Obama's Speech for the Schoolkids
Uploaded on September 08, 2009Obama's speech that was broadcast to all the schools has drawn alot of attention and it seems like a large number of conservatives are complaining that the speech is politically motivated - I can agree with that.
But then most of the people who are complaining about the speech go on to argue that the problem with the speech is that he is trying to brainwash the kids into becoming ultralibrals or something - on that point I'm not so sure I agree.
I haven't found a full text of the speech yet but it sounds like he mainly exhorted the kids to work hard at school - nothing wrong with that.
Where I see the main political aspect of this speech is that it is the school teachers of the nation who are also in those classrooms listening to the speech with the kids. And I believe this speech also talked about trying to do all he can to help out the schools or something like that - music to the ears of the Teachers Union.
And guess what, tomorrow he plans on giving a major speech on healthcare and will probably be asking his supportors (the Teachers Union being one of the strongest) to help him out in his efforts.
So what I see as the most political aspect of this speech to the school kids is the Teachers Union and Healthcare debate angle.
Does anyone else see it this way?

I have not seen the speach, but my wife read it. Neither of us are Obama supporters. She said she saw nothing that was political about it, said it was very well written and was actually a very good message for the kids. He is the president of the United States like it or not. Personally I don't like him as president, but Reagan and Bush senior both did the same thing I be leave and their speaches although good speaches were more political then Obama's was.
I look at it this way - if the president can get kids to stay in school and improve themselves more power to HIM! At least he gave up some time to talk directly to our children!!!!!! on our buck!
With the exception of a few great people - Out of this list think of anything that your child could look up to theses guys for!

most elected people to represent us!
TV entertainers
radio entertainers
the music industry

this is one crazy world we live in! NO BODIES PERFECT! i would rather have the president talk to my kid about staying school and working hard - than mr. vick talking to them about dog care - or wall street and the banks telling them HEY do a Sh___ job! and you can still get big money from the tax payers - or have them watch msnbc & fox going back and forth at each other. NEVER knowing what the hell is really going on! lets face it it is still great to be in the USA!
