Welcome to Field & Stream
Campfire
What is the one (or two) place that you would like to take a hunting or a fishing trip in the world?
Personally I would like to take a trout fishing trip to the Lake Illiamna tributaries here in Alaska. Very world class fishing. Another place I would love to go is prime caribou hunting in northern Canada.

My fishing trip would also be to Alaska to fish for King Salmon. And my hunting would be Alaska moose of New Mexico Elk.
Im all for Alaska for kings, or Argentina for Browns.
I would love to go to the amazon for peacock bass and Africa to hunt kudu, they are amazing antelope!
Ive always heard Mexico has good bass fishing. Hunting I would like to go to Africa and hunt the black death.
saskatewan deer and norhtern pike
what is the black death?
I would say a trip to costa rica to go fishing for a week or two.
Second would be an Alaskan fishing trip, I have seen so many fishing shows with alaskan trips and I have always wanted to go and stay for a week or more and take it all in and live the dream.
Since I'm dreamin', I'd have Doc Brown take me in his delorean to the Sacramento River before the salmon runs were decimated, and when the state was actually home to the bear that is its state symbol. So hunting and fishing circa....1829 should do it.
(I get to trout, king and halibut fish in Alaska every summer, anyway)
After being around freezing temps for the last few months AK is out of the question. I'm thinking some tropical fishing spots, Okinawa, Hawaii, the Caribean and as far as hunting, I think Africa would be the most awesome place to go on safari. If for nothing else then to see the Serengetti and the wildlife in the plains. I had a chance to go there while in Africa but I didn't go because I would defitely want to experience the beauty of it all with my wife. She would probably outfish me and take about a million pictures of everything...thats why I love her so much.
Puerto Viarta for big yellow fin, marlin and dorado. Or Hawaii for the same.
I would also like to go fly fishing in New Zealand, and maybe some red stag hunting while i am there.
Black death is a nickname for cape buffalo.
Awww yes, cape buffalo sounds fun. I think tasting the meat would be very rewarding. Africa hunting's not top of my list, but I would still really would like to try safari hunt.
I'd have to say that for fishing it would be peacock bass and wolf fish on the amazon. As for hunting I would say cape buffalo in Africa or moose in Canada.
I LIVE IN IDAHO SO I'VE HAD MY BELLY FULL OF THE WESTERN GAME INCLUDING SHIRAS MOOSE, SO I THINK AN ALASKAN YUKON MOOSE HUNT SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT, AND THEN MAYBE IF THERE'S TIME A SPECIAL MULEY HUNT HERE IN MY HOME STATE IN A CERTAIN UNIT
I'd like to take two weeks to hunt elk and mulies out west, like they did it a century ago. No phones, electricity, 4 wheeler, just some guys on horses hunting. Kind of like "City Slickers" but add hunting. Cattle drive optional.
my choice for hunting would be a trophy elk in NM or Utah (the next spider bull) or a mule deer from AZ. as for fishing...anything in AK. i do like sharkfin's answer.
I would do a Mississippi flyway duck hunt. Start in Canada in the early fall and hunt as much as possible moving south until I reached the Gulf of Mexico in winter. I know it isn't possible for most people, me included but oh if it was.
My answer is mostly the same as sharkfin. I live in the North East so whitetails and moose hunts are always possible. But I've always dreamed of taking an elk. Calling them in seems like an adventure every hunter should experience. While I'm there, I would defenitely take the opportunity to hunt mule deer.
I'd like to go to Africa but hunting would be secondary in that case.
I did a bear hunt a couple years ago, when I finally shot my bear I had the opportunity to go walleye fishing. What a great time, I had just as much fun fishing walleye.
My current dream would be to spend some time in AK on some sort of hunting/fishing combination. It has always been a dream of mine to visit AK, hopefully the economy turns around soon and I can make that happen.
Either a Texas whitetail hunt or mountain lion with hounds in the rockys. Although the last one would take a couple months of working out intensly for me to be prepared I think it would be exciting.
I'd love to go Texas and help with the wild hog problems some places are having. The hogs are tearing down fences and deer feeders in parts.
Desert Big Horn with a bow.
Trout fish England.
I can't wait to go to Montana and chase pheasants, Huns and Sharpies all in the same day!
I got lucky because I already got to take my dream fishing trip to Alaska for reds in the russian when they are running heavy. But my dream hunting trip would have to be a texas deer hunt.
I guess my dream hunt would have to be an adventure where I get flown out to a spot back in the sticks with all my gear and just live out there for a week.
Being able to hunt bear, deer etc.... and be able to fish all day if I wanted to.
Just me and maybe a few buddies. Just to be out in the "all-time" outdoors, now that would be a dream come true!
Alaska for Yukon moose and Patagonia for trout. Of course, there will be sides trips ... just takes time and money.
... and I always wanted to try fresh caribou.
I would like to fish anywhere in Alaska. I think about it almost on a daily basis. Hunting would probably be in Saskatawan for whitetail or a color phase black bear hunt in Canada with a bow.
I'd have to say Alaska for moose and Montana for elk.
Heading down to the amazon for some monster peacocks sounds fun. Would like to bow hunt an American Bison in my home state of KS. Its not the location that makes it a "dream" from me, rather being able to share the experience w/ someone special like my father, wife or kids.
Well, you did say Dream Hunt. A couple of years ago I was TDY out to Tatalina LRRS near McGrath, AK. Big Al the supervisor of the site was one of the last Non-natives to hunt and kill a polar bear back in the early 1970's. I would like to hunt with the native Alaskans for a Polar Bear.
Or, I would love to go for a Buffalo hunt with Uncle Ted Nugent at his ranch.
Heading to Alaska to fish for Kings and Halibut would be a good fishing trip, but a trip that I would really like to take is Dorado in Bolivian Amazon fly fishing would ----------------------------
e cool.

A trip I've always wanted to take is to Alaska for Kings and Halibut, but recently I've added one to Bolivian Amazon for Dorado. As far as a hunting trip, NM or Utah for Elk is one I would like to take.
Too many good trips to choose from and already mentioned. My dream is to go moose hunt in the great Yukon Territories. While up there I would fish. I would also like to go to Stuttgart Arkansas and duck hunt.
Thx for all the replies! I enjoy reading all of them.
Grand Slam Sheep hunts as long as I wasn't paying for it. Dall, Rocky Mountain Bighorn, Desert and Stones. I hope I live long enough (and accumulate enough bonus points) to take on Bighorns.
My dream hunt would be to go on a bow hunt for Kodaik Bear in Alaska. I've never been to Alaska and would love the adventure, as long as I came back in one piece.
I would live to go to Alaska to hunt moose or a griz.
