warming-gate

Uploaded on November 24, 2009

Well it seems a bunch of Algore's buddy's have been caught fudging climate data. They have also been caught pressuring journals to not publish studies that contradict the "consensus". They even admit that warming has been non-existent for a decade, despite record levels of greenhouse gases being introduced into the atmosphere. These "scientists" have been taking billions of taxpayer dollars from all over the world and have committed fraud. Carthage Giant anyone?

I read this in the paper, and was outraged to hear of it. In a nutshell, a presidential 'also-ran' won a nobel peace prize for proclaiming the end-of-the-world through fudged stats. His prize should be revoked, and the scientists fired. Just my opinion.

Is it because it's a democratic thing? More pork for the budget?

Hey, just follow the money trail.
Gore gets the $1 million prize from Oslo, Norway where the Nobel Peace Prize is issued

The US government gives Al Gore $500 million to start a Green Car Company in Norway. I guess Obama thinks that creating jobs in Europe count towards his jobs created/saved number.

Its not about global warming... its about power. With something like Cap and Trade, the government has the power to regulate you to death. They'll make the whole nation dependant on them and then they'll use taxpayer money to purchase votes... much like the recent "Louisiana Purchase" where an extra $300 million was tacked onto the Senate bill just for Louisiana so that they can get an extra vote. Welcome to Chicago-syle politics.

When I look at a news source,I'm looking for the news not opinions.Just the facts I'll form my own opinion. The sources you sent me to cherry pick stories from [as you say] the liberal media or cliam "we have the right bias".I know it is alot easier to sit back ,listen and enjoy.Listen to that one news source. They did all the thinking for you, there is no need to question any facts[if they're offered].
As far as the computer and E-mail hacking,it's a crime. All the rest of the story is speculation and innuendo. The global warning issue is a fact settled by science. To what degree,is the debate. That's only debated by some who have made a career of it.
If as much effort was put forward to overcome the issue as there was to quash it.There would be a whole lot more manufacturing around here, but the debate goes on and the only loophole we can come up with carbon emmisions credit system thats just going to ensure jobs elsewhere.
Now I have to go I'm late for my refrigeration class.

People who read F&S should read Algore's "Earth in the Balance." In that book he explains why pheasants that live in old growth forests are being killed on the highway. Last week he was on a TV show explaining how the Earths core has a temp of "millions " of degrees. The Sun's surface temp is approx 6 million degrees. Algore is a non-scientist who believes in many things that are factually horrendously incorrect. He played a large role in staffing scientific positions around the world during the 1990's. These are his handpicked minions who got caught red-handed last week. They have set out to prove that previous warm periods in the Earth's history never happened.

There is no doubt that co2 levels are rising. The link between co2 and temp is in doubt. We need cost effective ways to lower emissions. Fear-mongering and data fudging are not the way to reach our goals. We live in a time of an unprecedented environmental recovery. Draconian governmental decrees are not the solution to our, not as serious as many have been led to believe, problem.

from ableskeever wrote 4 years 20 weeks ago

Al Gore likes to zoom out on the CO2 and Temp chart so much that you can't see whats really happening. If you zoom in, you can see that the CO2 rise LAGS the temperature rise by approx. 400 years.

