Shotguns
This week I saw that the IRS Criminal Investigation Division is in the market for 60 Remington Model 870 12 Gauge Shotguns. The official site (https://www.fbo.gov/index?s=opportunity&mode=form&id=8d3b076bd4de14bbda5...) says they want 14" barrels which is of course illegal for regular citizens. Federal Law requires an 18" barrel minimum. A blog commented that the 14" barrel in the description was a mistake and that they really are ordering 18" barrels... Imagine that, the IRS making a mistake... And what do they want guns for anyway, "Pay up or we'll shoot!"?!?!
Found a 2007 Field & Stream buried in the magazine rack. In a sidebar section titled "By The Numbers" the topic was "Global Warming". The "numbers" were all stunning and quoted from the various now humiliated hoaxters of the global warming fraud. Doesn't anybody feel like they should go back and say, "Hey, that was a total goof to jump on that bandwagon. Next time we'll triple check the sources that say, 'the science is in'; and we won't come into sweeping agreement when there is so much obvious disagreement among those who are supposed to know."
Finally, where the heck is Al Gore anyway?
The science is still in and climate change is a reality we must deal with. To ignore it is to not see the elephant in the room.
Elephants in the room are "natural" so that's OK. When John Muir saw melting glaciers in SE Ak that was "natural". When they melt today that's man made, so unnatural. Past climate change and co2 levels were natural as they rose and fell but today its a catastrophe caused by Algore's carbon footprint. When a "scientist" disappears past weather data, as Mann has, that's "natural" too. Distorting data to prove a point is "natural", if not honest or scientifically valid. Climate science still has a long way to go before it is enough to be making literally earth changing decisions on.
Dakotah Dan,
So how do we control the temperature of the sun? Do you think the Carbon Tax will be the answer?
I'm with Dakotah Dan on this one - yeah, I know 90 percent of the posters on this site think global warming is a hoax, but the recent scandal involving some of the data and Al Gore's hyperbole doesn't negate the rest of the science demonstrating a link between the rise in greenhouse gas emissions and global temperatures.
While I'm at it, I might as well burn another bridge and say that I think evolution is real too.
I agree and disagree with Dakota Dan. Yes, we should pay attention to temprature change but if there really is global warming, why did all 50 states get snow afew weeks ago?
I'm with Labrador12 -- naturally!
5 posts, all about the global warming issue! And doesn't anyone want to weigh in on the rev-uh-noo-ers buying shotguns? This really is how the media does its "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" routine -- we miss significant news while we are caught up in the tug of war over a "media created crisis"...
Carney-
Naturally the lame-stream media cannot report on the rev-uh-noo-ers buying shotguns. There is nothing negative to report. The rev-uh-noo-ers probably need guns to deal with all those radical, right wing military veterans.
al gore is proble on his exspensive boat thing hidding from the public eye
Does a hot summer day and/or a national heat wave prove global warming if a lot of snow disproves it? If it isn't real now then it definitely will be in a few months and over the next few years. Extremes in weather are inevitable, and also have little bearing on global climate change. Will this be the summer of Al Gore?
I agree that much of the global warming info was trumped up and a lot of it is no good. On the other hand, I just can't get past the worldwide glacier melting rates. Yes, glaciers melt every year, but so many have receded very rapidly in the past few decades. Also, what's the deal with the grizzlies heading north more than ever? This is something that was predicted by the scientists before Al Gore ever got his name involved. Yes, this was around way before Al Gore.
Say climate change/global warming is 100% disproven (not proven to be real does not imply that it is proven to be false, by the way). Should we just say "screw it" and deforest twice as much, burn even more fuel, develop more, and just pollute away because we know that we won't cause global warming? Whether you agree with any of this or not, I think it should be pretty obvious that the better we take care of things, the more it will benefit us, not to mention the rest of the residents of this rock.
One of the best things to do to reduce atmospheric carbon is to cut down lots of trees, mill the logs and build something "permanent" out of the lumber; then plant more trees in their place.
Just check it out.
Is that all we have to say about rev-uh-noo-ers and shotguns?
Shane
Noone said we should say screw it and pollute away. Our point is that the earth has warmed and cooled always and always will. We don't want the government in it and taxing us for our daily lives. By all means we should clean up after ourselves. But it should not be mandated by a bunch of liberals who pollute more in a month than most of us in a lifetime.
I posted on the glacier melting issue a few months back, I posted the stats and sources and brother they are not melting away to nothing like the left would have you believe. I will see if I can find the source again.
SO nobody cares that the taxman is buying shotguns...
You said it Carney, it is the Criminal Investigation Division of the IRS, or the IRS police. The CID arrests and, I suppose, the IRS prosecutes. Nobody likes to have the IRS coms knocking at their door, and some people get dangerous when they have uninvited guests. Remember, Al Capone went to jail for income tax evasion.
The left? No. I'm talking about the photographs as well as a few spots I've seen first hand. Did the "left" come to those places and fool me or is it real? Hmm...
At least the IRS bought American 870's. Soon we won't be able to make firearms in the US. Too big a carbon footprint, naturally.
Earth First! We'll tree the other planets later!
Global warming is real, but not like Al Gore is ranting about. Global warming and cooling are natural part of earths cycle that has been occurring since our earth was created billions of years ago, so no one needs to get their panties in a bunch, your not going to going to change the weather and future climate no matter how hard you try, ONLY MOTHER NATURE decides that. That doesn't mean we shouldn't worry about the current environmental conditions though. I think everyone would feel better and benefit from living in cleaner communities.
Carney,
To add further to what Dakotah Dan was saying:
Someone asked that in Answers maybe a month or so back. I posted an answer relating to the IRS' shotgun acquisition for their CID. When I asked around I got this too:
The EPA supposedly has their own CID outfit and part of their equipment is H&K MP5's(!!!). The answer I got for their having to have those - they act on warrants to places that may be active crime scenes AND areas that may have extreme chemical contamination - beyond usual NBC hazmat training that a local SWAT team may go through. And I guess to be able to control how the crime scene & contamination of contamination is handled.....
Redneck: That sure clears matters up doesn't it?!?!
JHawes: Just who is Mother Nature anyway? How might one lodge a complaint?
sen456, what is your point putting that stupid ad on every site you sign in too? Once is enough already!
I suggest EVERYONE report the ad by sen456 it is on EVERY one of the sites in Message Boards.
I hope that the site can soon do something with sen456. You can't get a real read on what posts are recent on the comments section. Surely something can be done.
Global warming, its become an extreamly political subject. The fact is average global temperatures have risen in recent years. Did we have anything to do with it? Well, we have been taking carbon that has been locked in oil for millions of years and releasing it into the atmosphere at an increasing rate for the past 50 years. Global carbon dioxide readings have risen.
The problem is still finding a causal relationship between all the data. As well as some data being corrupted and other data sampleing procedures being seriously flawed. On the one hand I applaud everyone for remaining skeptical but on the other hand bow many of you were on the band wagon then bailed at the first sign of trouble.
Science is not perfect. I think the result of the whole fiasco far outweighs all of our complaints. We now strive to live more in harmony with out environment (as a society). As outdoorsmen, we have seen how people can litter and mess up our favorite fishing holes. We are working harder than ever to find CHEAP, renewable energy sources as well as conserve the energy that we have. We, as sportsmen, know better than most what comes from conservation.
Wether global warming is real or not, does it really hurt us to try to be better stewards of our planet?
