Like our new redesign? Hate it? Tell us why, and what we can do better.
There are some bugs we're aware of (and are working to fix), but others we have yet to find. If you see something, let us know here (and be sure to post a link to the problem so we can find it quickly).
Thanks for your patience as we get this thing running on all cylinders!

Beautiful redesign! It light years ahead of your old site. Congrats!
I like. Very cool.
Huge improvement. Nice work.
Awesome. Does this mean there will be more David Petzal?
Well, so far I find the entire site much slower and I have thus far found only only blog entry on which I can post a comment. Looks a lot nicer, functions far worse.......sounds like the work a crack marketing department. Oh, and let me not forget that if I want to honor of being allowed to post a comment now I must go through the additional steps of logging on. So make the tally: 1) looks prettier; 2) functions worse; and 3) is additional work for me (the consumer). Nice!!
It looks cool and I like all the new features. The login/register was a pain but not too bad. I think it'll be worth it in the end. Nice job.
I Must Agree that is is Much Slower But Way Way Nicer I'm Sure all the Kinks will work themselves out and it will be back up to operating order in no Time
it can be a little slow, plus i wish you would put the blogs on the front page agian. The login thing was a pain at first, but the rewards are worth it in the end. All in all great site guys keep up the good work.
I like it. Nice design. I'm not noticing it running any slower, so I have no complaints there. I'm actually glad to of had to register a user name and password. Maybe that will keep the yahoos from leaving senseless comments on the blogs and photo galleries.
B north as a good point mentioning the spammers leaving there crap on the posts.

Bnorth...you gotta do better than that built in elk icon buddy. You're a regular. Let's see an original bnorth catch or kill photo
it is taking me a little time to find my favorite blogs, etc but overall a nice update. thanks also for updating your sister publication's website. the OL site was a real drag.
Love the revamped website!
Clean, crisp and easy to navigate. I didn't find the registering a problem at all. What a great update. Nice job editors. I love it.
Great improvements! Love the look and feel and the networking opportunities. You're engaging the reader in a personal relationship and dialogue at every turn. Cutting edge stuff--great to see from the hook and bullet world that pretty much invented the word "anachronism." May be something after all to that Manhattan location!
It looks good and the social connections are cool. It doesn't even look like a hunting site but it works.
Don't listen to wags. Sounds like he got dropped on his head as a baby. I think the site functions a lot better and is actually easier to use than before. Yes, now I have to register, but I think that's actually kind of cool. I did notice some weird quirks when loading some pages (a bar across the middle of the page) that seemed to be a bug.
Very sllllllllllloooooooooooooowwwwwwwwww response.
Must of rewritten the entire thing using that hideous Java language. If you wanted all this dynamic html content you should have went with adobe flash (flex is da bomb).
I love the new site. I really dont mind registering because it keeps the morons that post all of the trash and links out. I like the Answers portion and the message boards. Keep up the good work there at F&S!!
It's really fast using the Firefox browser on my Mac. Seems kind of slow on Safari, but maybe I need to update the software. Safari has been crashing a lot on me lately. If the site seems slow to you, try another browser. I love the new features, especially the way the slide shows work, letting you zoom in on photos, and the much improved navigation.
Totaly awesome makeover it was kinda slow initily but now it's not bad. I realy like the new registration because it will cut down on peta members spamming us all.
Great!
I would have to say it looks cleaner and crisper. But waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ttooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
ssslllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
way too slow for page viewing let alone actually commenting.
I like it a lot, really nice to be able to interact with everyone and get some questions answered quickly.
Great site, especially making it more interactive.
Overall, well done. Hats off to Nate, et al.
I suspect the robust graphics combined with the literary heft on display are causing my lame-speed internet connection to gasp. Just the excuse I need to upgrade my Heath Kit computer. This does indeed test the manliness of my motherboard. Hmmm....
well...its like a girl I used to date: looks nice, yet kinda slow...all in all, its OK...
The site is cool and all but it really wears on your eyeballs. stare at your site for 10 minutes then go onto www.BFRO.com and feel your eyes go back to normal. Sorry but your background is just WAY TOO WHITE!!
I personally love the new site. Very far ahead of the old sight, and much more fun. I don't find this sight running any slower than the old one.
It was quite an adjustment at first. I didn't have a clue where I was at first.
