NBA playoffs

Uploaded on April 29, 2011

Ok, time to get away from politics and other touchy subjects for a bit. Anybody following the NBA playoffs and if so, who are you pulling for and what are you predicting? I've been a Lakers fan since the days of Magic, Jabar, Worthy, and company so my heart's in LA. I look for another Lakers/Celtics final. Regards.........

I couldn't care less about basketball. Besides, I'm too busy enjoying watching my Cleveland Indians own their division, and the American League! Go Tribe!

I grew up watching Kobe and Iverson, so I'm rooting for the Lakers. Plus, two straight three-peats for Kobe is just to cool to not root for, especially since my Pistons aren't even in the contest. And, I'm definitely anti-Lebron/anti-Heat, so rooting for the West helps that too.

I'm for anybody that Miami plays too. I don't think it was entirely proper how the three amigos wound up together there. Colin Cowherd was talking about the future of the Lakers the other day on ESPN radio, purely speculation, mind you, but very interesting just the same. Check this out. Best...........

007,
Don't be offended but with the overpaid brats that pretend to play the game of pro basketball and are walking billboards for the tattoo industry, and at least half of them should be in jail, I would rather go outside and watch the grass grow. It is much more exciting and I don't want my grandson having any of them as a role model. Right now Boo Weakley the hunting pro golfer is his idol and I want to keep it that way.

Sarge, you know me better than that, especially after the ragging you guys gave me over my Bone Collector T-shirt. hahah. I know, they are pretty much as you called it, but I'm afraid I'm a bit of a basketball junkie.

Got to pull for the hometown boys, the Thunder. The Lakers better watch out if they can manage to beat Mark Cuban's brat pack.
Basketball junkie here, too. Basketball and tennis are great sports for staying fit.

Durant makes it known that he reads his Bible everyday and as far as I know he doesn't have any visible tattoos.
Figured that sounded like your sort of guy, my mistake.

gumby,
I don't know enough about Durant to make a decision. I haven't read what his values are or how he conducts himself around all of his buddies. I hope that he walks the walk if he talks the talk. More power to him. My grandson is forbidden to even mention Tiger Woods, I have explained why he is a poor excuse for a human being. I was amazed how he used to play golf, and being a Veteran I admired his Father but he let everyone down even the memory of his Father. Now I pull for anyone against him even for lefty Phil who has gone through a bunch of trials the last couple years with his wife's cancer.

Didn't expect to see the Lakers get spanked so badly. Phil Jackson can ride off in the sunset though, he's got more championship rings than fingers. He'll have to take his shoes off to wear 'em all.

Definitely the Thunder. They play right down the road from me. Although Russell Westbrook does deserve his new found reputation as a ballhog. Bad decisions everywhere!
Nope. Not gonna pull for Dallas. We Okies don't care much for teams south of the Red River. Plus Mark Cuban was very vocal in opposing a team at all in OKC. Boo.

With all due respect, who are you calling "kiddo?" You're the one over here talking about basketball like a little toddler talks about NASCAR. Good grief! For your information, Stroke, no, I don't need blood pressure medication. I don't take any medication. Sounds like you could use some, though...

I like baseball. I am an Indians fan. I am willing to deal with the fact that some players cheat, because, well, they are cheaters. But I can assure you that no players for the Indians take drugs. And ever heard of water pills and all that stuff? Yeah, basketball. All basketball is is a bunch of big ego guys jumping from team to team, whoever will pay them the most for being TERRIBLE at their sport. Look at LeBron James.

Just watched a pretty spectacular comeback. Miami/Dallas finals... could be worse. I'm curious though, what is it about Lebron, Bosh, and Wade all being on the same team that has everyone so down on them? I can't figure it out. The big press conference and "victory celebration" was a little over the top, but in the sports world folks who are over the top are a dime a dozen. I don't follow the Heat, but I don't see what the problem is with the makeup of the team...

I think the reason most people don't like the Heat is the "victory celebration" you mentioned. People in our society love to see the mighty fall from the top. Is it right? I don't know.

I guess if they end up winning it all then maybe the ends do justify the means, but no one's gonna like it.