Anyone who thinks man has made no impact on the climate has their head up there @$$.The proof is in their pursuit of an education. For those of you that wish to walk up right ,please read further.
The problem we started, takes place in the stratospere[7-30 miles above the earth]where the ozone layer protect the earth by blocking harmful ultraviolet [UV-B]radiation.Ozone is produced and destroyed by the sun's radiation. The sun's radiation will break down ozone[three oxygen atoms O3]making one standard oxygen molecule [O2] and one free oxygen atom.At the same time ,more ozone is produced through photosynthesis and the bonding of standard oxygen with free oxygen. This balance has been going on for millions of years. However, man-made chlorine-containing chemicals have knocked this delicate process out of balance in the last few decades. These chemicals like those developed in the 1930's for use as a refrigerants make it into the earth's atmospheric layer. The most damaging of these are chlorofluorocarbons[CFCs] ,once in the stratosphere ,ultraviolet radiation will break off a chlorine atom from the CFC [there are other molecules that will react the same way].The chlorine atom destroys many ozone molecules. One chlorine atom can destroy up to 100,000 ozone molecules. These man-made chlorine atoms are oil based in orgin and will not bond with water and will not wash out like the natural chlorine released by a volcano. They will remain in the stratosphere until they breakdown in 100-120 years. The stratosphere contains 90% of the earth's ozone.Research into this goes back to 1974 ,the results of all that research lead to the Monteal Protocol in 1987.The United States Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 regulate the use and disposal of CFCs and HCFC,since then the goal is a total phaseout of there use.HCFC are not due to be totally phased out until 2030.
That was just the start ,now we have increased UV-B entering the tropophere [ that is the lower atmosphere that extends upward from ground level to about 7 miles]and reaching the surface. The troposphere contains 90% of the atmosphere and is well mixed by weather patterns.Sunlight acting on chemicals in the troposphere causes bad ozone ,the popular term is smog. Now this increased ozone in the lower atmosphere combined with chemicals [carbon dioxide being one the major components]has a same affect on the suns radiation but in reverse,it blocks it from leaving. That is where the arguments start. The problem is not that it's over your head[30 miles up],it is that nobody likes change or likes to be told too change .Now the ones that would stand in the way of that change are that can produce a greater profit under old or outdated standards.Remember our problem now, started with products produced in the 1930's and won't be totally phasedout until 2030. Where the enviroment will be then is in question.I am more concerned with what kind of change my greatgrand childeren will have to endure.Beaware that the EPA fine for the intentional release of a refrigerant is $27,500.So stop shooting those old refrigerators and A/C units. The guy with the camera could collect a bounty of up to $10,000,not bad for one minute of work. You don't have to be a corporation to be fined.
For the record I never met Al Gore or watched his movie, but I think he can keep his prize for his effort to educate the dumbmasses.

c02 is plant food, 20 years ago we were going into the ice age again and their was solid scientific proof of that. Now we are heating up and if we don't do something with in the next couple of years (if you are to believe all the hype) the earth and all human life will cease to exist as we now know it. The only reason the democrats and the far left are using the global warming crap is because it helps further their cause of creating a socialist nation and destroying America and freedom, the kind of freedom our founding fathers fought and died for. The left loves a good scare tactic to frighten people into voting for more government so they will be protected from what ever the catastrophe happens to be at the time. The world heats and cools over a 30 to 60 year cycle ( this is proven by the way) therefore slight changes in the weather will be noticed. For instance some years we will have more hurricanes than others etc. Since the world is heating up I wonder why we have been having some of the coldest temps recorded in quite some time? I'm sure it's because of global warming because it just has to be!

I do hope that once you complete your reading competency requirement you will attend college.I'm sure you think watching the grass grow is your idea of management ,but it's good to see somebody looking out for you and giving you a place to live and having mom still cooking for you[make no mistake your not on welfare, your just trying to get on your feet].Your real quick to push all your discussions to the left, thats just testament to the fact you own no knowledge. The real question is if you will ever be man enough to own real knowledge. That would require you to swallow your pride and understand your shortcomings. The discussion is in the conservative middle ground. The discussion should be about what research needs to be done, what technology needs to be developed, what new industries can come from it.The results of those actions will result in change, being that you don't plan on doing nothing more than watch grass grow, I can see why that would scare you.If you are capable of being educated you could benefit from the advancement of technology or make a living advancing it.In college[if you attend] there are classes with names like CHEMISTRY,BIOLOGY,ENVIROMENTAL SCIENCE and SOCIOLOGY.Most colleges require you to take one or more of them, but don't be afraid there not there to brainwash you to the left [maybe a little, your so far right you can afford to move a little],they're there to educate you. There you will learn[one would hope] science is both interpretative and/or proven. Those cycles you claim are "proven" are a interpretation of the enviromental record. Two sources of that record are trees and ice,we are loosing both .The trees we are loosing to poor stewartship ,disease and drought [natural cycle?].Ice from the glaciers and ice caps both are melting back at unpresidented levels and raising the sea level.I'm sure you don't have any concerns about that living off the land like you do. But other hunters who use the coastal areas may have a concern or two.By the way those coastal areas that are dying back from the effluence of salt water are proven to be a buffer from those hurricanes. CO2 maybe plant food as you put it but do you want to stand in a room full of it?You wouldn't want to be in a room full of ozone [O3] either.I know it was pointless write this [your not reading it or anything else for that matter] ,your just going to watch the grass grow and blame the change in wind direction on politics.
your still a ignorant Equus asinus[that's proven by the way]

