Texas Steps Up

Uploaded on June 15, 2011

The Texas Senate has passed a bill that allows LEO's to "inquire" and "check" citizenship status of those stopped for other reasons.
It's about time somebody besides Arizona and Gov. Jan Brewer showed some backbone.

Finally! Momentum is building against the federal machine. Alabama is moving forward with punishing businesses employing illegal aliens as well.

We're on it Clay. And, we went a step further. But of course the liberals are all out against it.

Attorney Predicts Feds Won't Challenge Alabama Immigration Law
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/06/13/attorney-predicts-doj-wont-ch...

"Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley last week signed what many consider to be the toughest law in the country dealing with illegal immigration. It follows in the footsteps of similar laws in Arizona and elsewhere.

"The Alabama law, which takes effect Sept. 1, empowers police to arrest people suspected of being an illegal immigrant if they are stopped for another reason and requires businesses and schools to verify whether workers and students are in the country lawfully. It also makes it a crime to knowingly transport or shelter illegal immigrants.

Clay

The law doesn't allow stopping vehicles simply to check for citizenship and immigration documentation.
What it does is allow LEO's that have stopped vehicles or pedestrians for other infractions for documentation.
While I truly think stopping to check for documentation SHOULD be allowed, I do understand that LEO's, being human, you would have some that would take advantage of the situation. It's human nature.
As it is, this is at least a step in the right direction.

I am QUITE certain that others here feel otherwise.

Good grief, Charly Brown!

what I posted:
"What it does is allow LEO's that have stopped vehicles or pedestrians for other infractions for documentation."

what I meant:
"What it does is allow LEO's that have stopped vehicles or pedestrians for other infractions to ASK for documentation or proof."

The federal machine is for taking power away from congress, taking power away from States Rights. Division of power is everything in our system of govt. Obama is desperately trying to change that.

I'm going to be sure that I provide my proof of citizenship if I'm stopped for something. Just so that nobody can be accused of racism.

Doesn't say they have to arrest them does it? Or submit them to immigration officials?

Texas loves illegals, keeps wages low and they are easy workers to push around. If Texas got rid of their illegals wages would increase. Lot of companies wouldn't like that.

Florida, Georgia, all those red states love illegals, might have to pay a living wage without them.

In case you haven't noticed, Rat, our border is a warzone.

Just the other week I was down there where some cartel members decided to throw some grenades into a manufacturing plant... just to create chaos so that the governement to pull out.

There is a reason why we implement laws... for the protection of the citizens from anarchy.

Oh, no, rat. That would be absolutely insane, amigo.
If the people they check prove to be illegal, they just write their name down, issue D.R.E.A.M. Act applications and allow them to proceed without any citations because they ARE illegal. Arrest them!? Heaven forbid! Wouldn't that be insane? I mean, geez, cops should NOT be allowed to actually enforce laws should they?
Why would any sane LEO actually turn illegal aliens over to that jackbooted, Nazi bunch of Border Patrol thugs. The BP would probably beat them, starve them and then want to make them go back to their country of orgin. Oh, horror! Such a mean bunch!
You can relax.
They don't want to arrest or deport anybody.

Just saying Republicans have a pretty bad record on immigration. Reagan's amnesty allowed in how many? And Texas is doing exactly what to crack down on the actual illegals that are working throughout the state?

Tea baggers might be racist but Main Street Republicans want compliant workers for their factories and farms.

Yep, Reagan had the best of intentions but alas it didn’t matter the plan was not a success. But then again I don’t remember any good legislation on the subject coming from the left either. If I remember correctly, Kennedy’s SOLVE act was also a dismal failure.

Honestly I can’t tell where Obama stands on Immigration reform. At the start of his presidency he cracked down on them at the behest of the labor unions. Now that he’s back in campaign mode he’s trying to sound like he’s for amnesty.

Reagan's plan was a stunning success. Combined with the export of jobs wages have actually declined for working people.

You're right about the left.

The Obama push for "immigration reform" (means many things to many people) begun a couple of months ago had a couple of different objectives according to Hispanic leaders I heard interviewed about the subject.

One remote possibility was that something would get done. Remote, but a possiblity. You introduce legislation, sometimes for whatever reason something passes.

Two. He is on record making the effort for the Hispanic community.

Three. The Republicans are on record thwarting the reform.

Cold hearted electoral politics.

Where Obama stands, who knows, maybe his wife but he probably doesn't even tell her.

Many more arrests and deportations than under Bush. Here if you get stopped for a traffic violation they look at your immigration status. Illegal, they don't let you go.

The cost of crossing has risen from $1500 to $3000, and the chances of getting caught are much greater. The border has been mostly taken over by drug gangs too. It's a mess.
