What is your dream outdoor trip?

Uploaded on January 28, 2009

What is the one (or two) place that you would like to take a hunting or a fishing trip in the world?

Personally I would like to take a trout fishing trip to the Lake Illiamna tributaries here in Alaska. Very world class fishing. Another place I would love to go is prime caribou hunting in northern Canada.

My fishing trip would also be to Alaska to fish for King Salmon. And my hunting would be Alaska moose of New Mexico Elk.

I would say a trip to costa rica to go fishing for a week or two.

Second would be an Alaskan fishing trip, I have seen so many fishing shows with alaskan trips and I have always wanted to go and stay for a week or more and take it all in and live the dream.

Since I'm dreamin', I'd have Doc Brown take me in his delorean to the Sacramento River before the salmon runs were decimated, and when the state was actually home to the bear that is its state symbol. So hunting and fishing circa....1829 should do it.
(I get to trout, king and halibut fish in Alaska every summer, anyway)

After being around freezing temps for the last few months AK is out of the question. I'm thinking some tropical fishing spots, Okinawa, Hawaii, the Caribean and as far as hunting, I think Africa would be the most awesome place to go on safari. If for nothing else then to see the Serengetti and the wildlife in the plains. I had a chance to go there while in Africa but I didn't go because I would defitely want to experience the beauty of it all with my wife. She would probably outfish me and take about a million pictures of everything...thats why I love her so much.

Puerto Viarta for big yellow fin, marlin and dorado. Or Hawaii for the same.
I would also like to go fly fishing in New Zealand, and maybe some red stag hunting while i am there.

Black death is a nickname for cape buffalo.

I'd have to say that for fishing it would be peacock bass and wolf fish on the amazon. As for hunting I would say cape buffalo in Africa or moose in Canada.

I'd like to take two weeks to hunt elk and mulies out west, like they did it a century ago. No phones, electricity, 4 wheeler, just some guys on horses hunting. Kind of like "City Slickers" but add hunting. Cattle drive optional.

my choice for hunting would be a trophy elk in NM or Utah (the next spider bull) or a mule deer from AZ. as for fishing...anything in AK. i do like sharkfin's answer.

I would do a Mississippi flyway duck hunt. Start in Canada in the early fall and hunt as much as possible moving south until I reached the Gulf of Mexico in winter. I know it isn't possible for most people, me included but oh if it was.

My answer is mostly the same as sharkfin. I live in the North East so whitetails and moose hunts are always possible. But I've always dreamed of taking an elk. Calling them in seems like an adventure every hunter should experience. While I'm there, I would defenitely take the opportunity to hunt mule deer.

I'd like to go to Africa but hunting would be secondary in that case.

I did a bear hunt a couple years ago, when I finally shot my bear I had the opportunity to go walleye fishing. What a great time, I had just as much fun fishing walleye.

My current dream would be to spend some time in AK on some sort of hunting/fishing combination. It has always been a dream of mine to visit AK, hopefully the economy turns around soon and I can make that happen.

Either a Texas whitetail hunt or mountain lion with hounds in the rockys. Although the last one would take a couple months of working out intensly for me to be prepared I think it would be exciting.

I guess my dream hunt would have to be an adventure where I get flown out to a spot back in the sticks with all my gear and just live out there for a week.
Being able to hunt bear, deer etc.... and be able to fish all day if I wanted to.
Just me and maybe a few buddies. Just to be out in the "all-time" outdoors, now that would be a dream come true!

Heading down to the amazon for some monster peacocks sounds fun. Would like to bow hunt an American Bison in my home state of KS. Its not the location that makes it a "dream" from me, rather being able to share the experience w/ someone special like my father, wife or kids.

Well, you did say Dream Hunt. A couple of years ago I was TDY out to Tatalina LRRS near McGrath, AK. Big Al the supervisor of the site was one of the last Non-natives to hunt and kill a polar bear back in the early 1970's. I would like to hunt with the native Alaskans for a Polar Bear.
Or, I would love to go for a Buffalo hunt with Uncle Ted Nugent at his ranch.
