Release deeply hooked bass
Uploaded on July 04, 2009When you hook a Bass deep in the throat, cut your line, remove plastic bait. Pull hook out of throat point first, eye of hook will pull out easily. Aids in fish's recovery and saves terminal tackle.

This may be a good method to use; however, everything I have read in magazine and internet articles and have been told by other fishermen is to leave the hook in the throat of a fish after removing the plastic bait. The line then needs to be cut as close to the hook as possible. After a few days, the chemical acids in the fish will rust the hook out.
