Backlash and Blowback
I for one don't care that Huntsman is out. He represents what is wrong with the Republican party west of the Rockies. Good riddance to his waste of time effort.
"The only people really depressed about Jon Huntsman’s exit from the race are people who wouldn’t in their wildest dreams have voted for him — or any Republican candidate, for that matter" ~ Alexandra Petri of The Washington Post
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/compost/post/what-next-for-the-hunts...
I don't know what you mean by "what is wrong with the GOP in the Rockies" The guy is incredibly well versed on economics, and can sell good economics. He has had some socially unexeptable positions within the party, and viewed as a liberal. In the first two state primaries the hoski's and the rats could cross over and vote for a GOP candidate...lousy but that is what is allowed. 51% of those that voted for Huntsman said they were very happy with Obama as President....tells you who 1/2 the folks were that voted for Huntsman. And for those that always wondered what someone meant by "I am socailly a liberal, but fiscally conservative"...means I am a socialist, that will protect my money, and spend it how I want to spend it, and vote for others to pay for my social agenda.
The lack of many responses to this post proves the point, LOL!
Sorry PigHunter, this is the first I've seen this thread.
I rather liked his position on breaking up big oil ala Ma Bell and Standard Oil of Teddy's time. Also thought he had usefull insights into the China issue...trade, patent theft, industrial espionage, etc.
Of course he never had a chance mainly because of his moderately centrist social ideas...that and he actually believes in science.
Good analysis by some of the very best analyzers on Fox just a bit ago. Huntsman ran a very bad campaign was the killer. Huntsman never was anthusiastic like he wanted to be President like Romney is. Third in New Hampshire was a killer...should have dropped out, and never gone on to SC.
He was the one who most worried the Obama folks back in early 2011. It was feared that his less radical views combined with a belief in science and international experience would make for a credible candidate.
Despite all that he is still far right wing and would have been a disaster.
The ideal candidate from a Dem perspective is Caine or Perry. Incredibly uninformed and prone to saying outrageous things. Newt would be pretty good as he has such high negatives already, but it looks like Romney is what has been chosen by the people who decide things for the GOP so y'all better learn to like that gun grabbin, abortion promoting, socialist health care enacting, double talking, elitist, Massachusetts liberal.
Anyone listen to the debates tonite minus Huntsman? Talk about the facts being jammed up liberal arse. And Juan Williams, the liberal panalist that asked Newt about his apparent statement that belittled Blacks when it came to work. I was totally embarrassed for Juan. The poor guy was taken out back behind the woodshed. If I would have been Juan, I would have referred to Newt, as.."the guy I do not address" like a liberal on these threads. You can sure get an idea where this campaign with Obama is headed. Obama has to come up with a strategy that avoids the issues, and talks about them fairly.
Not to worry, Rat. I'm not voting for Mitt either! LOL
Sure glad Huntsman dropped out and gave Newt more air time last nite. Anyone watch the debates? When the liberal panalist, Juan Williams, asked Newt a question about his degrading Blacks motivation to work, I yelled at my wife to listen to Newt's response to the liberal's false accusation of Newt. And Newt did not disappoint. Juan could have crawled under the table. Like Sayfu responding to the Rat, or hoski...neither one wants to respond back. Juan should have called Newt.."the guy I don't address" Talk about getting your lunch handed to you. That was classic.
I supported Huntsman and thought he was the right guy; however, he decided to drop out and back Romney. I don't know for sure this is just my thought, but he probably thought he couldn't come ahead and decided to drop out and back Romney so he can become vice president if Romney is elected. I thought he could have won nomination he was #3 in the poles. I now back Perry because Ron Paul doesn't know crap, Newt and Santorum are sleazes and Romney is a looser who just likes to tell you what you want to hear. I don't see a leader in Romney. Rick Perry said that he would not quit and even though he's in last at 7% according to the news he is still full swing into his campaign. He seems more honest and a lot less bull shitty than the other nominees. I sure hope he wins the S.C. primary and he is probably the only capable of handling our foreign policy and affairs.
Robertjlb33,
Perry handle our foreign affairs?
I hope you were kidding.
He's flatly stated he'd put our troops back in Iraq to be targets for both sides of their coming civil war. And just the other day he labeled one of our allies (Turkey) as Islamic terrorists.
The guy don't know diddly about foreign policy.
Not to mention his administration in Texas has continually run $10 billion in the red, has the highest percentage of uninsured workers, and the highest percentage of minimun pay jobs in the nation.
I don't think we should have pulled out of Iraq, but it would be too late now anyways to go back in, I don't think that could happen; and where did it come from him saying that about Turkey, not trying to be ignorant, ?