Funny how the education is being touted while those scientists obviously missed their ETHICS class. Trust me, education does not necessarily make you more of a person. Obama (a college professor who is screwing up the country) has filled positions with people who have 0 real world experience and our children are going to be born with a shackle of debt on their ankles.

Never think down on somebody because they have less education than you. I've worked with engineers who only have batchelors degrees explain to PHDs what they were doing wrong. Arrogance will get you nowhere in the real world.

Data that is proven to be bad has to be thrown out. When these scientists have fudged the data to further their agenda, then their information has to be thrown out. Where would technology be today if everything was based off of bad data?

Are you saying that there is no possibility that someone would want to destroy this nation from within? We have to remain watchful on all fronts if this nation is to succeed. As a farmer, a published biologist, a hunter, and a fisherman, it is difficult for me to understand how so many urban people can have such strong opinions about the environment. People who fly everywhere, and spend less than 60+ hours a week outside, are forced to rely on Algore and the NY Times for understanding of the environment. Is it any wonder that they have a less than perfect understanding of the current state of mother nature? People who write checks to the Environmental Defence Fund are much better environmentalists than others who actually observe by spending time in the bush. Ask them, they will tell you. I'm embarrassed to admit that I was at the first Earth Day back in the '60's and back then the big scare was Global COOLING and the coming ice age. If you look back at headlines for as long as man has been writing them you would find that on a 40-50 year cycle the scare fluctuates between "Global Warming, Mankind Doomed" and "Global Cooling, Mankind Doomed" For some strange reason these temperature cycles seem to coincide with sun spot cycles and have been going on long before SUV's were invented. Also odd is that when the Earth is hotter so are the other planets of the solar system. I'm still trying to figure out how the exhaust from my truck affects the temperature on Mars.

How about we conserve and tread lightly out of love and respect for creation and be good stewards for love of nature not because we have the audacity to think that we can dictate control of the universe to the Almighty.

First of all, No I did not. Mcloud didn't get the answer he wanted and it didn't matter what source was quoted or whether it was fact or not he still said it was wrong. He is a egotistical gas bag that thinks he knows better than anyone else. I suggest you go educate yourself to what is really happening with this global warming crap. In Al Gore's global warming movie there were 9 out right lies that are known to be false. You can get this info from the British scientists that looked over the movie. The simple truth is sir that you have been had by the liberal media and the left wing radicals of which you are most assuredly apart. The facts are there but just like Mcloud you spew the same talking points that the liberal media dishes out for you to eat. Al Gore uses over 30% more energy than the average American. Go look it up, there is a company in TN that published it's findings on line. His "carbon footprint" is many times bigger than anyone elses. On top of the private jet that he owns and flies all over the world. If he was really worried about global warming he would lead by example. When he last to Bush in 2000 his net worth was just over one million dollars. Now after this whole global warming crap that he has headed up his net worth is around nine million ( interesting don't you think?) He has invested heavily in a company that stands to make a fortune if the "cap and tax" bill is passed, according to John stossel. Now why would Gore go and invest all this money into a company that is going to clean house if one of the most atrocious, freedom killing, free market restricting bill passes. He is doing all of this for the money and power that comes with it. He is corrupt like most of the government is already. He is known as a low down liar, he recently stated in an interview that the earth's core is in the millions of degrees when in actuallity it is in the thousands. Now why would he go and say something like that when he knows it is a lie but the average American is going to believe him because 1. the media is going to do it's job and call him on it and 2. he is trying to scare as many uneducated people into believing this load of crap. You, mcloud, bella and ss3 go take your super liberal thinking somewhere else.

