fishing in Louisiana thought i was casting towards a log but it was a gator that really didi not like the hook in his face. that was a quick fight. 1 bite rod reel line lure all gone just threw it all in.
One time me and my friend had set up a throw line and one time it started to go crazy and when we pulled it up there was just a piece of metal on it.
when i was 15 i got a rooster tail snagged across a small pond i grew up fishing in. it was on the end of a very weak and thin looking branch, so i just yanked it hard, thinking the limb would break and fall in the pond. didn't happen. i heard a crack and the next thing i knew something hit's me in the high side of my cheek. i closed my eye's and tried to throw my hands up but not quick enough. the treble stuck in my face, bout a half inch from my left eye. bit the line and walked 1 1/2 miles home, blood trailing down my face. though i put my eye out. bout did.
I was working the Alarm Monitor(AM)post one night in the weapons storage area (WSA) while on active duty in the AF. While the Entry controller (EC) and I were playing cards we both heard the "turn style" gate rotate and the badge drawer open and close.
NO WAY THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED WITHOUT THE EC ACTIVATING THE GATE AND MANUALLY PULLING THE DRAWER! That stopped the card playing for the night...
We couldn't wait for sunrise to come, and relief would take our posts!
"Obama wins 2012!" Now that's scary....
I was in my teens riding 4 wheeler on a nice tree covered gravel road. It was narrow not traveled much you could tell by the grass growing on the sides. I came to the blind corner with a culvert right in the middle of the turn. It was a strait 5 foot drop on either side of the road. I slow down slightly as I make the turn and "bam!" ran head on into a 2 1/2 ton hay truck. He took the whole road, No where else to go. He pushed me about 20 feet before he stopped. the 4 wheeler was pinned under the truck. I held on with all I had, smacked my cheek on the Chevy emblem, the only scratch I had. The 4 wheeler was toast. The scary part was the 4 wheeler was not mine. Now that I look back, I'm blessed to still be alive.
My family and one other family was camping in Yellowstone when I was a kid. It was me and thee younger boys including my brother. All four of us went into the woods looking for fire wood. On our way back to camp, close to dark, we heard a noise like a bear growling. Three of us took off running, my brother had a ear ache from swimming and did not hear the "bear", he just stood there wondering what was going on. As we sprinted up the trail my father stepped out from behind a tree laughing. We had to tell my brother what was up.

i was fishing in jackson creek in illinois ( great for smallies)and i found a hole about 5 ft deep. all of a sudden i felt something rub across my shouler. i turn my head and there is a water mocassin two feet away staring me down. so what did i do i ran as fast as i could and got to the bank. all the commotion scared the snake away. i thank God for not being bit and now waist deep is good for me. oh yeah I HATE SNAKES!!!!!!!!!!!!
A buddy and I were out hunting coons one night in NY. We were on Howlands Island, which is decent sized. His dog was not the best and we could not get him to return to us. Off in the distance we heard a pack of coyotes, nothing to be worried about. But less than 5 minutes later another pack was directly behind us, still a distance away but sounds like they're closing in. We still try to find his darn dog nothing though then coyotes begin to circle us, mind you that it is about 1130 at night about 2 miles out on this island. Out of nowhere the dog comes back with his tail between his legs. We new then that the coyotes were very near. You could hear them within 25 yards just waiting. We would flip the flash light towards the movement and they would kinda scurry away for a second only to come back. It was a scary night that could have ended badly.
