Campfire

Sorry to bring up politics

Uploaded on January 23, 2009

I know I shouldnt be talking about politics on a hunting and fishing web site, but I have to spill my thoughts. What do you think about Obama closing down camp delta in gitmo bay? I am scared that the first thing our president does is to remove this prison. First off because what is he going to do with the prisoners? Let them go? Bring them to the states? I personally dont want them in my home town. Secondly why is this his first goal as our president? I mean there has got to be a hundred more things important than the well being of people who want ALL AMERICANS DEAD. Im from Texas so I might be a little judgemental, but I would like some other peoples views. Thanks.

I am from Texas as well and I think this is a bad move, it will come back to haunt him quicker that he thinks. I just hope innocent people do not lose their lives due to his agenda.

Haunting him is one thing, haunting us is another. People that are trained to hate America might see us as weak and prime for another attack if we try and shake the hand that hit us.

I agree with you completely. Why close down a prison that has effectively detained and gotten answers out of Terrorist who planned/have attacked the United States or done any other thing to take freedom away from others. Where does he plan on placing these people? If he sends them here (the states) they will get beaten continually by other inmates. People who victimize children are hated in prison, I can only imagine what they will do to these guys. I think though that we all agree that whatever the treatment, they do deserve it.

We also need to blame the media because they do not keep this guy true. They are obsessed with him and will show no bad. Yet if a republican slips up they are relentless. (Sara Palin.) The media is extremely liberal and in-accurately portrays the situations at hand.

When the media said it will close by the end of the year it just means that we wont hear anymore of it in the news. Which simply means they can leave the terrorists there and slowly return them but the media will never mention it and it will have something to do with how great the president is overseas. Such as his first interview.

I say keep them there for as long as is needed. I don't care what they do to get information out of them either. These a people who hide behind women and children, blow up markets and store fronts. They are out to destroy everything we stand for and believe in. They are cowards and not soldiers of any kind, praying on the wounded, helpless and the weak. They deserve no special treatment. Just the notion that Americans would be so complacent as to even allow the President to think he could get away with closing the prison is absolutely outrageous.

A couple of hundred guys have been released from gitmo because they did not do anything. Closing this prison does not mean the guilty are being released. Hopefully it means that they will be tried according to international standards of judicial processes. Less than that is unAmerican, and unfortunately, that has been the case until last month.

As a veteran, an American, a Texan, and a conservative. I am very pleased with this decision. These guys have been in limbo for far too long. Locking people up without charges or trial is opposed to what America stands for. I agree with you that some of these people should never see the light of day. They need trials to determine guilt and then you impose punishment. Many in Gitmo hate America and that sucks but last I checked it was not a crime. Attacking, planning to attack, or conspiring to attack are crimes. We need to determine who is guilty of a crime and present that evidence in court and punish those found guilty. Locking people up without charges and denying the basics of justice is wrong and always will be.

dumb, dumb, dumb. I would much rather store very dangerous prisoners who want to do serious harm to our country in a place like Cuba surrounded by a thousand Marines than in my back yard.