Unfortunately there are too many people that will beleive anything they hear. They are called Koolaid drinkers. These so called koolaid drinkers are subsequently led around with a leadrope by the liberal media. These same people want to save the earth and help the common man, but they also think that hunters who donate deer meat to a homeless shelter or a food drive for the hungry, are criminal murders. This goes to prove their true iq. They are disturbingly becomeing more and more frequent to websites like this that are meant to be for hunting and fishing, and continually spew out more insults than what they can really even comprehend. They insult the very first person that they rely on to survive, farmers and ranchers, that actually feed them for a cost of little to nothing. The price of food has hardly increased compared to other expenses of inflation over the last 50 years that it is almost impossible to even raise this food you eat. Then they think that we should cripple our country by cap and trade and UN treaties that would literally ruin our economy and country. Unfortunately for them and everyone else they will only learn their lesson after they ruin all the agribusiness in this country and no longer can afford to buy food and eat. When they finally ruin this country and realize that farmers, ranchers, and small people and business's are what this country is supported with they will cry baby around and still blame Bush for everything.
ps. when you go hungry don't come crying to me to help you out as I know how to take care of my own.

I'm sorry, but the verdict is in, global warming is a fact. The northern polar icecap is melting. Greenland and Antartica are losing their mantles of ice. Almost all mountain glaciers are receding as global temperatures increase. If you have ever taken in the beauty and grandeur of the mountains and glaciers of Glacier National Park, those gaciers are now predicted to be completely melted away by 2020, as are the glaciers in Colorado, and Africa.

Did you know there are glaciers in Africa? Well, yes there are. If you find that hard to believe, wait ten years and it will be hard to believe because it will no longer be true, but currently is true. So, believe it for now, but you can forget this trivia in ten years. Just like you can forget about the glaciers in the lower 48 states.

Nonpolar ice is disappearing all over the globe. Major glaciers have entirely disappeared from the Andes, and the Himalayas have lost a third of their snow.(National Geographic)

There is evidence from the increase of pine beetle infestations in the western US & Candada, increase in forest fires, to coral reefs bleaching and dying off, along with the interconnented reef ecosystems.

Etc. Etc. Etc.

Not trying to cause alarm, but WHAT MORE EVIDENCE DO YOU NEED? THE POLAR ICECAPS ARE MELTING!!!!!!!

Consider this article from The Australian: (H/T Watts Up With That)

ICE is expanding in much of Antarctica, contrary to the widespread public belief that global warming is melting the continental ice cap.

The results of ice-core drilling and sea ice monitoring indicate there is no large-scale melting of ice over most of Antarctica, although experts are concerned at ice losses on the continent’s western coast.

Antarctica has 90 per cent of the Earth’s ice and 80 per cent of its fresh water. Extensive melting of Antarctic ice sheets would be required to raise sea levels substantially, and ice is melting in parts of west Antarctica. The destabilisation of the Wilkins ice shelf generated international headlines this month.

However, the picture is very different in east Antarctica, which includes the territory claimed by Australia.

East Antarctica is four times the size of west Antarctica and parts of it are cooling. The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research report prepared for last week’s meeting of Antarctic Treaty nations in Washington noted the South Pole had shown “significant cooling in recent decades”.

And here’s the graph that goes with the findings:

Source: Cryosphere Today

Why are global warming alarmists wrong?

Now we know that they’re wrong. Why are they wrong? Well, maybe I should start by showing that the media is cherry-picking data in order to delude the public. This post by Anthony Watts which explains how the media deliberately recycles the images and stories about imminent climate catastrophes. This time, it’s about a vast antarctic shelf that’s about to collapse.

Only one problem. It was just about to collapse last year, but the media is re-using the the same scary stock photo and story again this year and telling us again that it’s just about to collapse.

Excerpt:

Those masters of disaster are at it again, and it appears our friendly scientists at that National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) help this story along each year.

…It seems that not only is the photography recycled, so is the storyline. It seems to happen every year, about this time. Note the photos show shear failure and cracks, not melted ice. Shear failure is mostly mechanical-stress related, though ice does tend to be more brittle at colder temperatures.

National Geographic reported this story headline last year, March 25th 2008.

