Campfire
At this time of the year, I'm still somewhat cooped up in my dorm room waiting for spring fishing to come around. When I'm not out hiking, which is more often than I'd like, I'm looking for some do-it-yourself projects to keep me occupied and entertained until it's time to turn my attention to bass.
What are some projects you all have tried, planned on trying, or just think would be cool to try? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and I think all of us could benefit from a few ideas.
Last year i refinished the stock on my deer rifle after the season was over. Came out pretty nice and was more work than i anticipated. Refletching arrows is usually necessary after the season.
Making a catalog of aerial photos of hunting sites or stands with prevailing wind info and notes is something you could do in your dorm on a rainy day. You can stategize for next season. I also search for new spots with the help of Google earth and the like along with tax maps.
Last year I build a kit blackpowder single shot pistol. It took a weekend, and came out great.
Fly tying also gets me through - just put on a movie, grab a beer, and start wrapping thread.
Just uploaded a picture of the pistol.
Just got thru making 2 new turkey calls using turtle shells I have found
