Hunting
I just got done commenting on a story that was posted about a taxidermist who mounted poached animals and I have to say that it made me sick!
That was the first time I had heard the story and what was actually done. Im glad to see that the taxidermist got what he deserved!
Poaching is a terrible act that is destroying the very things that we love the most. Eevery time I see where some poor animal has been MURDERED, I cant help but think about the massive effects of that one kill.
Not only did he, the poacher, slay a beautiful animal but he also killed the heritage of that animal. The traits that made that animal so big or so perfect will never get the chance to have any young and so that too was killed.
Also I think that some young sportsman might have had the chance to take that wonderful animal the right way and enjoy the splender of a trophy. Or a man could have been scouting and watching this animal grow to the right "trophy" size and now some idiot has stolen that chance from them!
The whole thing makes me sick to stomach! Its because of people like those that make each and every year of being a sportsman a little more and more difficult. The penalty for poaching is far from being what it should be considering all that is effected from this.
"To all you poachers world wide. CHEATERS ARE THE ONLY REAL LOSERS IN LIFE...."

Exactly, when I was about 14 I was hunting with my dad (who was in a wheelchair) on private property (we had permission)when three trucks drove up on the road that boardered the property. As the trucks were moving three guys stared shooting, killing three huge bucks right under my dads nose. We worked very hard to find property for my dad to hunt on, it's so frustrating to work so hard only to have it taken away by selfish people. We came to find out later that one of the guys was a police officer (he disrespected the title he held) from a nearby town. We tried to report them, but nothing ever came of it. Has stuck with me all these years.
If i ever see a a guy do somethin like that i would report it. I think that the police officer should have his job taken away and he should go to jail and they all should have to pay a fine.
Wht would any one want to poach go down to your local sporting good store and get a license for $12. IDIOTS!!
When I was in Arizona at an Army post a guy was telling me a story about a Sargeant Major who decided one night to poach a deer on post. He figured, just use a bow, its quiet and no one will find out. So he lets one loose into the deer, who starts screaming and waking up all the neighbors. Of course, someone calls the Military Police, and he is charged. Poaching, illegally hunting, hunting on FEDERAL property, violating regulations, ARMY and STATE and FEDERAL.
My guess is he got out of the military a long time ago.
Poaching is wrong and SICK!!! go get a license or go to jail
that's the problem. they don't go to jail. they get coddled by the courts.
I'm not into snitchin' but back in Tonganoxie,KS I was in an unnamed gun shop that sits directly across the street from the police station.Anyway the unknown named owner of the store ( who happens to be a Tonganoxie,KS police officer) blatently told me stories of him shooting animals from the truck and his cousin poppin' off turkeys with laser sights from rediculous distances with rediculous guns. And he told me all of this the first time I was ever in the store. Not to bright to brag about that kind of thing but then me telling y'all this probably ain't to bright niether.Hope they don't come kill me!LOL!
I feel your pain, when I was in high school my best friend and I were hunting on his land when a truck drove up and tried to kick us off his own land because the guy in the truck was the one poaching off of it. when the guy figured out who we where he tried to be all nice and make a deal with my friend. I can't beleave that my friend did not shoot him on the spot.
yep
Crawlife, I hope your still alive and doing well too!
jamesti, your right they go to court and to often they get coddled cause the judge ain't a hunter and doesn't know the value and money sportsmen put into game preservastion
Hi guys,
I am doing a school project. And I know poaching is wrong, I am a very strong believer in hunting. If you want to kill something, wait until you have the tags, licesnces and the right season. I hate poachers. They always get away some how. But anyway i picked the topic poaching and my teacher said i had to get yes and no agreements. I believe poaching is wrong. So she said to get yes and no argumnets on SHOULD WE STOP POACHING? I know the answer is yes, but she wants no arguments also? Whatever floats her boat. If you guys could answer this i would really appreciate it.
Go ahead and shoot anyone who gives you the "yes, poaching is OK" opinion.
Poaching is terrible, and I hate it. Where I hunt, there is a poacher (famous in my area) and our land is separated from his by a creek. We also have land across the street from him. The funny thing is that my dad has killed his biggest deer basically in the guy's back yard and I killed my biggest across the road from him. Just thought I would share and am in no way advocating his actions. I just think it's very ironic.
they are all just scum of the earth , that want what they cant get ethically or legally . may the fleas of a thousand dogs infest their crotch !
My grandad, rest his soul, told me of his old stories. I wish I could remember them all better. They weren't rich folks.
His family wasn't much on getting licenses, or any of that "gov'ment" stuff. When they needed food, they went out and hunted. That is NOT poaching. That was the world when the cost of ammo was directly compared to the cost of food.
Only sport hunters can poach. I'm all for license fees that directly support hunting lands, parks, forests, wetlands, and so forth. And now, there are probably none of us here on the internet that MUST hunt to feed our family or they have no meat this month. And the stories listed above are true a*ses about it.
But a friend of mine in Albany Ga came from a home that didn't even have electricity until the '60s. They didn't bother with permits, either.
But for us, yes. Do everything legally while we can afford to. I take the people and situations into account. People hunted without taxes for many thousands of years to feed their family.
Great thread
You are right; there is a difference in subsistence hunting and poaching. Subsistence hunters don't saw off the antlers and leave a carcass and or leave the whole thing to rot.