…From the Nat Geo story:

“[It's] an event we don’t get to see very often,” Ted Scambos, lead scientist at the U.S. National Snow and Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colorado, said in a press statement.

Now, how is it that an ice shelf breaks up in the spring of 2008 and again in the spring of 2009 and it’s “not very often”? Hmmm.

Watts goes on in his post to take a look at how much the ice shelf has really changed over the years (it hasn’t) and whether the air temperatures have gotten warmer (theyhaven’t) such that the air would be causing cracks. So all we really have is a scary re-used photo and a lot of propaganda.

What are the economic effects of policies based on global warming alarmism

Well, to start with, we’re going to lose a lot of jobs, due to increase taxation and regulation of “the rich” and “greedy corporations”. And, the EPA is going to raise consumer energy prices and put American money in the pockets of terrorists, by curtailing domestic energy production. And, we’re going to waste tons and tons of taxpayer money subsidizing corporations to be “green”.

The good news: public opinion is shifting away from global warming alarmism

A recent Rasmussen Reports poll shows that there is hope. (H/T The Chilling Effect)

Global Warming is Primarily Caused By…
Date Human activity Planetary Trends Other Reason
Apr 09 34% 48% 7%
Mar 09 41% 43% 7%
Feb 09 38% 45% 7%
Jan 09 44% 41% 7%
Dec 08 43% 43% 6%
Apr 08 47% 34% 8%
So at least we’re slowly winning the battle for truth. Unfortunately, Obama has got until 2010 until he can be challenged in the mid-term elections.

The surface temp. of the sun is 5780 degrees Kelvin, that is 9944.3 degrees Fahrenheit. The core temp. of the earth is estimated to be 5700 Kelvin, or 9800.3 Fahrenheit, as reported in Wikipedia. In 2007 a team from the M.I.T. published a finding that the temperature at the outer edge of the earth’s core was 6,650 degrees Fahrenheit.
These estimates are a far cry from what labrador12 reported a week ago. He or she claimed that Vice President Al Gore misstated the value for the core temp. of the earth. Which is true. VP Gore did make that mistake. But, Ms. labrador12 ironically attacked Gore for being wrong on that fact, then lab12 made up his/her own facts, stating: “Last week he(Gore) was on a TV show explaining how the Earths core has a temp of "millions " of degrees. The Sun's surface temp is approx 6 million degrees. Algore is a non-scientist who believes in many things that are factually horrendously incorrect.” Thank you labrador12 for proving nothing while being thoroughly insulting. Job well done.

Actually, thank you for accepting that CO2 levels are rising. I am amazed that so many on this site have some agenda to ignore and/or attack science. Contrary to media reports Antarctic sea ice continues to expand. Ice totals for November 2009 are significantly higher than 1979 when measurements began. The main stream media concentrates on a couple of small areas of the Antarctic in order to scare you in to believing that Antarctica is melting, when in fact its gaining ice.

From the National Snow and Ice Data Center, University of Colorado

Since measurements began in 1979 antarctic sea ice has continued to expand, contrary to what the news media would have you believe. We bring this information to you month after month and still there is no sign of the main stream media picking up on the story. They continue to discuss the relatively small areas of the Western Antarctic Peninsula that are melting due to changes in ocean currents.

You may have heard that some of the “computer models” predicted increases in antarctic ice, but they predicted increased “interior ice” due to increased snow fall. None of the models predicted increased sea ice around the antarctic. Yet that is what we have, more sea ice in November of 2009 than what we had in November of 1979 when measurements began. This is highly significant yet hardly anyone in the main stream media (MSM) is talking about it.

Sea ice is much different than interior ice. Some of the computer models predicted increased ice over the interior of antarctic. If you've ever lived in the extreme cold temperature regions you already understand the reason why. When it gets very cold the air become drier and it snows less, as the temperature warms towards freezing it actually snows more. Since the antarctic rarely even gets close to freezing its understandable that warming would cause more snow fall. Over time compacted snow would lead to more ice. But that is not what is happening here. We're seeing increases in “sea ice”, this ice is over the ocean. Sea ice is caused by colder temperatures, not by increased snow fall. But we hear nothing from either the MSM or the scientific community. Especially compared to the out 6%-7% decrease at the arctic (this isn't year over year, this is a 6% decline since 1980!).

