Uploaded on June 25, 2009

Do you think that those that are in blacktail country, are hunting the hardest to get the trophy deer?

I've been hunting blacktail off and on for the last 32 yrs. now. I find them to be one of the most challenging to hunt. A lot of their activity is nocturnal which calls for very early morning hunts, or late in the evening. I was lucky and drew a tag for an early season (early September )High Cascade hunt I'm looking forward to. Will be hunting the Mt.Jefferson Wilderness for blacktail.

I moved to Northern CA for a few years from MI. Hunting for blacktails in CA was some of the hardest hunting that I have ever experienced, especially coming from MI. But, man was it fun.