I'm liking its interactiveness. Better to have a community of users and bringing more people into the forums. I subscribe to the magazine, also, and this really enhances what I get out of the whole idea of subscribing in the first place: collecting info, perusing photos, and generally being in an area with like-minded folks.
Visually and content-wise, a great improvement. WAY too slow, but maybe that is because many more folks are looking than before?
alert('hi');
I really like the new site. It's very userfriendly and easy to navigate. It's much better than the old one, great job guys, keep it up!
Very cool! But why is it so slow?
I agree with some of the earlier posts. It really does remind me of an old girlfriend. Really good looking, nice, but slow. Eventually called her less and less, then stopped talking to her. The problem is probably on my end, but it already has impacted how often I try to check here. This is probably good for my productivity, however.
I think the site is great. People need to slow down a little anyway. Isn't that why we all go fishing/hunting? To get away from all the fast-paced times of life? Aside from that, the registration really isn't much of anything compared to most other sites. If people would compare the benefits the registration time they would realize it is nothing to complain about. My favorite part about the site is the opportunity it gives me to learn from experienced people through blogs/questions/articles and feedback. The layout is also very user-friendly looks great too.
Like many of the others that have commented, I find the site very slow. Call me old fashioned, but I liked the old site. It did not seem broken to me so why did you "fix it"?sometimes when we update things, adding a lot of stuff 'cause we can, we make it useless, like wristwaches for example. We added a lot of "features" to them, that if you didn't use that feature or function all the time you fogot had to use it, so you didn't. then we realized that almost everything in our lives has the time on it, so most folks don't even wear their watches anymore.
So I hope you will make this site simple, and make it function.
nice look, but if it stays this slow I'll never look at it, no interest in trying to follow links that will never open. Thanks for trying, but I had no problem with the old sight. Looks like another case of looks over substance (one of the photo's below this won't even load...)
What in the world is this??? OBAMA ads on Field and Stream!!!!!!!! That makes me want to vomit. I like Field and Stream but if stuff like that keeps popping up, count me out also will not renew my subscription to the mag if more stuff like that pops up. Looks like Field and Stream sold out to Liberal Media.
And another thing...As a West Virginia resident, I know first hand the effects of MTR...But tell me this, if you end MTR who is going to hand out the unemployment checks here in the Mountain State when 1/3 of our miners are without jobs. Also I hope DC likes being in the dark, our coal and one of our power plants (coal fired I might add) keeps that god forsaken place lights on. Make the coal companies (Massey and Console and others) comply with the government regs, well first off, why not make the government regs applicable to MTR...100 foot buffer for streams...what does that really accomplish.
I like the new design, but it is much slower. I'm exposed to some of the writers whom I might not look at, so that's a good thing. I would like to be able to access the last 100 posts, as we could previously. One concern I have is that we might have lost some of our regulars. We haven't heard from the Rocky Mountain Hunter since the changeover. While I vehemently disagree with him politically, his writing was most relied on to select my new deer rifle.
It took a hour or two to form an objective opinion, but I prefer the new site and I think it'll be even more popular with those who read and post here. Good work!
good work it is nice
Whoa! I leave for a week and everything changes!!
Signing up was a bit of a pain but should be worth it in the long run..
My only gripe? SSSSLLLLOOOOWWWWW......
its great
I like the new site.
ONE IMPROVEMENT = Whenever you have reader's photos or whatever in a series the whole page has to reload to go from picture to picture. Can't that be set up to just click from one picture to the next without reloading the whole page? I ALWAYS think twice about how long it is going to take when I consider clicking on a F&S pic.
I never really was on the old site, so I can't really compare. The new site does seem to be pretty nice to me, haven't noticed the slowness that some people have reported. My only grip is that you have Obama ads on here. Whoever agreed to sell you're ad space to them should be fired imediately.
The site is a little slower, but it's nicely designed and looks great. If you have the patience the benefits are awesome.
Although I have been a subscriber to the magazine for the past 4 years I never really got online to view the site until this weekend. That said, I don't have anything to compare it to. So far so good I guess. I have been able to log on, create a profile and upload some photos and comments. If I see anything that may be of help to you guys I will let you know. Thanks for the hard work you guys put into soliciting information from us guys out here....
It's an honor to be allowed FREE access to this site it is a bit slow but worth the wait, very accessible and informative! Thank you for the chance to exchange info on the things we love as sportsmen and women!! Keep up the good work!
All, thank you for your comments and criticism! We're working on addressing the problems you've raised, and will keep this forum open so that you can continue to do so.