Antarctic Sea Ice for November
Extent Concentration
2009 16.3 million sq km 11.6 million sq km
1995 16.0 million sq km 11.4 million sq km
1979 15.9 million sq km 11.2 million sq km
This continues a long trend of increasing sea ice that has been noted here for several months.

Interior ice is also increasing but not due to warming as the models have predicted. According to NOAA GISS data winter temperatures in the antarctic have actually fallen by 1°F since 1957, with the coldest year being 2004. All the while global CO2 levels have gone up and the main stream media has been reporting near catastrophic warming conditions. They regularly show Antarctic sea ice shelves breaking apart, which is an entirely normal process (though they never tell you that part). The main stream media and certain segments of the scientific community truly must have no shame.

Check out www.dailymail.co.uk for Sun Dec 13 on the climate story. Dr Keith Briffa is quoted as saying "I believe the recent warmth was probably matched about 1000 years ago." This is the tree ring data guru who fudged his data to hide the decline. If as Dr Briffa admits, the Medieval Warming Period was as warm as today, and or if the 1930's were as warm as today, what effect does atmospheric CO2 have on temp? CO2 is increasing, agreed. Previous temps were as warm, agreed. CO2 is not the primary driver of atmospheric temps, agreed?

I'm a biologist not a solar scientist. I believe in observable data. When observed data is manipulated to prove the opposite from what it is I get way pissed off. This is fraud. These guys are guilty of a crime. They should be put in jail. They are ruining the reputation of scientists everywhere. I don't say the science was faked, I say it was manipulated to indicate non accurate information. Briffa admits the Medieval Warming period was as warm as today and then changes his data to hide the 500 year period of warming. That is not a hoax, that is a fraudulent misuse of data. The conclusion that the increasing levels of CO2 increase the temp today is called into question. If previous warmings were the result of natural forces, which would seem to be the case, then reducing man made CO2 would result in no changes in the environment. Individual liberty and freedom would be tremendously impaired though. I can handle the truth, lets see the data. Stop the cover up. Journalists are at least as responsible for this farce as the "scientists" involved. The story was just too good not to hype. Even F&S has repeatedly jumped the shark on this one.

b. In the RECENT past, up to 30% of the world's oxygen comes from the rain forests, generally in South America.
c. Said forest getting cut and burned back at a million acres a year.

Couple that with the cutting down of forests all over the world to make new living space, then wonder why there's more CO2?

I've taken two environment science classes in college years ago. What they teach makes you think it's true. But of course we know better. Everything got debunked in researching the subject. Here is great book to read but will be hard as heck to find, "Environmental Overkill" by Dixie Lee Ray. She was governor of the state of Washington.

Robert- you telling Rabbitpolice88 to save his money as he would need it later when this fallacy becomes fact and this would be his worry not yours doesn't make sense. First, you hit the nail on the head when you said fallacy. Fallacies never become fact because they are just that, a fallacy. When you mentioned saving money and it won't be your worry, what does money have to do with the falsehood of global warming anyway?

The earth itself produces much more carbon dioxide than we do burning fossil fuels. Besides, CO2 is a natural element, (Not a pollutant like the EPA says.) all vegetation uses it and in return produces oxygen. Nature produces over 200 billion ton of carbon dioxide per year and we only produce around 7 billion ton per year. The oceans emit CO2 every second of every minute, so do the rain forests and for that matter, all forested areas. Even where you hunt contributes CO2. Forest and grass fires contribute. Each one of the 6 billion people breathing on this planet contributes CO2. So does every living creature. We are now in a time of greatly increased volcano activity, the greatest in 500 years. One thing that is a problem is the deforestation of the rain forests. The rain forests make up only 7% of the land mass of this planet but produces 1/3 of our oxygen, which means it consumes 1/3 of the CO2 in the atmosphere. It's the different ocean currents like El Nino and La Nina that effect our weather, not CO2. Besides, with more CO2, the crops grow bigger, and that has been proven. The scientists that are agreeing with the falsehood get HUGE grants for doing just that. Keeps them in the money.