When Obama has 46,000,000 folks on food stamps why wouldn't every state be running deficits? Incredible any state can balance the books. Huge increase in poverty, the rich vs. poor gap greatly increased during Obama when he spent $1,000,000,000,000 tax payer dollars saying it would benfit those that need it the most. And the fact we pulled out of Iran was a monumental screw up by the Obama Administration. Let's hope your point on that one will be debated in the campaign ahead. Perry gets rave revues on his states rights vs. the Obama Administration taking their rights away from them...like you can't have Boeing move a plant to SC just because it is a right to work state.
The thing that really makes me mad about Obama is that he tries to take credit for killing Osama Bin Laden when he has been trying to pull out of the middle east ever since day 1 and the only people who should have and get credit are the service men and women who put their lives at risk for their country every day and those who have already died for the war on terrorism.
Huntsman had no chance anyway.
Robertjlb33 I have to admit I too think Perry would make a great nominee for the Republican Party.
Robertjlb33,
Here's Perry concerning Turkey.

Here's his comments on Iraq during the ABC Republican debate

Let's clear something up about osama bin laden and being in the middle east.
In the first place, the only reason our troops were there was to track down Bin Laden and his al queda followers. A cursory search of history will show we had a very small contingent of forces in Afghanistan and along with Afghan allies we had Bin Laden totally surrounded and were annihilating them piecemeal when Bush decided to call the dogs off and invade Iraq...thereby allowing Bin Laden to waltz into Pakistan.
As for the killing of that POS, most of the muckety mucks at the Pentagon wanted to take out Bin Laden's compound via missle strike. Most likely it would have succeeded, but then we'd never know if Bin Laden was indeed dead.
BTW, do a little search as to the rest of the world's opinion of our President's action concerning the killing of Bin Laden...you'll find nothing but accolades.
And please give accolades to Bush. He gathered the info that was essential to finding Bin Laden...info that Obama was against acquiring.
Bush couldn't find his behind using two hands.
RAT,
Yeh, guess yer right. Taking over a recession from Clinton, then being terrorist attacked on 9-11 that would have crumbled, and already crumbling economy given to him, he jams tax cuts up liberal arse, and immediately creates the longest and strongest economic booooooom in American history. 54 straight months of robust, economic growth...4.5% annual growth, and unemployment drops to 4.5%...and yet the left, and your imbecile guy, BO, couldn't even get hindsight right...they went the other way...raised taxes, and spent massive amounts of tax payer money driving us to near bankruptcy. What grade was it you made it through?
I would ask simply...if Bush had amassed the location info on Bin Laden, why didn't he act?
Clinton recession?????
Can anyone remember a balanced budget and handing a surplus over to BUSH???
That was squandered post haste???
What a maroon.
Clinton handed Bush the recession that started under Clinton. What is it about facts you don't understand?..that's a fact. And virtually all qualified folks regarding Obama's capture say that the valuable info that led to Bin laden's assasination was gathered under Bush by interrogation techniques that Obama was against, and the hoski's as well. It was an accumulation of info that tracked Bin Laden to his home in Pakistan. And they learned of Bin Laden's where abouts almost a full year before Obama decided to give the go to killing him. Obama didn't have him killed right away...he weighed all the political implications of doing so.
The article about Rick Perry calling Turkey's leaders Islamic terrorists admits the prime minister of Turkey is an "enabler" of Islamic terrorist. If he is allowing the actions of terrorist he mine as well be one himself. Regardless I guess it doesn't really matter now anyways, Perry decided to drop out and is now supporting Gingrich? I definitely don't agree with him there.
I have question if any of you guys know, I heard from a friend of mine that Ron Paul wants to legalize marijuana so that the gov. can tax it. I have no clue if this is true or not but if it is that's pretty scary. We have enough drunk driving and all we need is a bunch of pot heads driving on the roads dazed out of their minds, not to mention all the other bad things that would come of it.
Totally a far leftist view Ron Paul has, and yes, he does want to legalize other hard drugs as well. He's for easy access believing you can not legislate morality, and, there would be far less drug related violent crimes. Crazy view, and another reason why he will not be picked as the nominee besides his views on national defense.
Thanks Sayfu, if you legalize it people will think it's okay to do, totally throws out the can't legalize morality idea
It's one of those deals where...if enough people do it let's go ahead and condone it, legalize it. The truth is there are a lot of violent crimes committed because of drugs, and most hard drug users started with marajuana use. Totally unexceptable from a conservatives view point. Fine with most valueless liberals.
