Field and Stream vs. outdoor life

Uploaded on January 31, 2009

OK, I know that I like Field And Stream Better than outdoor life. Hence the Capitals. but i just wanted to know if everybody else felt that way. also I'm sure that most of us get an issue of FS each month and we crave for it every month. i just don't feel that way when i get any other outdoors magazines. just wondering about feedback.

I strongly prefer Field and Stream over Outdoor Life. The writers show greater talent, look at issues more in depth, and put together a much better read.
Outdoor life seems to cater to a more immature reader and they seem to only hit the highlights of issues.

I am waiting on my first issue of FS and I can't wait. I have picked up magazines here and there for a couple of years and finally got FS in my hands and there is no comparrison. This magazine is not only extremely helpful and well written but so is the webpage

F & S is just plain better. It's more helpful and plus your asking this on the Field and Stream website. If you went and asked outdoor life readers they would probably say...outdoor life of course.

As far as websites go I do like FS better but I'd also point out that they both have the same publishing company and they are doing some of the same things on the web. They both are good magazines and I have a subscription to both.

F&S! But I do enjoy getting both issues each month. One magazine might cover something the other didn't, and I enjoy that.

I do like field and stream because they have great survival stories and they provide tips to the readers every month. And they have this cool web site to entertain you.

I have to agree that F&S is much better than OL. They seem to show more interest in topics and give as much insight on a specific subject better then any other sportsmans mag. out there.
Also I really love the fact that they include so many different "everyday Joes" in thier articles and the heroes that they really are.

I've been getting F&S since the fifth grade and kept every issue but a couple, not that I'm a sophomore in high school i actually understand the words and not just the pictures anymore.

The reason the websites look similar is because both F&S and OL are owned by the same company.

It wouldn't matter what web site you ask on...Field & Stream is
the best. I have read Outdoor Life but perhaps someone could tell me why you would suscribe to it or look forward to it month
after month.

There is a reason VT outdoorsman has 3 stars on his account. F&S and Outdoor life are owned by the same company, which offers a great opportunity. For $20 a year, you can get both, and both are worth it. What one doesn't cover, the other does. F&S is the varsity squad, but Outdoor Life is a great JV.

McMannus vs Heavey? McMannus every time. Heavy even bows to the master.
Apart from this one exception, F&S wins out. (are they not both published by the same company?)

I subscribe to both. I usually get something good from both of them, especially if there is a specific theme to an issue and I want to read about something else.

The real question is...

Lowe's or Home Depot?

Well, As usual I have an opposing opinion. I don't hunt whitetails, have never hunted from a tree stand, and do not consider shooting animals over bait to be sporting or even hunting. I don't fish much for crappie or bass. So, the more F&S specializes in these endeavors the less I am able to relate to the articles. Recently they swerved into the political left lane which certainly does not resonate with me. Outdoor Life on the other hand, has more articles on elk, antelope, and mule deer hunting and approaches the outdoors from a western point of view.