Thanks for mentioning the rainforest, those trees store CO2.But easily 2/3 that CO2 is released by waste, fire and decomposition when the tree is harvested. With all that work the land isn't given back to the forest, they burned it off for a cattle ranch. Now the rainforest debate has been around for some time.Do you think that issue has been dealt with?Just like global warming, the real issue is man's greed and its reluctance to adapt to change.

Robert-
What I was applying was facts, you were the one applying elementary school science lessons with your reference to the earth is flat. Nice one!!
About the trees in the rain forest storing CO2, (This would also include all trees on the planet.) that would be correct amondo, but I don't know where you got that 2/3 of the CO2 that trees store is released.
But trees also produce oxygen from CO2, (That's the stuff we breath if you didn't get that from your elementary school science lessons.) By the way, the land in the rain forest after they clear it is also used for farming. The soil is so poor, that it only is productive for acouple years. Then they move on to destroy more rain forests. Also, every country consumes many trees, forest fires out of control produces more CO2. Now read my last post again and see if you can comprehend the facts.
The reason why the rain forests are so important is because it makes up only 7% of the land mass of this planet but produces 33% of our oxygen, and that means the remaining 93% of the land produces about 66% of the oxygen. That's 7% makes 33% the remaining 97% makes 66%. That is a very dramatic difference. Sunlight doesn't even make it to the floor of rain forests, That's just how thick it is with foliage.
NO I don't think the issue has been dealt with. They need to figure out how these poor people can make a living without destroying the rain forest.
I'm quite educated on the environmental science so I assume you were referring to yourself when you said-
" That would require us to become educated on something more than hunting or fishing."

The amount of CO2 that is manmade is a minuscule of what the planet produces naturally. Our burning fossil fuels does not contribute to the CO2 levels as much as the destruction of the rain forests and the voracious appetite mankind has for wood products. Look at the amount of trees that are being cut in Northwest part of the United States (Also in Alaska and Canada.) just for China and Japan. A staggering amount. The amount of deforestation that goes on worldwide is enormous. We are creating an imbalance of how the planet uses the CO2.
Note- I'm not a trees hugger but just think that people consume to much of things and don't care of consequences.

That is a smaller newspaper compared to the Chicago Tribune, The New York Times or some other major paper, (Which there are many.) Think of how many trees everyday are used for all paper products. Thousands upon thousands.
Just something to think about.

I wouldn't consider this a total rebuttal, but it is something else to think about. I did spend some time working in the Sierra National Forest after high school and the trees in there have to be thinned out a lot. I'm not talking about the large ones, but the small ones that normally get cleared out by natural forest fires. We've spent much time and effort in preventing forest fires in the past... especially when more and more people build cabins and homes "away from it all."

I also lived in Ecuador (see above comment... its a while ago) and I did see first-hand the re-growth of jungle that had been cut down. Yes, the 200+ ft trees are gone, but with the rainfall, plants grow back thickly within a year. It may not produce as much oxygen as before, but it isn't a barren wasteland that gets printed so neatly in schoolbooks. Everything is green year-round over there.

For those who feel that they are going to die because of CO2, I'll support their decision to go live in a bio-dome. The only stipulation is that they can't have internet and bother me.

And they are scared, and will do something about it in Nov. There is a revolution going on, and I don't think the left can do anything about it. They are headed off the cliff, and that is a good thing for the country.

Now Dr Phil Jones of the CRU is admitting that no "statistically significant" warming has occurred in the last fifteen years. He also is hinting that the Medieval Warming Period was as warm as today. Is it not interesting that the last fifteen years saw the most co2 emitted into the atmosphere in history and the temp did not rise? Which climate model predicted that? Obama is still a believer though.

You may call it paranoia, but its really vigilance. Ben Franklin said that we have a republic if we can keep it. I, and many others out there, intend on keeping it. We have to be ready for those who want to change it for the worse. So far, most all enemies have been foreign. Are you saying that there is no possibility that someone would want to destroy this nation from within? We have to remain watchful on all fronts if this nation is to succeed. You need to take a second and realize that blood has been shed for your right to say whatever you want. That may not always exist.

