytime they get the sniffles t get out of work or not spend the $10 at walgreens then by all means buy into the Pelosi propaganda. If not just spend the money on a new rifle and scope every year. Send me one because I am so smart and saved you money.
Sure there is room for improvement with what is already the best health care system in the world, but this boondoggle is not it. When the truck is running rough it needs a tune up not a full body off restoration. You could afford the tune up but not the restoration, especially when it isn't needed. However, this bill has nothing to do with health care and everything to do with control of we the people. I've witnessed the British and Canadian systems and believe me we do not want to take a page out of that book. With 55% of the people against this bill, why are our elected representatives even still trying to push it through?
The U.S. Constitution was four hand written pages and runs the best country on the planet just fine. This bill is 2,400 typed pages and even the bozos that wrote it can't tell us what is in it. Obama Bin Lyin has been trying to sell it to the American people for over a year and we still haven't found anything in it to like. What part of "Representative of the people" don't they understand? This episode of American government would qualify as a low point in Hugo Chavez's Venezuela.