The most common complaint we've received has been about the speed of the site. We're adding capacity with some new servers and updated software that should help improve load times, and thank you for your patience as we find new ways to make this a better experience.
--The Eds.
best looking outdoor website I've seen. easy to follow, clear fun, great work all
Very slow also very good. Its my homepage.
Wow! Great job.
...for what it's worth, I was diagnosed with MS in 1997; one of the symptoms I suffer, other than plain stupidity, are vision impairments. So far this site hasn't caused any discomfort or confusion. Smooth flow, superb design!
...as far as the speed: slow? With DSL it transitions fast on my 10-year-old iBook: no complaints from my end.
Doe'nt matter anyway, even if it were 28k slow, I'd endure it just to read anything that David Petzel has to write.
I've found it a little slow too, but if you can fix that, it'll be near perfect. Much more on here than the old site. I love the answers thing.
Seems to be faster when I'm not logged in?
That is one of the things I really like about F&S, the way you keep redesigning the magazine and website. I like it a lot, keep it up.
I wasn't very keen on this new format at first but the more I use it the more I like it. I do appreciate the continued improvements you guys are making.
It looks good. Easy to navigate, I've not had any real issues with the site being slow. Very nice.
when registering it has the option to select province for Canadian residents but it only gives states to select from. so the canadian fans of the magazine and website can't sign up. the same goes for the other bonnier corp website for outdoor life. there are alot of sportsmen from canada that im sure have alot of feedback coments and stories to share aswell but cannot. i personally am from alberta and made a bogus username in order to put up this post. would be greatly appreciated by all of us northerners stuck inside in the cold if we could sign up too...
Bullman,
Thanks for letting us know about that bug. We for sure want our Canadian fans to be able to register. We're working on fixing it now.
Everyone else, thanks for the feedback. The most common complaint seems to be the speed. As Nate said, we're working on adding servers to fix the problem. We'll try to get it fixed ASAP.

I really appreciate all the hard work you put into this website. I like the design because it's very easy to find what you need and I like being able to answer people's questions.
its great much better then the old one
i think its faster then the old site
I really like the site. There is one problem though. I think there should be a way to change your username. I put the wrong one in and now i can't get back to the one i had before. I have 60256, but i want the "i'm in school right now" that i used to have. If there already is a way to change this, i'm all ears. Great site though!
Nate
Great site! I like the fact that it is very interactive. It keeps the best of F&S's readers up to date on everything. Great pictures, great forums. Keep up the good work!!!
The redesign looks good, I like the community environment and the interactivity of the site.
The redesign looks good, I like the community environment and the interactivity of the site.
I like the site but I can't figure out how to post photos, please help! Keep up the great work!
Sere9501, I just tried a test post in Trophy Room and it went through okay. Might be some back-end issues that have since been resolved. Please try it again. If it doesn't work, email me at joe.cermele@bonniercorp.com
A change I'd like to see is when I click on 'blogs' the different authors come up, if I click on 'read more' under a certain one the entire blog comes up for them all and theres alot of scrolling to do. Why not just present the names of the blogs available and let us choose. Would save time and space.
But your still doing admirably.
message board should have a cook book section. other than that love the new site.
it cool it has it advantages and disadvantages
Great job with the redesign!!
great love it
Awesome new site. A little slow but nothing too annoying. I like the user name and password idea.
I think the new site is great! On it every day now!
Where is the "photos of the week" that came so often on the old site?? IS it just that people aren't sending pics anymore?
Nate
I only have one complaint, otherwise the new site is great. When you upload a photo, the url should stay with that photo. Currently if i upload a photo i is number one. Well so i send that url to friends to check it out, before the click the link, someone else loads a pic and it shows their pic and not mine. Pics should get uploaded in the opposite way that they do now. so if i am the 900th person to upload a pic, i will always be pic #900. Otherwise love the new site.
MB, that's exactly the kind of feedback we need. Great point. We'll make your suggestion a priority.
I love it you should see how much i am on.
I like the website. It has a clean, sharp look. I have noticed some lag time on the reply times when you make a post.
Also, as a suggestion could we get a PETA blocker? HA HA
Love the site. One comment: When reading the message boards and other parts of the site, the username of the person that posted the initial message does not show up. Its nice to know who is saying what, so i think the inclusion of the user who posted the initial message would be nice.
Thanks!
I love it. Great job of picking it.:)
Can't find the archives of prior issues, My last mag said there was one?
