Campfire
For years my father, my uncle and me, have all hunted in this one location. I usually sit in the back of the property and my father the front and my uncle gets the side. Now I'm not saying anything bad about my uncle, he is a good guy, but his hunting techniques and the way he goes about things are all wrong.
All these years he has set his stand up the same way, over looking the edge of this swamp. Its a pretty good setup. But he can only see two ways, in front of him and to the left, the right is way to thick. But the thing is if he would move is stand up farther he could watch all three areas, but of course, he don't listen.
This year I decided that I would move my stand so that I can catch all the deer that he misses because he cant see them. I located a tree that's about 100 yds to right of him and my stand is at about 14 ft. high through all the thick timber and brush.
Now is this too close? I really don't think it is and if he cant shoot that way any how, I shouldn't be in any risk right?
Rifle hunting, you're too close. Bowhunting, you're not.