Also, you should knock off the insults. Nobody respects it and is projects a lack of intelligence. You can think what you like and I respect you for that. The least you can do is the same to the next guy. I suspect that you don't know AndyH personally and therefore you have no idea who he is or what he is all about. Don't make it personal.

Robert-
What I was applying was facts, you were the one applying elementary school science lessons with your reference to the earth is flat.
I really think you have been drinking too much of the liberal kool-aid. Get off of the stuff.
I have plenty of money but I don't know of this new world you are referring to, is it in our galaxy or do we have to travel thousands of light years to get there?

c02 is plant food, 20 years ago we were going into the ice age again and their was solid scientific proof of that.

THE POLAR ICECAPS ARE MELTING!!!!!!!

c. Said forest getting cut and burned back at a million acres a year.

Couple that with the cutting down of forests all over the world to make new living space, then wonder why there's more CO2?

Of course, these people would all like to say it's America's fault, simply because we have the most rabid media on the planet.

+3 Good Comment? | | Report
from Wyatt Earp wrote 4 years 13 weeks ago

He is a egotistical gas bag that thinks he knows better than anyone else. I suggest you go educate yourself to what is really happening with this global warming crap.

Now I do believe there may be at least one paid lobbyist on the Board that has an agenda to keep throwing up dust to obfuscate the truth about climate change.

A common misconception is that nothing grows back once rainforest is cut. I lived in Ecuador and yes, there are huge trees in the jungles where the plants are adapted to compete for sunlight. Once its all cut down, the ground cover grows back so thick, that its nearly impossible to walk through. That is something I've seen and observed, yet never heard of any activist ever mention.

Let me also say that you can't beieve everything your taught as they do manipulate things SOMETIMES and teach what they want you to know. Just like the Nazis did in Germany.
Global Warming is a concocted falsehood. The earth itself produces much more carbon dioxde than we do burning fossil fuels. Besides, CO2 is a natural element, (Not a pollutant like the EPA says.) all vegetation uses it and in return produces oxygen.
"Calculations show that man is responsible for adding about 7 billion tons of carbon dioxide annually to the atmosphere. This may seem like an enormous amount until we consider the contribution from nature, which may be as much as 200 billion tons annually."

Also meant to bring up the amount of paper we use. Look at the computer age. Most everyone has a computer and a printer. Look at the reams of paper that is used just for that. There weren't half the amount in the last decade. The Sunday addition of the Minneapolis Tribune uses 700 trees. That is a smaller newspaper compared to the Chicago Tribune, The New York Times or some other major paper, (Which there are many.) Think of how many trees everyday are used for all paper products. Thousands upon thousands.
Just something to think about.

Is it not interesting that the last fifteen years saw the most co2 emitted into the atmosphere in history and the temp did not rise? Which climate model predicted that? I am in college and I can tell you going to college is not what makes you smart. It's amazing how EVERYONE on here knows what science is better than anyone else. All you can do is educate yourself to the best of your ability and then form your own opinion.

If you have someone that looks up to you,I hope your smart enough to keep your mouth shut[your so much cooler on line]. Repeating one liners you hear on the radio gets old real quick, and when that youngster gets wise to you it makes then feel like a fool for listening to you.So good luck with that leadership role of the dumbmasses.

I'm sure most of the Jones Family couldn't spell either. When you get a chance ,DRINK-UP no matter how it's spelled.
Funny you should mention the suject of this Blog, those e-mails where just the vetting of bad data nothing more. Here in the real world your paranoia of a agenda and your revisionist history is what is destroying America.
I don't supect you will ever change ,your view is too narrow and your vision is short of the mark.
My last word to you on this blog ...DUMB@$$

I'm sure you have no idea what your talking about.Otherwise you would have read the whole article and could quote some facts for a change.Instead you release enough CO2 to make a block of dry ice, might want to put that block in the refrigerator on your front porch. If you have read this far, type blowhard in your next blog. The real fraud is in ignoring facts and not checking the facts, worse yet responding without having any real facts. If you only have one source of information ,you only get one vote.