Hi all.
Just started lurking here about a week ago and really like what I see. Very user friendly and educational.
A BIG thumbs here, Wally.
I like it. Learning lots of stuff from others' input.
The points don't tally right for submissions. Overall I am growing to like it.
It seems to flow nice and easy. I havent noticed where it was any slower then normal! I say "nice work"!
I would suggest monitoring the answers section. I like seeing everyone's answers to good questions, but some them are just retarded. Questions like, "What is your favorite gun?" are getting old. Other than that, this site is fantastic.
Hmmm... should I give away all my secrets? Plus, I don't want to get any F&S people, particularly your advertisers, mad.
I use Firefox as a browser, and it works faster that IE here. Just like many other sites I use. It also has a plugin called noscript, which can disable some of the multi-urls appearing on one page. I also have any pop-ups disabled universally.
i have a 2 things to say
1. i like that you brought back the online tests, but i think you should give points to a anybody who gets like 95% write.
2. i like the way you set up the top part of the website
I think it needs links to previous pages if you know what I mean. I'm talking for example: Message Boards >> Campfire, or Message Boards >> The Wingshooter would make it just that much easier to navigate. Make it so you can click on for example: "Campfire" and it loads up the campfire message board. Makes it easy when you've just commented and want to go back to the campfire message board or something. A little nitpicky but overall it's a good website, just don't use explorer.
It's really nice i like it a lot.
One problem I've had is when you try and post a question the category field doesn't always work correctly.I'll try a couple times and then it works. This can be a little frustrating.
Also it occasionally just puts some random numbers in the middle of your question but you can usually still figure out what people are trying to say.
Why Can't i see all the Answers? It will say (6) and only show 2 or 3. Sometimes my own doesn't show up. This just started happenind a few days ago.
I like the look of everything here, just think it'd be nice to get a voting/poll system put in place for contests etc.
The redesign is pretty sweettastic. Although last week but I don't know now that the icon updates were a little slow. I have notised that the pages are a little faster. Thanks Online Editors for making life a little easier.
HOW DOES HEAVY NOT HAVE A BLOG??? The site's a bit slow, but great overall.
Love it! Would appreciate a "Stories" category in the Message Boards where we could go just to post and read each other's stories. The storiess that are here are lost somewhere between all the other posts.
I like it. Not real happy about "huntress" being canned though.
Editors,
I just posted on Backlash and it took me four trys. What happened was I would make a comment and hit preview, but then there was no button to click submit. I finally typed it the forth time and hit submit. And of course I had left out a key word.
I agree with the majority here that the new look is very good! I have experienced some slow going, too; but not as the norm when reviewing the site.
I have been trying to get my friends involved with the Blogs, as well, since we are on the web most of the time anyway it's a nice way to keep in contact thru an alias!
Needs the option to rank and report questions that people ask. There is only currently the option to rate people's answers.
Great site otherwise
When do you guys "update" the board ?
There seems to be a lot of little bugs in the site looking at and uploading photos etc. I won't go into listing them all because I seem to come across something every time I log in and try to do something. BUT, overall the site looks great and there seems to be no major issues.
i cant post comments in the box on the homepage or on user photos
I like the way you handle the comments.. very clean and easy to read. thanks!
I like it. Find myself checking in all the time and like the way you guys must be getting a lot of input from real hunters. Some of the jokes posted in Campfire ought will bring you into the world of real hunting experiences... not ever going to get that from a company rep selling his wares are you?
But I think we get spread out a little thin with too many places to go?
For example, I have posted stuff on Tred Barta in announcements and got the feeling not too many saw it. Ought to be one place where everybody knows to check all the time. Impractical?
I like it. I wish there could be a quicker way than, going back and forth through my questions and messageboards to find new posts. I may be there I just haven't found it yet. Maybe a post mark on in my profile above or beside Q's and M's with the date and time or somthing. Just a suggestion. Its very good in my eyes excellent job guys.
i dont likee how on the message board the ones with the most recent post go up front, they sghould go in order frome when they wrer posted
one thing for sure, "Answers" is being used as a discussion board. It's the only place you can be sure everybody is checking.
The site is great and keep up the good work ok.
This is really cool, good job to all of you on this. This is the first message board I have been on and you made it very easy to do. There are a pile of really cool people on here and I am learning things I never thought I would learn about, so thanks!!
