Campfire
I sent this message to their corp. HQ and BBB I wonder what they are going to do when I go in there tomorrow. If the past is any clue, I know i am in for some headaches.
When I purchased my Coleman travel trailer I was hoping for some relaxing times with my family after 10 yrs of long deployements, I should have bought a boat I guess :)
I went to CW COSP to look at the trailers, I walked around the lot for three hours and received zero assistance. About 2 hrs into things a salesman approached asking if we needed assistance, I told him I want to purchase a trailer, he said "oh Ok I have some other customers right now" On my way out I stopped off by the sales office to let be friendly and let them know about the issue. I allowed the sales manager to "give us a second chance" I purchased the trailer.
I took delivery and things improved, what I didn't know was that Marcus and the receptionist are the only customer service orientated people in COSP. I was told during delivery that the second key is attached to the ring, did't try it. I found out a few days later that one key fit and the other has a wrong SN. I went to the "service" dept. to see if they could locate my other key. I was given a blank and told to go to the north side of town because not many can make this key, real nice.
We loaded up the grandkids and went to a state park for the weekend. The leveler crank absolutely did not fit so I got to level the trailer with a 6" crescent. We used minimal amounts of water and the pump stopped pumping after about 10 gallons of water and would only work when it was absolutely full. I went to CW in COSP to make an appt to get the pump looked at and was told that my siding and linoleum was in. The siding and linoleumm had damge from the factory. I was told by the service adviser that the would get the trailer in and take care of all the issues. I signed a work order that only had the siding, linoleum and crank handle on it. I asked about the water pump the adviser told me that only things that have been ordered show up on the W/O ( this comes up again later)
After a few weeks with the trailer inservice my wife called and asked for a status report. She was not talked to very nicely and the adviser was worried more about winterizing than answering her question, I take care of the winterizing of course she doesn't know about it. The adviser said that the pump was never on the work order, even though that is why I went to the store anyway. I spoke with the adviser and his attitude left much to be desired, especially since I had been very patient. He stated numerous times "I have a signed work order and denied that I had questioned that in the first place. I spoke with the GM and he said he would take care of me, I was the connected to the service manager whou was spending more time with the same tired rhetoric that I received from the service adviser, at least his tone was nicer but rhetoric and no actions. I was promosed a key and that everything else would get fixed.
On 30 APR I was told everything was ready for me, the trailer was there from 26 Mar-30 APR. I went to pick up the trailer and was told everything was fixed and working. I was then pointed to the location of the trailer. I nice hey could I help back you up would have been nice or a let me show you what was done but I guess not at CW COSP. Ok I hooked up the trailer and took it to me storage location.
In preperation for our trip next weekend I picked up the trailer to sanitize the tanks and test the pump out. I opened up the faucets and started to let water in, after was about half way full I started the pump to test things out. The pump worked and I let the water run to make sure. I went in the house and came back working on things outside and loading up the cabin. I noticed the siding that was "fixed" looked horrible misaligned and shoddy, I was better off before the repair! That is when I saw water dripping from the back side. I looked in the trailer and water is all over the floor. I turned everything off and grapped towels. I immediatly figured something came loose in the plumping and started takeing pictures all the way up to opeining the access panel. I then saw a hose that came off of the pump, took a picture and went to reconnect the hose, the hose clamp was extremely loose.
The back pass side was dripping water so I had to put 3 small cuts in it to get the water out of the insulation as fast as possible.
I now have a "new" trailer with water damage that I have owned since Feb. and have only used it once. I reserved a place and took leave for next week. I have zero trust in CW COSP, am worried how long will it take to fix the damage, (worried about mold, bowing wood etc) and I have a "new" trailer that is messed up thus lowering any resale value later. With the track record so far at CW COSP I know they will look everywhere else for the blame but from where it stems, the tecj did not tighten a blasted hose clamp. I connected the hose and tightened the clamp.
I truly hope that they will make things right, I am not sure how because the vehicle is damaged and who knows how long they will take to fix it IF they realize it was their oversight. My biggest concern is them owning up to it and the fact that the damage was caused by them. This is like getting an oil change and the drain plug is not put back on.
In all of my years I have never had such a horrible experience with anything I have purchased. They are good at rhetoric with the "customer service" and "give us a second chance"., actions do speak louder than words.
Hengst,
I watch or question or follow-up on everything i have done on anything - vehicle, house, gun, you name it.
My latest vehicle screw up was in buying a new battery from big national store, the installer hooked up 12v. supply to the computer hook up for the emissions teat to supposedly keep the circuit energized so my settings would not be lost. . Blew something that put the car in emergency shut down mode. Would not go over 25 and nothing but 4 ways worked. Luckily it was not the main computer, it was a in line fuse that protected the computer. Cost to parts store was close to $350 for Jeep to diagnose and fix, plus the cost of rental car.
Second i had a tire balanced and mounted and put on left rear. I knew something was wrong as my outside mirror started to shake.
Took the Jeep to a large Goodyear Center and had them check the balance and it was off by 2oz. of too much weight.
Watch everything you can and double check all work -
jhjimbo,
Advice I am sure to follow! If I just don't fix it myself then it will be double checked.
I did send out emails and complaints to half the rv related world and BBB. It looks like that helped. CW got back in touch with me today and are looking at options etc.
Had a similar experience with some brand new tires I purchased recently, not balanced at all! Plain crazy