Buck Boyz
I think it may be slow on some systems and not others I am on FIREFOX and have not noticed a slowdown.
I really enjoy the site being able to talk on sportsman's issues and the outdoors with some knowledgable people. I only have one complaint and if you could give any information about it to me is how does F&S handle point sharks that come on here and get lots of points in a little time so they hope they get gear. Just a question nobody needs to take offence or anything and that I understand a lot of good people are on here for the right reason.
I like the new site. I enjoy the postings and the info I get from other like minded people.
I like it. I think it is great.
I can't post comments under pictures can you fix this for me?
I LIKE IT! more time I spend on it the more I learn
Sometimes the advertisments in the beginning of the website won't go away.
i like it
Bourjaily (sp?) just did a column on the decline of squirrel hunting. You don't have any board for those who pursue squirrels. (Or rabbits, or trappers, etc.) Maybe a general Misc. board would be useful.
I really like this layout! I don't have a problem with the speed at all...
Keep up the awesome work!
Love the site! Just one thing, I shoot all of my photos in hd and my pc doesnt allow me to rotate them if Ive shot in hd. Is there any way we could get a way to customize or rotate photos? If thats all I can find, youve done damn good!
I hate the advertisments that pop up. anything else is great.
When posting pictures, sometimes the thumbnail does not show up, but the enlarged version will, and vise versa. Sometimes neither will show up, but if you click the "enlarge" link, then you will be able to view the picture. Yeah...lots of glitches with the picture posting - very inconsistent.
I still think as Nate has said that you should be able to change your name at least once.

SSSSLLLLOOOOWWWWW......
its great
Wow! Great job.
...for what it's worth, I was diagnosed with MS in 1997; one of the symptoms I suffer, other than plain stupidity, are vision impairments.
That is one of the things I really like about F&S, the way you keep redesigning the magazine and website. I like it a lot, keep it up.
when registering it has the option to select province for Canadian residents but it only gives states to select from. so the canadian fans of the magazine and website can't sign up. the same goes for the other bonnier corp website for outdoor life. there are alot of sportsmen from canada that im sure have alot of feedback coments and stories to share aswell but cannot. i personally am from alberta and made a bogus username in order to put up this post. would be greatly appreciated by all of us northerners stuck inside in the cold if we could sign up too...
Bullman,
Thanks for letting us know about that bug. We for sure want our Canadian fans to be able to register. We're working on fixing it now.
Everyone else, thanks for the feedback. The most common complaint seems to be the speed. As Nate said, we're working on adding servers to fix the problem. We'll try to get it fixed ASAP.

its great much better then the old one
i think its faster then the old site
Great site! I like the fact that it is very interactive. It keeps the best of F&S's readers up to date on everything. Great pictures, great forums. Keep up the good work!!!
The redesign looks good, I like the community environment and the interactivity of the site.

HOW DOES HEAVY NOT HAVE A BLOG??? The site's a bit slow, but great overall.
I agree with the majority here that the new look is very good! I have experienced some slow going, too; but not as the norm when reviewing the site.
I have been trying to get my friends involved with the Blogs, as well, since we are on the web most of the time anyway it's a nice way to keep in contact thru an alias!
I LIKE IT! more time I spend on it the more I learn
I really like this layout! I don't have a problem with the speed at all...
Keep up the awesome work!
nice look, but if it stays this slow I'll never look at it, no interest in trying to follow links that will never open. Thanks for trying, but I had no problem with the old sight. Looks like another case of looks over substance (one of the photo's below this won't even load...)
it cool it has it advantages and disadvantages
I like the way you handle the comments.. very clean and easy to read. thanks!
Sometimes the advertisments in the beginning of the website won't go away.
i like it
Bourjaily (sp?) just did a column on the decline of squirrel hunting. You don't have any board for those who pursue squirrels. (Or rabbits, or trappers, etc.) Maybe a general Misc. board would be useful.
The site is cool and all but it really wears on your eyeballs. stare at your site for 10 minutes then go onto www.BFRO.com and feel your eyes go back to normal. Sorry but your background is just WAY TOO WHITE!!
alert('hi');
Seems to be faster when I'm not logged in?
What in the world is this??? OBAMA ads on Field and Stream!!!!!!!! That makes me want to vomit. I like Field and Stream but if stuff like that keeps popping up, count me out also will not renew my subscription to the mag if more stuff like that pops up. Looks like Field and Stream sold out to Liberal Media.
Nice!!
